Kinda but not really. $180K is just pennies compared to what Tesla needs to ramp up their production but this does show people are willing to put down money for a moderately priced electric car. That will definitely help them get the needed capital to grow.

Despite my epic math fail, that isn't correct. Tesla still needs additional capital to support their growth. Last year they raised over $700M through a stock sale:
