Last of Uncharted Final Us Fantasy. Looks like movements gonna feel sloppy, and way too dialed into Action RPG for my tastes. Blech.

  • Fire set to the environment will hurt both friends and foes.
  • The Fire spell isn’t like the classic fireball that affects a single enemy like in previous Final Fantasy games, but it affects an area from the beginning.
  • Flames will spread naturally and ignite flammable items, like grass and wooden buildings. The game actually distinguishes between flammable items and those that can’t catch fire.
  • If it’s raining, flames will not spread and the fire will be doused quickly.
  • After a while, the signs of scorching are removed by a “strange force.” In Final Fantasy XV magic derives from the elements, and after a while that power returns to the planet.
  • There are other magic elements besides fire, but it isn’t a huge amount, to give each its own specific identity. There will also be Blizzard and Lightning. Blizzard will be showcased first.
  • Thunder will be more powerful when it rains due to the interaction between electricity and water. Blizzard will freeze water and slow down enemies.
  • Elemental magic is present in various locations around the world. It’s a kind of energy that the player gathers and is stored like an item in inventory. You can equip it instead of a weapon in battle.
  • There’s another kind of magic on top of elemental magic, and that’s ring magic, that can be used only by the bearer of the royal ring of Lucis. While elemental magic will be available from the beginning, ring magic will be available only after reaching a certain point in the story.

Cool stuf!!

Ah okay, got it. The environment effects sound really interesting.
The ring is probably the thing that allows you to use summons maybe? The kingdom of Lucis is said to be keepers of the crystal so maybe the ring houses it. All speculation of course, lol. Everything I've heard has been pretty interesting so far.

The Lucis Crystal has been stolen by Niflmheim. The ring could contain a shard, though.

Main hope I have for this game is that I would like there to be tons of side-stuff to do. One of the main reasons I love FF games. I have clocked so many hours just collecting, exploring, fighting ultimate bosses and unlocking stuff.

I just remembered that Luna has a ring in her hand (probably for Noctis) when she's escaping after the invasion of Noctis' home city and is waiting for him to meet her so she can give it to him, I guess.

Also:

When a king of Lucis dies, their wisdom gets passed to the next generation thus the royal line lives on. That ring that Nomura mentioned in the past as a significant object, is in fact inherited by the person next in line for the throne of Lucis. Naturally, Regis posses one of these rings. What happens to the ring during Lucis’s invasion? This is a key point – the ring contains both the wisdom and power of the previous king of Lucis. The summoned swords are also inherited from each previous king. In the story, there are items, such as the weapons of previous kings, that Noctis must collect “no matter what.”

Interesting that the ring was one of the surviving ideas from the Versus plotline. Makes me believe that most of the Versus storyline is still there.

There's still a new demo to be released IIRC, one that will show off the world more than combat. I'd imagine it won't be Duscae or military-themed, I'm hoping it will be an urban area so we can see a wide spectrum of lighting and color and richness in the environments. That would restore faith in the 'FF-ness' of this game more than another combat trek through dimly lit spaces. People are heavily taking the Niflheim base footage out of context from the ATR and are drawing pretty wild conclusions from it. Everything we see in the video is explained in detail by Tabata and AO in the ATR segment right after it airs.

This is where I think the double-edged nature of these ATRs reveals itself. People take them as full-on trailers or as representative of the entire game, many of them coming in after a blackout of info and aren't familiar with the development context that these clips are being shown from. For every fan whose concerns are assuaged, another becomes incensed and the level of myriad chaos in both expectations and frustration among the fanbase shoots through the roof. The March event cannot come soon enough.

The new demo will have child Noctis as the lead character and also contains battles in a different form (Tabata hasn't detailed this and said they will reveal it at the March event). They showed this teaser during the Taipei Show yesterday:

They also showed this really cool screen during that show:

I am curious how much kid Noctis we actually get in the final game. I find it interesting that this is one of the concepts from Versus that they have kept.

I sure do hope we get to switch weapons on the fly. I wasn't paying attention, but they updated the UI quite a bit. It's much cleaner. I'm also glad Noctis can leap attack or attack in the air. I just wonder how they're going to keep everyone entertained with monsters. I sure hope we get a large beastiary.

