So its not better or equal to UC2 :(

Or maybe you know........ reviewers are harsher this gen?

Witcher 3 for example would probably have gotten 98 metascore last gen I'm sure of it

90-95 is insanely good.

also not to mention UN2 is the first masterpiece great game from ND last gen and it was way more unique and light year improvement from the first game.

the 8.8 from IGN is throwing me off. I've read the review and it reads more like 9.0+. it mainly got counted off for not raising the bar in every facet imaginable cause Naughty Gods. don't see how this game deserves a lower score than Drake's Fortune from the looks of it.

dont fixate on the score then....

Yea no doubt, If Skyrim was a 96 with all of its problems that TW3 would probably get 96-98 as well couple of years ago.

It got marked down for having poor pacing in the overlong third act. Obviously opinions will differ but if that's how the reviewer feels I can see why she knocked off a mere 1.2 points. 8.8 is still a fantastic score.

I don't mind what the overall MC score is, or how it reviews everywhere. I have seen enough to know it's a great game. Now i'm more interested in how I will personally feel saying good bye to these characters. I think i'll be sad in the end.

Great to see someone who realises this! MC score nowadays is heavily skewed (and less reliable therefore) by so many reviewers who do not realise this, refreshing to see (a former)one who does.

Reviewers definitely know about this, they experience it all the time, they just strive to press on and ignore it. Which is all you can do, especially when you're being paid to provide your critical opinion.

It's a hard line to walk. Basically people should trust critics a bit less.

It doesn't need to. At the end of the day, score is just a measure system for comparison. What important is the review itself. Based on all these reviews, they have the same statement: Uncharted 4 is a perfect ending to Uncharted franchise (at least for Nathan) and I bet ND are proud since they get what they want

Damn I've been waiting for this! Planned to play this during my terminal leave but my company wouldn't allowed it because they wanted to maximize my remaining days! DAMN!

I just have to give credit to the Naughty Dog guys, if you are reading this. I know that you guys must be tired of long days and hard nights but we gamers really appreciate the passion that you put in every day. I still remember when i bought a PS3 just to play the first game almost 10 years ago, and now I am just a few days away from playing the ending of my favorite gaming series of all time. Never stop making games, we love you ND!

So much this!
Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Daxter, Uncharted, TLOU. You guys man... T_T

Naughty G....

People who didn't play U4 but complain about a review score (not the review, the NUMBER) from someone who played the game entirely.

I don't understand.

This is an interesting point, I've always felt ND gets their pacing just right, so I'm very curious about how stretched this 3rd act is. Personally i'm hoping to be so into it, that I don't want it to end, that's how TLOU made me feel.

i don't think reviewers got super harsh all of sudden. their reviews seem much in line with past years. If anything people are giving out 10s much more easily than before. The problem is that there's been fewer games that are truly standout than before.

Giving a Druckmann game a 8.8?

Nah son.

His games are sacred.

Him and Ken Levine deserve nothing more than 10's everywhere.

True gods among the gaming industry.

The graphics quote from this review...

"Uncharted 4 will be, by a long distance, the most beautiful video game you have ever played. From the vast wind-swept cliffs of a frozen Scottish coastline, to the bustling streets of a sweltering Madagascan town, Uncharted 4’s immense scale is outshone only by its unprecedented attention to detail. There aren’t enough hours in the day to admire some of Uncharted 4’s scenery - it's as though Naughty Dog was given access to the next generation of consoles years before everyone else. Visually, it puts every other blockbuster to shame"

Reminds me of what some of the early impressions said, like ND has access to a better hardware or something :)

whoa, this's a strong statement and hardly seen in review these day. Can't wait for May 10th :3

Ign... That's what happens when u let ign Australia rate the game. If one of the podcast beyond guys reviewed it, it would have gotten a better score.

Well, many of the first impressions players that were toward the end said they don't want it to end, so yea, it's subjective.

I remember U2's end sections to be pretty annoying but it wasn't bad enough to detract from the overall experience, hopefully I'd feel the same here as well.

People are seriously upset over an 8.8....anyway glad to see the game is reviewing well. Looks phenomenal, cant wait to play it in 5 days

TW3 is considered by many to be one of the best RPGs ever, you really think it wouldn't score more than 92 couple of years ago?
I think you're wrong, big time.

There are more quotes from other reviews of "best looking game ever" or "best looking on consoles" but I won't bother to bring them, the picture is clear, the visuals are something special and almost everybody are blown away by it.

They must have made some serious changes to the gameplay for an overall score like that. We'll see.

Every impression from gaffers that I read, it doesn't make any serious changes in gameplay but improve it from previous games (included TLoU). I think the game gets great reviews because of perfect combination of gameplay, cinematic cutscene, story, voice acting and art direction. That's what I got from reading reviews

You should look up the Uncharted 3 review thread. It was the carnival to end all carnivals.

Already did!

Anyway I'm tired of the trend that everything can be rated, benchmarked, given a number ; and in the video game community it ends up in scores battles and people either saying "yeah GOTY" judging by numbers put out together or insulting reviewers that put a score that isn't a 9/10-10/10 because they have their own appreciation of the game. Also the reviews in themselves are often of very bad quality, they just check boxes (are graphics ok? is gunplay fun? is the story good enough? is it too short? etc.)

Another masterpiece of a game on the SP side. Mad props to the team. MP won't hold me until they release CO-OP but that's fine. TLOU2 or Savage Starlight...more greatness.
