PS4 Neo settings: locked 30fps, 1080p, good AA and AO, smooth shadows and longer draw distance
PSPoor settings: 20-30fps, dynamic resolution, low AA, jaggy shadows, more noticeable pop-in
This seems optimistic.

Well it won't be as drastic as Wii U > PS4 so it shouldn't be too difficult for developers to code on both. Especially if NX is x86.
So you don't think Sony's going to be pushing you to spend money on the upgrade at all? You don't think games going forward are going to be incentivized to favor the Playstation Neo? Do you actually think Sony's just going to put this out there and be totally fine if nobody actually buys it because it's not necessary?
I could see MS launching a Xbox One Slim this year and wait till next year for an upgraded Xbox One. Phil Spencer has stated that he expects if they do it, it's going to be a big jump
Keeping hoping. This nowhere near as toxic as DRM.

You should start saving up for the ps4.8 in another 2 years.
Can anyone explain this in Dragonball Z terms for me?

According to this rumor, and its all we have, no? It actually says pretty much the opposite. So you don't think Sony's going to be pushing you to spend money on the upgrade at all? Everybody wants to be Apple lol.
A controller upgrade would be really nice. Nothing too substantial just build it with good materials along with a great battery life. I'm on my 6th DS4 now and I'd really like a robust controller that lasts for 3 - 4 years at least.
No, no, they will either go to NX (which is rumored to go to same model) or better yet PC (where specs change every year or even more often). That will show Soony and that Cerny fellow.Guess you don't own an up to date smartphone of any kind then. If you do I hope you're still on the valium you must have needed when making the decision...
why are you asking leading questions when they're answered in the article
The hyperbole...
If NEO launches late this year, that's three years after the PS4. That's less than a traditional cycle and I don't like it, but let's not go nuts calling this a smartphone cycle or throwing out pessimistic numbers to make things seem worse than it is.
On the NX being more powerful than the PS4, i'm still waiting to see it to believe it. Shouldn't be difficult at this point, but you have to be a little skeptical with Nintendo when it comes to power. If NX is more powerful than OG PS4, I guess a lot of people, myself included, would likely switch to NX for their multiplatform needs. If NEO is more powerful than NX, that at least "stops the bleeding". I guess Sony recognizes that their power advantage is significant in an age where all consoles are pretty much the same, and first party output is lacking all around.
they sure will split the install base?
this will split even development resources, more QA ...

To combat a 3 year cycle on consoles you will convert to a platform where new hardware comes out on a yearly basis.

The end of "buy it and you're set" consoles as we know it.
I hate this. If I wanted to join the technological power rat race I'd just get into PC gaming.
The PS4 is Vegeta.
The PS4 Neo is Goku.
No matter how well the PS4 will run a game, the Neo will just run it better.
No one Sony disallowed devs doing that. Did you not even bother to read the op?
Thats not neccesarily not saying they wont incentive you to buy the ps4 neo does it? It just says there wont be any special features as in unlockables etc.
When your regular ps4 runs the newest game at 20fps with screentearing and no aa but the ps4 neo has the real shit because its not really optimized for the old ps4. Oh well you can think of so many situations.

The rumours are clearly not going to go away and the improvements are now widely accepted so Sony would have to just plug into that rumour. The fact this has addressed every concern just feels well timed.
Generate new sales. Compete against other publishers putting out games that DO support it. Sony will be making sure this is not a headache for developers and it should be relatively simple to go back and bring about some simple enhancements utilising that extra horsepower. Some will be literal framerate improvements, others will go to greater lengths and improve texture performance, AA and so on. Why not create good will amongst the fan base of your game and give them a PS4 NEO improvement?
What meltdowns? The thread seems pretty tame so far.

So it's not a major upgrade? What's the point then? Just seems unnecessary. I personally won't be paying another 350 for some nicer textures and a bit of a smoother frame rate. It's pointless really. And I'm not sure most of the console crowd will do either. How's about give us good games instead?