Final Fantasy Versus 14.8 - Chapter XV Prologue.

I was hoping they would just put out a combat demo. This sounds more intriguing. Question is, have they said if it's just going to be a regular demo that's released on the PSN or do I have to buy something else to have access to it.

Free for all. Full reveal at the March event.

And yeah, I hoped they would have had a demo to showcase the final combat. Last year they said the demo would be this small city area from the TGS 2014 footage:

I wouldn't imagine that much. Since he's suppose to be the star of the new tech demo though, I wonder if we'll come across little Luna.

Why is this March event so far away?! D:

It's supposed to be free for everyone right? They were talking about the tech demo when this image was on the screen.

Well we have had a version of kid Noctis in almost every trailer dating back awhile now.

We had a first person scene from a Versus trailer of kid Noctis running towards Regis and then at the E3 reveal, once with Luna and then with Regis, and then with the Dawn trailers and now we get a demo with him.

So I am expecting some flashbacks for sure.

IIRC, Tabata even mentioned the Archaeans/summons who are guarding/protecting the world and heal its "wounds".

I remember this as well.

Glad that this game it's one of the few of the generation that in every footage it look upgraded instead of downgraded.

Now that i'm thinking of it, almost every japanese dev doesn't do downgrades.

This gonna be awesome!

Since they focus strictly on specific gameplay elements, the ATRs and the footage that comes out of it lack any direction. Just look at the past three. We've had driving, Chocobo riding, and combat/stealth showcase in each respective one. None of these gameplay sequences are stitched together at all. The game looks like it lacks any direction when the videos are shown in this manner. I've seen people talking about this as well.

However, we've seen trailers for E3, TGS, Jump Festa, and Gamescom. While Gamescom was a dud, the other three trailers don't really lack in direction - especially the E3 and TGS ones. I think what this game needs more than anything at this point is something that tells people who are skeptical what the heck this game actually is in a condensed format. It needs a proper trailer. So yeah, it needs that March event more than ever now. I think a lot of people are thrown off by the stealth.

Reminds me of this which was supposedly through the eyes of child Noctis:

https://youtu.be/YiIx9VJWSl8?t=4m29s

Pretty much. That and the beginning of the E3 2013 trailer where you see the children running in the grass.

We know flashbacks will play some importance in fleshing out the story, which is pretty great, IMO. A lot of my favorite FFs have had flashbacks that were important in fleshing out characters(FFV, FFVI, FFVII, FFIX, FFX). This doesn't seem to be an exception. It seems not unlike the other games were, events in the past have a direct connection to events in the present. We know this will be fact considering we've seen artwork of Regis fighting in his own "posse", along side his good friends. That's why I kinda likened Cor to Galuf in FFV, being part of the "old group", but joining the new generation in their fight. SO yeah, it seems like things in the past are pretty important in understanding who these characters are. I have no complaints(if anything, I kinda wished FFXIII focused more on flashbacks that weren't in close to the immediate present to help show who those characters were).

EDIT: From Dualshockers, btw. I wonder why they're banned. They had some pretty good interviews and stuff for FFXV.

It would be awesome if thunder would arc to surrounding metal environments.

I watched the trailer a thousand times already and just now I noticed that the oil in the ground comes from the magitek armor thanks to Noctis's attack in it's foot.

Yeah, that's why the fire causes that earth shattering kaboom! He lights up the oil on the floor.

This game is already shaping to be a strong candidate for GOTY. This footage looks insanely good and just by imagine that the game will have 40+ hours of this top notch combat plus lot's of open world goodnes is making me really really hyped now!

And I don't even have a PS4 to play this wich I would get soon so I can play this beauty and Uncharted 4 and Ratchet and Clank.

He's not the original Regis. I think that's what he's asking about.

Literally every other character is in the game other than Regis. Luna shares an identical design with Stella. Why change this of all things?

I get there sentiment, which was to make him more "fatherly", and I like the change but the old Regis design was sleeker.

Oh I just mean the suit is in, remember the original design had the mafia look but now he has a cape on top but the suit seems present. Sorry for the confusion.

I remember Tabata saying there is a good reason for it but it would be a spoiler. That leads me to believe there is something story-related going on, I hope so. Yakuza Regis was GOAT
