Early impressions start rolling out for Batman v. Superman

It's like everybody in the world became Alan Moore's themselves. When I was a kid comic book culture was shunned and frowned upon by the cool kids so while this subculture is going mainstream y'all better soak up that shine before shade gets thrown on it again.

That's already been happening for awhile now

So true. 10/10 post. I remember those dark days, as well.

I think people are simply spoiled on everything now. They take for granted the fact that we're getting these movies, and they're never good enough.

Another problem is that, to most fans, their personal visions of Batman and Superman will never, ever match up with what's given to them on screen. To many people, these characters are almost religious icons. You'll never be able to please everyone.

Personally, I'm 35 years old. I remember Superman IV, the Burton/Schumacher Batman films (I appreciate the '89 one for being a great film noir movie that happened to have Batman stumbling into frame every once in a while, but that's as far as it goes), the '80s Captain America movie, the live-action Spider-Man television show, the Hulk TV show/TV movies (seriously, look up the ones with Thor and Daredevil in them), and everything else leading up to and including the Raimi Spider-Man films, which I don't like nearly as much as everyone else.

We are fucking BLESSED to be getting what we're getting with these newer movies. Who would have thought that a movie with Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman would ever be a reality? Or the Avengers? Or Spider-Man in the MCU?

These are good times, but people don't realize it at all.
Very True, It is such a great time to be alive, to be a fan, to just be here at this moment in time.

Call me spoilt then, because I refuse to clamour over any movie for simply existing.

Possibly already posted, but here is a screen cap of some early impressions. Take them as you will:

Pay particular attention to the opinion of Norma Snutsack. She's a dignified and highly respected reviewer. As the old saying goes, "nothing say 'quality' like the name Norma Snutsack."

wtf is he talking about at the bottom right, I didn't hear anything about that, Geoff Johns announced GL actor.

Not too fussed about early reviewers, personally I'm still waiting for the reviewer consensus. Whether this movie turns out to be good or not, all I know is that one side will be making mass orders of crow for dinner. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Mate, it's about a man who wears red pants over his trousers fighting some CGI.

We all saw the trailers. We all know exactly what it's going to be like.

lmao. the red pants are off in the newer ones but yeah they're all kid's films when it comes down to it.

the distinction in the genre is whether it's for all ages or 12 and up.

I know you were being sarcastic but Norma? 15 total tweets, like 12 of them about batman.

So yeah, i think we can throw that one out

Why in the world are people hoping this movie is a shitpile? I'll never understand movie-GAFs ultra high standard of expectations when it comes to movies in general.

We live in a time where Deadpool actually happened and the MCU has 3 movies a year that are financially successful. Rocket Racoon is a character that is popular. Civil War is happening. Thanos is about to wreck shit.

Superman is back and now we get Batman vs Superman on the big screen. Suicide Squad and Doctor Strange are coming soon. This is literally the best time to be alive for comic fans in the history of ever. I'm a Marvel guy, but I want to see this and I hope it's good and I want it to be successful because Wonder Woman and Justice League are going to happen.

Lighten up and take a step back and enjoy it while it lasts, because like everything else, it will be over before we know what we really had. Then we'll be complaining that they don't do comic book movies anymore like they did in the glory years.

Get over it an just let yourself turn off the world and enjoy it for what it is.

I feel the same man I've been waiting for these stories from the comics to be translated on the screen since I was a little kid. I'm rooting for every CBM to be great because I'll see everyone in theaters on opening day.

God you are so wrong. Why are you implying people should be happy just because a film exists in first place, what more we want! Well, a good film if possible.

And why we are blessed for getting super hero movies, as if they were something special?

Wow! BvS is really starting to heat up sales now. Movietickets has it at 44% now.

I'm guessing 20-25M for Thursday.

Honestly impressions or reviews aren't even in my mind. Won't even bother. All I could get is spoiled.

It's batman vs superman. Time to be a kid again and watch this shit with a candy buzz.

At this point they're nothing special, because there are a shitload of them.

Ten, twenty years ago, we had Spawn, Catwoman, etc.

I'm not saying you should be happy simply because they exist. I'm saying that this is a time that people should appreciate, that effort is actually being put into these films. Whether you like the results or not is your prerogative, but for a lot of people it's heartening for the genre to not be treated like a joke, as it was for a very long time.

*cue snarky comment about WB/MoS being jokes*

EDIT: Compare the state of superhero movies now to the state they were in before 2008, when Unbreakable outclassed almost every one of them.

What superhero was out 5 years ago that Norma is comparing it too?

This can't be real life.

I teared up during both MoS and, believe it or not, Superman Returns. Some people are very attached to the character and what he can represent.

Though to be fair it was more the music in SR than anything else. The music during the flight scene with Lois is what got me.

SAVE THE DOG
Don't save me tho

i don't mind that scene tbh, in context i actually...like that he went out not being saved by clark. it's a good moral lesson. it's the dog thing that was stupid as hell. i hope superman punted that shit over a bridge jack black style after it led to his dad's sacrifice.

and also they could have just sent clark to get the dog and have johnathan kent stay with martha instead. it's a great idea to have clark stand by and have the patience and respect to make that sacrifice but not in THAT way, written poorly imo.

Don't save the kids. Don't save me. Don't save the dog: The Movie

So they're projecting? This explanation makes the most sense.

Honestly, I wanted to be moved by MoS. I'm a sucker for father/kid stories and I was surprised at how even this couldn't move me in the slightest.

This never gets old.

It's possible, yeah. It's not so much the character as it is what he means to people. I have attachments to certain things that don't make sense to a lot of people, but it's not the physical things I'm attached to, it's what they remind me of.
