GOTY for me, I have finished it on Normal and almost on Hard now, one thing does bother me though...when you are stealth and your ally is catching up with you, they sometimes are running about in the open literally meters away from the enemy and they dont get seen, even on Hard mode :-\

Isn't that how it worked in TLoU?

You know the funniest thing about the whole situation? Is there were more people talking about meltdowns in this review thread pre embargo than actual meltdowns. And the only "meltdowns" are people clearly faking it and trolling to try and put a bad name. It's actually been very civilised. You compare it to recent review threads for AAA release and it's actually very peaceful.

To be fair, there's very little to get angry about when the game ends up being the (currently) highest rated game of this generation. :p

Dear Naughty Gods,

It's me, Spin, are you there? I've been with Uncharted since the PS3 was fucking $599 US Dollars. Actually, I'm just kidding, I got the PS3 when it dropped to $299. The moment I finished the first one I knew this franchise could be special, then Uncharted 2 came out and I would play it in front of people to impress them and shit. The game was phenomenal and pretty much made me a massive fan of the franchise. Then UC3 was announced and I was like, oh shit, Nate is in the desert. Oh shit, Nate is plane wrecked. Oh shit, Nate is sexy and has a scarf. While people were hard on UC3 I ate that shit up and enjoyed the dimensions it added to the characters and series itself. Some aspects of it could've been better, but it was still great.

Now this game approaches and gaming has caught up to the Uncharted formula and has tried with fervor to match those epic E3 Uncharted tech demos game demos. But unfortunately for them this one is on new hardware, so you guys will likely raise the bar yet again leaving those guys in the dust. Looking forward to the game and even more Assassin's Creed Easter eggs. You guys are great and I hope you guys continue doing great things. It's been real.

- Sincerely Spin

There would have been meltdowns if there were enough poor reviews. Everything has been quite positive.

There's that line in TDK from the Joker about what happens to civilized people when the chips are down. I think that applies to AAA review threads on GAF as well.

LOL!!! This is just asking to get shot in mp!!!

To be honest, I think the stealth AI (whose implementation I like, cause screw having the AI fuck you over) is less problematic in UC4 then TLOU because UC isn't as reliant on stealth.

So for me, who went guns blazing throughout the UC4 campaign, it was hardly an issue.

Did you try hard or crushing mode? Do you see ammo reduced in those modes?

Yeah, im playing earthbound now and enemies can initiate a battle by running into my teammates which is obnoxious and almost always results in them getting a surprise attack.

That is a proper bastard. Persona 3 handled this well IIRC. They get in their own instanced fight and you gotta help them - but no surprise attack is invoked.

The only point at which Naughty Dog will allow AI teammates to be seen is when the teammates AI is as good as an experienced human player of action videogames. Which is probably a few games away yet. For AI to be good in terms of shooting is difficult - to be good at it in terms of sneaking and improvisation as well is fucking everest levels of complex challenge.

Well, I personally don't care for Uncharted and I kinda wanted a crazy review thread, but that was dumb of me, and I apologize.

Good games come every couple of months.

Legendary threads? A few in a lifetime.

The explanation makes some sense, but it's still odd wishing hat something that 300+ people worked so hard to be mildly received (and having bigger impact in sales, bonuses, etc) just for us to have some laughs on the internet.

I think it's because of game design choice and I'm glad they do that. It would be frustrated if we got detected when it wasn't our fault
Exactly. I believe while developing Last of Us, ND did play around with the AI partner being visible to enemies at all times (rather than only visible to them once you've been detected) and it was leading to a lot of player frustration as they didn't have direct control over the AI parner's actions.

It's an immersion breaker that you need to overlook for game design's sake.

I do not know what this means, care to enlighten?

Jeff Bakalar, the man who does most of the video game review stuff for CNET is also a regular on Giant Bomb's East Coast podcast, the Beastcast. Vinny Caravella, the man running the podcast and member of the Giant Bomb team would ask Jeff why he doesn't give out scores. Hilarity ensues. Everyone wins except Jeff.

Yeah, they did. They're on record saying that even a few months before TLoU's release, the AI was far more capable and teammates were visible, and it was just not fun. They did loads of rebalancing/tweaking like 2-3 months before release and we got legend.

To be fair, I wanted the game to be good more than that. Again, I feel dumb for thinking that.

Ahhh, okay, lol.

Silly, they score everything else on that site it seems.

This thread is boring, everyone was hoping for Uc3 like thread and we got this.

Bah

Joking lads :p
I'm personally enjoying the faux-outrage in this thread that's basically mocking/parodying the uncharted 3 thread, way better than any legit meltdowns would've been imo. Meltdowns are just cringeworthy to me rather than entertaining.

Oh man, I'm so conflicted as I love me some Uncharted but after not even getting to the mid-way point of RotTR and Quantum Break I am worried the similar genre fatigue will carry over to this even with the understanding that this series is a step above. Combine those thoughts with the impending release of a new DOOM, I may push this to the summer drought of games when I'm craving something new to play and will probably appreciate it's excellence more.

Wait a min... from Jim's review:

Charismatic sociopath Nathan Drake has decided to go home and be a family man. Happily married to Elena following the events of Uncharted 3, our bloodthirsty treasure hunter is dragged back into the world of thievery and plunder due to unshakeable family ties. Nathan’s got a problem, and the only solution is manslaughter without consequence.

It’s easy (and fun) to point out the dissonant nature of the Uncharted series, how almost unsettling it can be to witness such a charming wisecracker mowing down hundreds of people without ever questioning his actions.

Is this dude serious? I thought this shit was a meme driven by trolls. I did not think a journalist would be standing by this. GTFO with this haha...

Just wow...

Depends on why you play those games. Me thinks that RotTR and QB have far weaker narratives than Uncharted 4.

Don't review threads for exclusive games usually have a higher propensity for meltdowns?

Yep...Undertale was one of the absolute worst situations ever not just here, but across the whole internet. And having played it myself recently makes that situation infinitely more embarrassing looking back on it when i didn't even know what much about the game itself.

What made you lose interest in RoTR and QB though?
