What I found funny about Superman Returns was that the real tragic figure was Lois's husband.

Lets see the kid isn't his and the kid also has super powers so you can't discipline him during those rough angsty teenage years, your wife loves another man and that man is fucking Superman! How can you compete with Superman!

New villain right there!

They could make a fuck awesome sequel to SR, but unfortunately it's looking like they're going to reboot. I've been refining my take on a SR sequel since I last posted it. Here goes V 2.0:

Act 1: Braniac (the Kryptonian super-computer version from TAS) picks up readings of Kryptonite from the huge chunk of it Supes tossed into space and heads to Earth to investigate. At first he claims to come here only to share his knowledge with us and learn about us. Superman is all psyched to meet a piece of his homeworld and learn more about it from some one who knows everything until they meet and Brainiac, having gathered everything he desires, tries to kill him. A super powered fight ensues around the Fortress of Solitude, ending in a stalemate with both badly injured.

Act 2: Lex, sensing an opportunity, offers to help Brainiac repair himself and lets him know that Supes has a kid. Lex also takes this time to secretly have his scientists study Brainiac's robotic body. Meanwhile the Daily Planet is trying to get a leg up on coverage of the new alien hero. Thinking Superman's view on the guy and knowledge of their planet would get them the most readers, they send Lois to interview him. Superman and Lois being thrust together again starts to gnaw at Richard.

Act 3: Newly repaired Brainiac kidnaps the kid to use as leverage to get Supes to let him destroy the planet. Richard shows up, wanting to help in any way he can to rescue what he thinks is his kid, only to see him display a super power. This, combined with years of watching Lois pine for Superman tips him over the edge. Superman refuses to let Earth be destroyed, so Braniac decides to start the destruction by killing the kid. Superman goes nuts (or as nuts as Supes will go) upon seeing his son, the only other living Kryptonian, about to be killed by the only other piece of his homeworld. He attacks Brainiac and frees the kid. Then starts the epic fight we've all wanted to see on screen for years. They get tossed through buildings, start throwing vehicles at each other and unleash a bunch of powers on each other. You could go really crazy with this and have it take place at a bunch places around the world, maybe have it end with Supes impaling Brainiac on the Space Needle of something. Of course Superman eventually emerges victorious. Richard, now knowing the kid, who he was beginning to feel was his only connection to Lois, isn't his, has had enough and splits with Lois. End with a scene showing Luthor talking to his techs who inform him that while they can pretty closely replicate parts of Brainiac's body (with a kryptonite power source), they can't duplicate the AI. They'll need a human brain. Queue the credits. Have a stinger after the credits showing Lex approaching Richard, asking if he'd be interested in his new project to eliminate Superman: Project Metallo.

Ra's al Ghul was great in the first movie; the choice to have him be an immortal persona rather than a literally immortal person was a brilliant way to bring that character into the quasi-realistic Nolanverse. There was not a great final battle, unfortunately, but the first 40 minutes of Begins when Bale and Neeson are training together is brilliant cinema.

Speak for yourself!

Still gets me pumped :D

Not sure whether Lex should be in this or not. On one hand, would be a nice change if he wasn't. On the other, he's a pretty flexible foe.

No Lex, period.

A bit OT, but everyone, please watch this:

It's only, the best Superman film ever.

I think he should be in but in as major a role as the past movies.

I could see them introducing Lex alongside Clark, but building him up to his 'megavillian executive' position by the end of the film, saving him for a sequel. There's plenty of denser foes they could use for the 'main' villian (ie: the one they plaster over the posters and adverts). Bizarro would be good.

Could not disagree more.

And my painful shoulder cap Krypton tattoo says otherwise. ;)

Okay, the first two seasons were fun.

And real fans would have gotten a full body replica of the explosion of Krypton on their body.... just saying.

Superman Doomsday had a good story, but the guys making it seemed to be 12 year olds. Shocking to know it was the guys that did the DCAU.

That was great too( but it was nonetheless an episode from a tv series). JLU was such a great show.

So, like, do we have an actual press release that confirms Nolan is doing Batman 3? Cuz I won't get excited otherwise.

I still had hope for Spider-man 4 until Sony issued that damn PR. T_T

I have stated for ages that if you're gonna do a Superman movie, do Doomsday.
Have the fucking movie end with Superman dead.

No fucking hints at a sequel.
No "The End ...?".

Just have him die.

Then make a Green Lantern movie and pepper in some of the 4 (fake) Supermen stuff.

Teasers and trailers for the next year and a half should gradually show each of the 4 (fake) Supermen, with a final reveal of the real Supes.

Gloss over all the fucking black suit long hair bullshit and get to some Darkseid shit.

Then end it.

Those sneaky bastards, probably had it in the cooler this whole time.

Wonder how soon until leaks about possible villains.

IESB says WB will start officially announcing all their DC movies really soon.

To recap; Jonah Nolan has turned in a 1st draft on "Batman 3", WB has a Superman script they are happy with, and an announcement is around the corner on "Wonder Woman" and "Flash" with additional info for "Superman" and "Batman 3".

I'm guessing we get a Batman 3 title and date, with a really vague synopsis like "Batman continues war on crime after the event of The Dark Knight"

Wait there is a Flash movie in the works as well?

Good to see DC finally get on the ball with their properties, I just hope they don't Catwoman it.

Following the making of the Dark Knight here on gaming age was one of the best experiences for me on GAF. Lets do this again!

Yes I have no life.

Only way it could be 2011 is if they did a Fall 2011 release, but that's never going to happen. Batman will always be WB's summer tentpole.

So yeah, Summer 2012 is probably it.

No doubt. It was fun having all of us trying to solve clues for the gafers at CC for the ARG. It's gonna be fun to do that again. :D

One of the worst things ever was reading that thread and not being able to post. I will be ready this time.

(3 acts of stuff follows)

I like that direction. I also write my own sequel takes on films at times. I even wrote my own improvements to SR, which overall I liked quite a bit but was disappointed by the usually mentioned things.

"How to improve SR in the simplest way", synopsis brief: Supes tries to pick up the island but fails when kryptonite juts out of it, causing a tidal wave that he must stop. Then he appears wearing a lead-lined suit and manages to throw the island to space. Rather than a "superman almost dies" sequence, we end the film with a bang: he shows up on the little island and we see him flying across the ocean with Lex in tow while Lex spews creative dialogue and the Superman theme plays. He drops him off at prison, as he has done in prior films. Then we see Superman flying across the USA landscape, reveling in his ability to do so as the Superman theme swells louder and louder, ending with the space-over-earth scene. fin.

(I also started a fairly interesting (IMO) treatment for Batman 3 w/Cobblepot basically as an evil mirror to Bruce Wayne: a crafty businessman w/affable public personality bird/museum/arts-loving front, and behind the scenes the Penguin, the ruthless mob boss who is taking advantage of the events of TDK...he drives around in his heavily modified limo, which takes out the new Batmobile in Act2; but thats another topic).

I'm still pining for the Joss Whedon-helmed Wonder Woman. Joss with a budget... *drools*

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. I really liked Schumaker's vision before Nolan came and fucked up everything.

July 2011 release would make my fricking YEAR.
You do realize Nolan will be in post on Inception until about April or May this year right? There is no way to ramp up for B3 and release it in 2011. It will be a June or July 2012 release. Besides, summer 2011 is already pretty jam packed.
