I enjoyed Batman v Superman more than Civil War, who is with me?

Are you with me?

I enjoyed BvS more. I felt that it had more problems such as pacing and cohesion but overall I was just more interested in it. Civil War was the same old thing. I don't care about Captain's old girlfriend. I don't care about Bucky at this point. He was great in Winter Soldier but I'm already sick of it. I don't care about Hydra. The whole thing felt like high production value filler. It didn't move the universe forward in any way.

You just admitted that you haven't watch Civil War.

There's implied conflict, but it never feels real. It's just
we'll have A B and C superhero go along with the accords and D E and F superhero be against it. Very little reasoning is giving to any of it, just a split into 2 teams.

And pretty soon it's clear that nobody can restrain any of the superheroes.
Bucky and Capt wreak a swat team, out of nowhere theres another superhero in the Black Panther. Everyone is just fucking everyone else up again, nothings changed. The whole Accords plot boils down to Ironman going "You can't do this!" and Capt going "I have to do this!"
Wheres the drama when one side has no power?

Yes and yes.
That is what i felt at the end of CW.
I did enjoy CW more than BvS, but i dont think CW is best MCU film as the hype goes.

Avengers 1 > CW > AoU. A1 was fresh, theme of Avengers do-or-donot was fresh then, it shows off our heroes gimmicks better than just airport brawling, our heroes power levels are well defined, they are not shown as OP defying 117 countries, it tied up the earlier movies better and its narrative structure flowed point to point clearly, no overly forced down our throat government side-story, and the post credit scene, sets up something big in the MCU better.

Ok guys I just watched civil war and that shit was good the action was good but I don't put the fights above the batman warehouse scene

But guys the movie was completely ruined.... By 2 events..... Like I'm in shock

So I'm chillin with my brother and cousin watching the previews and a hear a baby cry so I'm like oh fuck here we go.. Parents get up start to walk out and THEY DROP THE FUCKING BABY DOWN THE STAIRS... WHOLE THEATRE IN SHOCK... Baby crying loud as fuck I'm like wth man like I can't even reflect on the movie now..

Second thing were an hour in at the black panther scene and this lady bust out a damn fan and rapidly starts fanning herself. Like its a big enough fan to block some of the screen for me.

Otherwise the movie was dope.

Where the fuck do you live? Dropping babies and Giant fans?

They were both messy and I can't say I truly liked either but I was at least less frustrated with BvS. Civil War just had me shaking my head every time Cap was on screen because I found his argument and motivation to be selfish and wrong, so when the movie
had him win and painted him as the right one
I just ended up feeling annoyed. With BvS I was sympathetic for both Batman and Superman.

Idk, BvS was a worse movie but I still just don't care for Marvel's style of action and visual design, and found everyone on Cap's side of the conflict utterly unlikable. Except Ant-Man. Ant-Man was cool.

Edit - Oh also I couldn't get invested in the airport fight because it just seemed like a game to all of them.
"We're still friends, right?", "You were pulling your punches."
Eh. Whatever dude.

I like them both, but Civil War is just on another level. It's the best movie I've seen in years.

I am curious to see how the director's cut of BvS will turn out.

It was a good film, but I'd call that a bit hyperbolic. It could be the best superhero movie in years though.

I'm actually thinking The Winter Soldier was tighter in terms of narrative and plot, but that's just because it focused on Cap instead of everyone in the MCU more or less.

What I'm much more curious to see is how Deadpool fares against Civil War on here.

I may tepidly say I was less annoyed with BvS, but I'd absolutely go full on Deadpool over CW. Not even close imo. Loved that movie.

I'm not sure I'm going to enjoy Deadpool on repeat viewings. Most of those jokes got stale by the time the movie came around because they showed so much of it in the trailers.

You need to select and see better movies.

I see a lot of movies myself, and I thought CW was one of the best movies ive seen in a long time. A great superhero flick is the kind of stuff I live for, though.

