That code could be some boilerplate they are using so it's not definite they'll announce it in March, but it's clear it's coming to PC anyway.

There's a nice sized hidden image of the Amano artwork on that page.

is the combat still one button hold to attack? because that would be supremely disappointing fi those jumps and aerial attacks aren't manual.

They changed the combat significantly since Episode Duscae to make it a bit more complex, then I don't think so. We need to wait on more information about the "manual battle mode" they talked about.

Tabata talked about his interest in Steam when asked about a PC version. Doubt it'll release alongside the console versions though.

I wonder if they can get the grass up to the quality that was shown in 2014 on consoles or even on a hypothetical PC version.
The trailer reminds me, it's funny watching that thing again and hearing Noctis saying "Almost there." Yeah right. :p

You press O to jump,X to warp,L1 to dodge,the d pad seems to be for weapon switching. Sqaure is to attack yes, but no the combat isn't a simple hold button to win

He didn't say 'to win' though. In that case, it still is holding button to attack in the latest footage, which is unfortunate.

But thats how most games are i never got the complaint maybe someone can explain it to me .

Driveclub hold R2 to drive lol

I dont get the complain whats different from mashing the button to holding it? If it was press square to attack it would be called a button masher like a few people do to kh

It looks like Leviathan on top and Bahamut on the bottom of that logo. I wonder if that means they will be opposing forces instead of what the myth image which looks like they are lovers or close to one another.

Im more concerned with the rubber band effect of attacks when you are locked on

Combined with teh camera in the demo I felt i had so little control over the character and attacks

Didnt help that I also didnt know when to time strikes between weapn switches since its dependent on shit like enemy HP and such

The new changes seem to address most of those concern though is still looks like the MC is flying around all over the place with the attacks

Can Unreal Engine 4 achieve lighting this good? Because if yes, then I hope Square completely ditches Luminous after this game. They need to be productive again.

Is the Luminous Engine really a problem??? I think the game looks amazing. And I thought UE4 wasn't a answer for everything? I'm not attacking you, by the way.

That battle theme wins my heart so much...sounds like an alternate version from the demo's.

Looks like we have a female antagonist as well, good stuff.

People like timing their attacks and manipulating 3D space in battles

If you just going to sting attacks along why make it an action rpg?
 
Yup me too people call out kh on thr mashing all the time so they cant win either way

It's mostly for a feeling of feedback. The closer attacks are to your actual button presses and the more control you have over the blows the more satisfying it is to execute those attacks. It's why I prefer Kingdom Hearts' "mashing" to Duscae's holding, because you're more involved with strikes, specific combos and canceling your attacks. The reason you can just mash in Kingdom Hearts is more related to difficulty than lack of tight control.

I'd imagine there's a setback just on the basis of them being the only company using it, so they're responsible for training the team(and any devs they outsource to) working on the game. Of course, it might not be that big of a deal, but the reason they switched KH3 over is that they had to combine the Luminous Development team into the FFXV team to speed up development, so Osaka team was essentially on their own. UE4 is already common enough and has enough resources/documentation available that they don't really have to worry as much about having those people available.

I believe that Tabata actually addressed this in the ATR. I think he said that technically they are pretty similar with lighting.

I think UE4 uses Enlighten, also UE4 integrates (or is gonna integrate) Lionhead new GI lighting solution.

The point is UE4 is modular enough that a company can implement it's own lighting solution if they want. So SE could take Luminous lighting solution and put it on UE4.

The question wasn't really if Luminous was pretty enough. It was if UE4 could match its visuals, that Square should switch to it in the future as it's much better supported.

As for UE4, yes it can match Luminous in visuals. Tabata even said that as far as the lighting was concerned, it was basically the same as what UE4 offers. The difference that Luminous was giving them was in post processing.

Hypothetically, if there was a compelling reason for them to go to UE4, they could task their engine programmers with porting over tools they developed in-house that were superior to the comparable tools built in to UE4.(ie. if they hate UE4's particle system or animation system, they could port over their in house equivalent tools) That's what happened with KH3 when it moved to UE4 when it came to their "kingdom shader"(if that's still a thing).

The real question is would future titles benefit from working with UE4 as it's likely a lot easier to develop with, or will Luminous be good enough now after they used FFXV to work through the growing pains?

My first language is Farsi, then German and third would be English ;)

I hope you can alter the controls/there are multiple sets. L1 to warp and X to dodge makes waaaaay more sense.

I would agree 100% The X button must stay inside the Battle-Engagement scheme. Warping-out makes more sense in a more ''distant'' button.

I dont know if that makes any sesne to you guys, but to me feels really natural

I think mapping the most basic skills to the face buttons is the most obvious thing to do. Jump, Dodge, Warp, and Attack all make sense to me.

Which makes me think what the trigger buttons are gonna be set to, maybe something we don't know yet? Lock-on is probably still R1, I guess L1 or one of the triggers can be party attacks. I wonder what they did with abilities.

I kinda don't like magic having to take up one of the weapon slots, but if they plan for us to rarely use it I guess there's no need to have a button solely for it.

I completely agree, mapping is a very foundamental action. Should be included!
