Can't you guys just... pretend MW Remastered is a $60 (or whatevs) purchase and you get a free game with it?

Yeah, honestly this isn't a bad way of thinking about it. I'll never touch IW, but that's fine with me. I would pay $60 for a barebones remaster of the multiplayer alone. After Halo 2, CoD4 is the game I have the most friend/online nostalgia for and I'd love to get that feeling back, even just for a few hours.

I just checked the FAQ for MWR and it says 'full game digital download' which makes me think it's going to be a code inside the box.

At least I hope it is.

Hmmmm, yea, I think it would have said "expansion" or "add-on" if you needed to launch it from the IW's menu.

Okay crisis averted, almost. They just need to confirm it.

Fuck this. I'll vote with my wallet and wait until they make it available separately.

I'll take Halo or Destiny for futuristic stuff, thanks Activision. Come on Ubi, drop Siege and do a Rainbow Six remaster.

What if the only way to play MW:Remastered is for the console to check that you own Infinite Warfare?

As MW is required to be opened through a Menu button from Infinite Warfare. Now that would be hilarious.

watch it be a GAME exclusive and do exactly that

It's being sold on Amazon so I doubt it. Usually GAME has exclusives right off the bat when it comes to preorders, especially for something with such a clear release date as this.

I'm really hoping the price goes down though. Fuck paying the price of two brand new games just to play a remaster of a 9 year old game. I'm hyped for MW:R but not that hyped.

If that never changes I won't be buying it. As a married dad I don't really have time for competitive shooters any more, but I did want to relive the MW campaign...

You'll get a Rainbow Six remaster but in order to get it you will have to buy Siege 2.

It's not really an expansion or addon to IW though, it's a full game.

All of you guys saying to buy the game to get the code and trade aren't thinking of the possibility that you might need to actually run IW in order to play MWR. Throws that whole strat out of the window.

I agree. I think you will need to start MW from the IW main menu. Regardless ill buy the game just for MW.

The online population for this game is going to be miserably small if they lock it behind the limited edition

It could also mean you need IW to redeem the code in the box that gives you an add-on for IW that happens to be MWR you can access in-game. Alice: Madness Returns did this exact same thing if you wanted to play the original Alice.

Call of Duty would sell big anyway. A new entry doesn't need something like this to sell. The remaster would sell tons by itself. Activision wtf.

Makes sense. People here realize COD is still gonna sell insanely well, like it does every year, right?

Nobody cares if you're not gonna buy it.

On an unrelated note, this is the first COD I'll buy since BlOps. Can't wait.

I don't see how this pisses people off. They are not obliged to develop the remasters, they could have sold these separately in place of one of the yearly sequels and still make bank. This way, the new Call of Duty has insane value proposition, how is that a bad thing?

How? It only comes with the legacy edition that's $20 more ($80)

Your binding an entire remastered game complete with its own multiplayer ecosystem to a digital download code tied to the preorder of a game that is not even hype?

Good luck with that.

Of course not. Pretty clear this was a hostage situation from the get go.

I can see it happening for sure down the line in a couple years, but they have to maximize those super ultra edition sales first.

It's a good, smart business decision, even if I disagree with the mentality behind it.

I mean this makes sense from a business standpoint. Why release two CODs on the same day and split the player base and effect sales? Like if I had the choice I would just buy MW and skip the new game which is precisely what they'd like to avoid.

Honestly this doesn't even bother me that much. I'm sure 6 months after they'll release it as a download.

I have no interest at all in IW, but really want MWR. Great business decision on their part. I'm just going to trade in IW after redeeming CoD4.

From this news, it seems like any supposed stand alone price would be 19.99, which i think would be absolutely fair, but if they won't bite, i can't really see why i would to buy IW.

Leaving money on the table

Can't you guys just... pretend MW Remastered is a $60 (or whatevs) purchase and you get a free game with it?

This may be the way I do it. I've been meaning to give a current-gen CoD another chance after MW2 burned all its bridges to me, and at least this way, I'll get one game I know I'll enjoy alongside another I'll take a risk on.

But I'll only buy digital. No way is a CoD game taking up physical space in my life again.

So, to avoid IW bombing (by CoD standards anyway), they package the part people actually want with the new title and hike up the price significantly = $$$$

Smart move, but I refuse to buy into it. I still believe there will be an eventual separated download version.

Otherwise, with the limited amounts of these collector's editions, the online community will be rather dead.

Not interested in IW, but with GCU I'll play it then trade it in for ~$40 and still have MW for a grand total of ~$24 plus tax. Subtract another $10 if BB decides to hand out gift cards for pre-ordering. I'm okay with this.
