Is Quantum Break Worth Full Price? (Xbox One)

If you don't care much about it, I'm sure the price will drop soon.

But yeah, I'm happy with paying $60.

Thank you for this perspective. The 'not enough combat' bit is interesting, though. I thought Alan Wake had too much combat for what it was.

Maybe it has the right balance for you then. It might be that I feel this way simply because the combat is so enjoyable. Despite the issues I have with the game, just about every encounter put a smile on my face. There are also a ton of extra story details scattered throughout the game, which are quite easy to find using an altered vision mechanic. I found myself reading more of these than I do in other games too, as I found myself caring about the characters.

For what it's worth I'm about 40% through the game and I'm not feeling very good about my purchase.

I'm a big Remedy fan, too.

God, no. I beat it in 9 on hard and it's not a good game. I found it to be thoroughly mediocre even though I love 3rd person shooters, Remedy games, and powers-based shooters.

Might have to pass on this one...

As a Remedy fan I think its pretty great. They've been up front with what it is about, has cool combat imo and the show - whilst episode 1 was alright, has gotten much better in episodes 2/3. Im looking forward to going through all the junction point stuff again later making different choices too

i'll quote myself from the other thread

done my second playthrough now.
i think Alan Wake is far and away the better game. better written with a more developed story and characters and honestly, a better playing game, too. enemy evasion and resource management on higher difficulties makes QB look its always got training wheels on with its power cooldown times.
i also believe Alan Wake made better use of the tv show structure with better constructed chapters and chapter transitions. similarly, its heavy use of in game collectibles in the form of Wake's manuscript pages were better thematically integrated into that game than they are in QB (reading emails every 20 ft on randomly discarded cellphones and tablets is a weird gameplay conceit that breaks immersion and suspension of disbelief somewhat).

QB is okay, but its no AW.

Nope. True shit. You can even watch some playthroughs on twitter. Even under 4 hours.

Are you skipping the entire story? I mean watching the episodes alone adds roughly 2 hours to the base game. I just can't see it being possible and if it is is call it a speed run not a play through.

So is your claim that some people can conceivably beat the game in under 4 hours if they skip all collectibles, exploration and cutscenes? Or is your claim that the game will last just 4 hours even if you explore, collect, etc...?

Because plenty of people are spending between 8 hours to 15 hours on a first playthrough. Never mind the time that may be spent on second playthroughs.

wasn't dark souls 3 beaten in like 2 hours

Oh shiiit, Dark Souls 3 only 2 hours long confirmed.

I mean, you could finish Far Cry 4 without actually playing any game and waiting for the opening cutscene to go on for 15 minutes, I guess Far Cry 4 can be done that quickly then...

Funny how you responded to other members that called you out but ignored my post that asked for evidence. And no, telling people to watch Twitch doesn't count.

You could say those things, but you'd sound like a sad little troll. Not a good look, maybe best to avoid.

I think it is. My first playthrough on normal clocked in at 10.5 hours. I didn't rush through it but I didn't really explore much. I didn't go out of my way to collect things and I didn't even find enough points to fully upgrade my powers. I'll definitely go through it a few more times and this game gives much more incentive for multiple playthroughs with branching story paths. I'm a BIG Remedy fan and I think this is their strongest release so far! Also if you don't currently own Alan Wake then you get that and the DLC for free as well.

I never played the game, but all people who bought it looks like they are enjoy it... i don't know, i would buy it for $60. That's just me though.

When did I say or agree with this. I personally believe 10 hours isn't enough.

Those posts were directed at a person that said QB is a four hour game because there are Twitch streamers completing it in that time. The DS comments were sarcastic and meant to highlight the ridiculous nature of the claim.

It really depends on how you value your money. I can't wait until I play it but I'm not biting just yet. I have DS3 on the way this week and big Destiny/Division patches, and a giant backlog, so I figure why not wait to see if it drops or goes on sale? I was sort of bit in the ass with RotTR because it dropped in price so damn fast. I don't think games should have forced MP or anything but there is a value argument for a 10 hour game vs a much bigger game like DS3 if you're into both.

This is such a strange thread. If you can't play it for awhile then wait. Best case the price goes down. It's not like the price will go up. You can't really lose unless you are worried about getting a copy with Alan Wake.

As a huge fan of Remedy titles. it feels absolutely worth it.

It's the first game with TPS shooting mechanics this gen that makes me feel like I'm orchestrating some ballet of death. It's a ton of fun experimenting in huge shootouts with all the time abilities, and it reminds me of messing around with shootdodge for the first time in Max Payne 1 and having my mind blown.

The story itself hasn't really captivated me like the Max Payne titles, or Alan Wake- but I chalk that up to not being as entranced by sci-fi themed anything. And yet, even with the pacing and the search of collectibles, every shootout has left me wanting more. It's the first time ever, outside of maybe a Gears related title, that I want an endless horde mode. The combat feels so dynamic, erring on the easy side, but every particle, every bullet trajectory, every ragdoll animation- just has me entranced.

Starting Act 5, just having a wickedly good time with it. I bet it'll drop in price, as reviews seemed pretty divisive, but I love a lot of it.Very much so!

I'm not even sure why we're arguing about this.

A game like Super Mario Bros. can be completed quickly by using warp zones and skipping most of the experience if one is so inclined. It doesn't make the game less any awesome if you choose to go through each world in order.
