Liquidsnake stole this thread.
What didn`t make sense? Pretty easy to understand since the plot was simple, and it's one of the greatest action movies of all time.WB gives their directors the most creative freedom by far. George Miller got carte blanche on Mad Max, and that shit made no damn sense. They are ready and willing to try the craziest shit possible, like giving Snyder the keys to the comic book kingdom.
I know its not Citizen Kane, I mean important to me, and important to see what direction we can take comic movies, it doesn't always have to be Benny Hill Comedies like Avengers.
This. This! THIS!Easy. People need to learn to separate the quality of a movie and their taste for film. People tend to draw this weird line between "oh i like it" and "...then it must be great". The two are not mutually inclusive. MoS having interesting themes doesnt make it an interesting movie. A lot of times the audience members watch a movie and treat it like a rorshach card and see what they want to see, fill in their own blanks. Sometimes an opinion says more about the person, as it does here, than it does about the movie.
MoS's screenplay is objectively poorly written and doesn't not warrant or earn the emotion that it oddly evokes in people. Does that mean people can't enjoy it? Hell no, of course they can.
Having an opinion doesn't protect you from being misinformed.

I did once compare TDKR to Citizen Kane though. But that was more about how Nolan is the best Director of our generation.
Ill stop, I don't want to upset anyone.
MOS to me is the best Super hero movie to date.
Nothing screams Benny Hill like forced sterilization.

I knew I liked you for a reason.
Now I'm not sure I would go as far as to say it's the most important movie of the last decade, but the movie is a damn masterpiece.
From the moment Kal-El crashed on earth and that soaring Zimmer theme went on when Clark first flew I knew this movie was special. By the end of the movie I was in tears.
And now to finally experience The Trinity on the big screen is the best thing ever, and to have it lead into Justice League and beyond is something I never thought would happen.

I totally disagree with a lot of this, and I hated MoS. "Objective" is a fiction. While there may be actual touchpoints that are somewhat objective in film - i.e. is the CGI in line with modern standards art overall is mostly subjective.

and yeah, when you've crossed the line where allegiance to a film warrants dropping bombs on people you don't know, there is a fine line being crossed lol.
Keep reiterating that I'm not a MoS fan and BvS is vast improvement...but that Smallville fight scene in MoS is my favorite across both films.
Objective is not a fiction. If it were, then any high school drop out could release a "Citizen's Kane." There are fundamental basics in screenwriting that are shat on in MoS, the use of plot devices for one.
Let me give you an example.
Clark finds work at a bar around the same time and area where two soldiers are discussing a top secret anomaly that the military just discovered. Cool, now we have a lazy way to get him to find said ship. He gets there and in next scene, somehow he has a job helping the US military. How the fuck? who knows. Did he even need the job? he's fucking superman. next scene: lois lane just chillin in snow storm and spots clark walking into cave.
These are examples of lazy expositions and devices use to get the plot prodding along. it's about as lazy and useless as someone asserting that the last roll of toilet paper was in that cave just so clark could find a hologram of his dad.
i haven't scratched the surface. So yeah, objectively bad writing.
This. As a horror fan for years there's a ton of shit I know is horribly written and poorly directed, but it still works on a enjoyment level.
Art is objective.

I'm with Liquidsnake, Man of Steel is one of the better superhero movies.
Can't believe you guys forgot about Liquid.

The real fun starts in less than 2 hoursLiquidsnake destroying this threadwith truthfacts
For reference, they posted what they thought of Man of Steel here:

I try to forget every day.
Y'all wanted Zack Snyder to stop it with all the action. You complained about the destruction. Now all you're going to get is a 2.5 hour court drama movie about Batman suing superman for the destruction he caused.![]()
Ya baby.
EDIT: Hold the fuck up... are you saying that nothing in BvsS reaches the heights of this???
The real fun starts in less than 2 hours
Don't do that.
Liquid is the poster MovieGAF deserves.
Whats this knightmare/dream sequence stuff about?? Is the Batman in the overalls/cloak scenes a dream?
Nah, he's wrong, it was panned critically and rightfully so.

thanks for the strawman.
I'm predicting a fucking graveyard
It'll be our own little Black Zero Incident
Which part made it great?
Mods gonna sit back and watch the thread explode like they're superman in man of Steel.
Fantastic.
MAN OF STEEL is a middling superhero movie and a bad Superman movie.
I say this as someone who likes Superman and wanted MAN OF STEEL to be good.
NO.
...I am!
Or this?

Yes it is. Your opinion is wrong.150 million dollar (Rated R!) reboot of 30 year old franchise
Supremely old director who had mostly made family films and animated films for decades before this
A hellish shoot with tons of reshoots and stars that were constantly sniping at one another
All that is -supposed- to equal disaster. Not the best action movie of the decade!

Yes it is. Your opinion is wrong.
It had its issues and on most occasions it would be a disaster, but it worked. One of the GOAT action movies.
