Uncharted 4 preview thread. New footage/info

Isn't the problem with Uncharted in that Hard mode really just makes enemies even MORE bullet spongey than they already are... which to me isn't extra difficulty, but just an extra annoyance and actually makes the game less believable since people seems strangely resilient to bullets in the face! :p

Agree with TLOU, the listening mode helped to take away some of the tension (of an already tense as fuck game though)... I don't really see what this brings to Uncharted and I think I'll switch it off, more just because I hate how so many 3rd person action games constantly silhouette every enemy or interact-able NPC etc. REALLY takes me out of the experience to see lines around everyone and everything.
No. Not in Uncharted 2, and Bruce Straley was game director on that too.

Can someone please link me to the "best" playthrough of the new demo? Someone who doesn't suck at the game, basically. :P

If I was at one of those press events and Neil or Bruce was nearby, I would have gotten down on my knees and begged for them to let me play it at least on hard; plenty of people played it badly and got away with it without dying. I don't think I was completely satisfied with any of the ~5 playthroughs I've seen, and that includes Sony's official video.

Biggest difference in hard mode/crushing mode in Uncharted is the damage you take and the ability to aim by the enemies. Also they are more aggressive (on top of the fact it's harder to move around so the baseline aggression is more noticeable too).

I thought they also take more body shots, but that might be only compared to Easy mode, can't remember.

At least in Uncharted collection they don't really feel any more spongey than they should. The only really stupid enemy in Uncharted is the Uncharted 2 gorillas and the Uncharted 3 helmet chaingun dude... fucking hate that guy.

Has there been any confirmation as to what difficulty these previews are on?

From what the previewers were saying in some videos I think Easy or Normal. Hopefully it's easy, the reaction time of the enemies was kind of too long.

This looks so goooood. I can't decide which version to go for... Regular edition physical? Digital? Or the special edition? I keep changing my mind.

I'm still hoping the supernatural twist this time is aliens. People would hate it, but fuck me, I want some "Greys" in this game.

I'm curious if "hard mode" will be the way to go this time similar to what happened with The Last of Us. I know this won't have the crafting/item management or survival aspects, so I'm inclined to believe it won't be as definitive—if at all.

What luke said above.

In all three Uncharted games, 9/10 enemies can be killed with one bullet.
Headshot.

Uncharted does not have "bullet sponge" enemies. You could only think that if all you ever landed body shots. (E.g. you were playing badly.)

While I do agree mostly that a lot of enemies in UC could be killed with a bullet to the head there are definitely some giant heavily armored guy with a gattling gun style enemies that absorbed ammo, especially on harder difficulties. UC3 I felt had several parts where you were shut into a small arena with this type of enemy.

Uncharted 3's lack of any hit reactions made the enemies feel like sponges as well.

The UC3 Co-op sometimes had enemies with ridiculous amounts of health.

I want this game to be hard as fuck, I really hope they're going over the top with some kind of brutal difficulty setting like the U collection.

I was going to ask this same thing. As a veteran Uncharted player and QA on the original demo, I found all except maybe a little of Riot's playthrough to be very poor.

I have this terrible feeling that they are going to kill off Nathan Drake. :(

I think that Sam will get too greedy and overreach, resulting in his own death or the death of Elena or Sully. It will serve as a final lesson to Drake that he needs to stop adventuring. But he'll still be alive for when he's thawed from cryostasis 200 years in the future to save the world from space pirates in Uncharted: Savage Starlight.

If you watch a few of them, if you see the sheer amount of hits the player takes, and you remember that in past games one of the things that was affect by difficulty was health, than its safe to assume this was on an easy setting.

Are Ars Technica stoned? in game models is debatable and they are probably right (wouldn't say pale though, just that QB's models are better) but animations?! One of QB's biggest flaws (among others like IQ, shadows, severe pop ins etc) which DF also mentioned, are practically the animations, they are very dated, and U4's are at the top, it must be a joke.

How can a technical site can claim such thing? it's seriously embarrassing.

Sorry for the late comment, I just seen the quote :P

Young Drake & Sam. Not really a spoiler!

MGS V exactly does this (snake drops the weapon once the player stop aiming) but for some reason ND didn't implement it

Haven't played it but I guess that's the logical thing to do in this case (though my suggestion gives option to keep the gun without dropping it and possibly re-claim it later, dunno if that's the case in MGS V.)

This game to me just looks above everything else and I'm not saying it has the best texture work I've ever seen, or best animation I have ever seen, but as a complete package it looks better then anything else I have ever seen. It doesn't do just one thing great, it does all the things pretty great.

I just watched the official demo and damn, that looks open world. And the graphics are simply flawless. Swinging around looks so fun and that banter takes me back. Go to hell ND for delaying this. D;

Yer that would be cool. Is that Elena in the boat with him?

I wondered that when I first saw this concept art, but I couldn't tell for sure. It seems a bit unlikely given what we've seen from the game so far. I would be very surprised to see Elena taking part in this adventure, despite her being quite important story-wise.

That being said, Naughty Dog are showing what they want us to see...

I wonder if it will be as important as the jeep, in the sense that it is not there just to some setpiece or something like it?

I feel like the boat will be used to explore an archipelago before reaching the main island as seen in these images. Moreover, this exploration part will probably be completed by some underwater sequences.

I doubt the main island will be centered around the use of vehicles, but I can imagine
using an inflatable boat in order to navigate through ruins like it was shown in this concept art.
Of course, it's all speculation at this point.

Really positive preview from USgamer, by someone who wasn't really a fan of the originals.

Shoutout to the guy previewing as well, nice to see some gameplay from someone with an actual decent aim.

Pleasant playthrough. I haven't heard the conversation at the end before. It makes me excited to listen to everything these guys have to tell.

Edit : Nate will rest on the steering wheel if you're idle. See 14:29.

Yeah, I agree!

Hype.
