Transformers movies prove general audiences can forgive a lot of a movies flaws if the movie is actually ENTERTAINING.

The entire middle half of BvS had me nodding off. For all of Bayformer's faults, there's never been a moment in them where I was bored.

Transformers films are continuing to decline domestically. China is propping it up OS.

Be facetious about the metropolis scene brehs....

What about the scenes when he was out of the car. That heat vision and seeing the ship crash into the world engine was scary as hell. Great setpiece.

Bruce was at his most heroic in the opening too.

Thats pretty wack that they played the car commercial in front of the movie. Thank God I didn't get that. It would have hurt some of its impact no doubt

I'll admit I'm in the minority about WW as I just didn't see what other people saw and I have a bad feeling about her solo movie next year. I'm probably wrong on this one like I am with most things though.

People disliking WW is not a minority. The actress was terrible. After watching BvS I started wanting the idea that Faora from Man of Steel becomes Wonder Woman.

Avengers did 1.5 billion. AoU nearly as much, and the things wrong with the latter film weren't the jokes.

The jokes help cover up the crappiness of the Avengers. I can't remember any good pieces of dialogue... I can remember certain quips, though, because they're used as memes like, "I understood that reference." I'm trying to remember anything memorable or something of substance from AoU and I can't.

Not surprised. The movie looks like absolute straight-to-DVD garbage.

Transformers is at least nice to look at (even though they're awful)

It was better than I expected based on what I'd read here. It's pretty good. Hope it manages decent numbers

Kind of spoilers
it does rush some stuff though. Like bad guy motivation and justice League universe building

Gadot is one of the few things about the movie that has received more praise than criticism.

People need to get over her not being muscular enough or whatever. She was fine.

If you had told me a decade ago that Captain America would be a bigger media property than Superman, I'd have laughed in your face.
Marvel has created a better Superman in Chris Evans/Captain America than DC has with the actual character. That legitimately makes me kind of sad.

Zack Snyder's Superman has had two movies to try and get Superman from point A to point B.

Meanwhile Captain America is written like he should be, and plopped into scenarios that explore that.

I cant believe you guys got the box office thread locked :/

Where do weekend numbers for non-BvS stuff go before xaosslug posts the new thread? Here?

The guys in charge should do everything they can right now to right the course for the DC universe. Just letting Snyder do Justice league after this would be shame. Is it a case of "fuck we already signed the contracts and can't do anything about this now. Just gotta play it all out knowing we fucked it up"?

Yeah besides the reeves/routh iteration this would have also been a very enjoyable film portrayal of superman

god i love how people are still mad about this

I'm amazed that anyone is still mad about the Mandarin reveal. Did they not see Thor 2? Did they not see the "All Hail the King" short?

If anyone's still pissed about the Mandarin, and they didn't see Thor 2 (because Thor 2 sucks), go watch the All Hail the King short, because it's great.

This drop was entirely expected. Hoping this scares the studio bad enough to drop Snyder. Thats looking pretty likely to me now.

So I just finished the film:

Got to hand it to Snyder, I didn't think it was possible to make a 2.5 hour film feel both plodding and rushed at the same time, yet that is exactly what BvS is.

Every single criticism was spot on.

I do NOT understand why so many love Batfleck. He looks the part, but the script gave him NOTHING to work with

Gal Gadot was also passable at best as WW. Again, script gave her nothing.

Action scenes were nowhere near good enough to help this trash.

Eisenberg was even worse than I thought. Someone literally saw Carey in Batman Forever and said "Yeah, we need more of that!"

The ending. LMFAO at the ending.

3/10. Said score might go lower. The more I think about this shit, the angrier I get.

Supes deserves better.

Batman deserves better.

DC fans deserve better.

Spot on.

Ultron I get, but there was no way they were gonna put OG Mandarin on screen. Same reason why they cast Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One.

BS, mandarin was just fine in that movie until they needed that plot twist for a couple of laugh, it was a waste if an Idea that look great with Kingsley as a villain.

I don't remember that scene. Could you explain?

Cap is about to re-enter the farmhouse after following Thor outside. He's about to re-enter when he stops, the camera is inside the house looking outside, waiting, but Cap turns around because he feels he can't be a part of that world.

That whole scene is a shoutout to the old western movie, The Searchers

What does the next panel look like?

Snyder, on the other hand, insists he gets Superman and is doing him right.

He is doing him right, but everybody is so caught up in their own interpretation of the character while demanding instant gratification, that they're not letting Snyder tell the story of how Clark becomes the comic Superman in a real world setting. Justice League is the payoff, even Snyder himself has said as much. Has anybody ever heard of a goddamn character arc? One of the biggest complaints about Superman as a character is that he's boring, too perfect and powerful to tell an interesting story. So we get an interesting story about how he becomes that character instead and all people can bitch about is that they wanted the perfect boring character for the last two films.

I desperately want them to just say screw it, and make Superman a time-displaced hero as well.

Imagine Golden Age Superman in modern times.

Maybe by idiots.

Superman is stupidly easy to get right. He's a good person that does good things.

I can agree with Winter Soldier's Cap. Wasn't feeling the character in Avengers and TFA did too much burying of other characters to sell Cap.

Movie wasn't as good as it could have been, even though I liked parts of it and had high hopes.

Even if JL is a good movie it cant rebound with Snyder and the stigma that's attached to this universe. Get him off

Read Superman Birthright. Watch Batman Begins.

The payoff should have been in the first movie. I shouldn't have to buy 3 movie tickets for the titular protagonist to become an compelling character.

Has Snyder said this? This is the arc I've assumed they're going for, but I've not had any confirmation.
