Game soundtracks on vinyl | Analogue Gen 33fps

Should be getting a long awaited album announcement today along with pre-orders going up. As a hint, I'll just say this is an easy "DEFINITIVE" "BLIND" buy.
I'm shit at hints. Is it OutRun?

So for anyone who's recieved it already, how does the transparent/smoky SoR2 sound? Wanted the black but I missed out.
Same boat. I tweeted Data Discs and they said they may have some more black pressings come up in a few weeks. *may*

Can I say it? I don't want to stop encouraging people from dropping hints, and I'd rather not if it will make people be quiet next time in this thread!

I've put the pieces together too. It's not something I've played so can't say I share the same excitement, will probably regret not getting in on the vinyl after I do :/

Come on, spill all the beans. why are people keeping it a secret if you just wrote "probably guessed it" and not telling at what you think it is? :D

Ori and the Blind Forest? Gotcha, thanks :D

Just got the Black Materia 2LP and I have to say that I love it when labels hide hidden messages and stuff in the runouts on the records :)

It has the Nibelheim safe combination in the side b runouts and the piano notes (well, the corresponding PS controller buttons) that you have to play to get Tifa's last limit break on side d.

Am I going to get Ori?

YEP.

Just a heads up to those considering the glow-in-the-dark version of Ori. Glow-in-the-dark variants almost always have additional surface noise and/or sound flat. They look cool, but the other version is likely going to sound better.

EDIT: I still think the glow-in-the-dark one will sell out fast tomorrow, though - only 500 copies.

Not paying an additional $15 for more surface noise, and it's not even a gatefold.

I can't say I'm happy about the lack of Gatefold (I'll complain about this on 2xLP, $35 releases until the day I'm dead), especially for a game with so much good art. It deserved a huge, beautiful spread :/

Obviously still getting the $35 version!

!

I can't go into much detail, but rest assured there WILL be a gatefold, I've seen the sketch.

well, seems like iam8bit ordered a couple thousand copies more of No Man's Sky :D 1381 copies left.

Quantum Break has 1800+ copies left
Battletoads has 380+
Perfect Dark 190+
Banjo Kazooie 180+
Journey 150+
Uncharted box 20+

Where are you getting these numbers from?

Do I need to buy Dustforce ASAP

Just a friendly reminder that Glow in the Dark vinyl is... not great sound quality wise. The recent glow in the dark reissue of Wavves King of the Beach warned people at checkout and came with a card reminding people to ground their record player to try to kill any static that the material may give off.

That would go for all special/transparent vinyl, yes? I believe solid colours are okay but anything that's a bit funky is probably not going to be the best to listen to.

What the fuck. I didn't even know about this Wavves reissue. I will need to research that haha. Ori looks wild.

In my experience it's primarily glow-in-the-dark and picture disc records that have noticably lower sound quality due to their differences (and some newer picture discs actually sound pretty decent). Arguably black should be superior in sound quality, but at this point the overall pressing quality of a record is more important than what color or effect is used in making it (unless it's some over-the-top-effect like embedded glitter, string, meteor dust, pubes, etc.).

no, all coloured vinyl, as long as it's made of vinyl will have an equal sound quality to black records.

and just like rpbtz said, if it has extra material in there, be it an image or fairy dust, that can make the record behave abnormally.

Man, I was kinda grateful there hasn't been any new vinyl announcements lately, and then Ori comes along. Gonna have to pick that up today, because the soundtrack is quite beautiful.

Damn you iam8bit! (shakes fist at sky)

The non-glow Ori is actually a blue and purple double LP, which is nice.

I think I'm going to get the glow-in-the-dark one anyway, though. I don't listen to my records terribly often, and the glow is just more fun.

I'm gonna pass on the glow in the dark and get the colored double. I snagged Journey and Uncharted today.

Yeah I definitely don't blame anyone for passing on the glow Ori. I don't think it really justifies $15 extra, but I make poor purchasing decisions.

Poor purchasing decisions? Tell me about it... Might pick up a standard copy of Ori later if the GitD sounds as poor as one could expect.