LOL Omg... This is the perfect response to this thread.

Yeah I agree with this. I think BvS was objectively "worse" because its editing was trash and it needed better pacing/fleshing out, but I enjoyed it more as an experience. CW just felt predictable and run-of-the-mill, with Spiderman, Antman and Hawkeye feeling like they were just forced into it for the sake of drama and "epic" action shots.

Not to mention that cringeworthy Stan Lee cameo.

Never really felt emotionally invested in anything happening in CW, up until the last 15 minutes or so... Then it just ends. :P

I am not holding up too much hope on BvS. Theres no point to it either. Its not going to surpass Civil War at all.

I understand deriving that type of elation, but claims like that one require distance from the hype cycle and the art being evaluated in order to have merit.

I don't mean to put him down, but he needs to let it marinate before making those claims. However, I understand that things discussed on the internet tend to skip multiple steps on the scale and can only be the best ever or the worst piece of shit ever & everyone that's involved in it's creation should get fired for crimes against the geekdom.

may be using a bit of hyperbole to make my point

Parents that are too cheap for a babysitter.

Then they need to keep their ass home and wait for the home release. I got two kids and not once have I ever brought them with me to the movies while they were babies. I stayed home and waited. It sucks but that's how it is. Only one of my kids is old enough to handle the noise now. She still covers her ears sometimes during particularly loud explosions or whatnot but otherwise she's good. I'm taking her to see Civil War next week. She's seen BvS twice.

poor girl

Just saw Civil War. All I can say is that those who prefer BvS clearly are just looking for completely different things in a movie than I am. The final fight in Civil War was more thrilling and gripping than anything in BvS.

This is my main problem with the film and in general all marvel films. The quips and jokes in between the serious scenes kill all dramatic tension. Like the air port scene. Goes from serious to jokes on and off. Hard to feel to invested.

I don't think the airport fight was ever serious from the moment it started.

Until Rhodes got shot out of the sky.

For me, Civil War's final battle easily, I mean easily, outdoes the Batman vs. Superman fight, because the stakes are there, the history between Stark and Cap are there, the history between Cap and Bucky are there, and everything is tied together perfectly between Cap's undying loyalty to protect his best friend (who is also is one remaining connection to his previous life), Stark's rage and general distrust against Bucky, and the entire theme of accountability that's pervaded the film up to that moment. Yes, Bucky killed all those people - but should he be held accountable for it like the Avengers?

Such an interesting and tense final battle, and the action was no less fantastic. The moment where Bucky pushes Tony back against the wall and starts trying to rip out his chest reactor is amazing. The music really helped, in my opinion.

Batman vs. Superman was just lol random inconvenience, plus kitchen sink. I didn't really like either character so it was just a couple of super-powered goons duking it out from my end.

Kind of like if a friend tried getting you into a show or movie and made you watch a fight scene, for example. You don't really give a shit about either character, haha. Sure, the visuals are nice, but that's really all it amounts to.

CW edges out over Deadpool in terms of overall movie quality, but I think I had more fun in the crowded theater at Deadpool altogether. Really close though.

Very well said with regards to the final fight in CW. I was blown away as it was going. Easily the tensest action sequence in the MCU, and probably one of the first times I actually noticed the score in an MCU film as well. Everything clicked.

I watched it. Hydra, Bucky and Peggy are all plot elements. The rest is in-fighting. It just didn't grab me.

you might want to actually watch the movie.

Most of what you said except Bucky are taking the back seats in this movie.

The similarities between BVS and CW were pretty apparent, Marvel just showed how you do the superhero versus movie properly. You also don't name your movie batman vs superman, how trite.

Just done watching Civil War, more detailed impressions in the other thread. Solid movie, one of the better offerings from Marvel Studio. Better structured movie than BvS, but not without it's flaws.

I feel like CW was a better movie in terms of selling the plot and the motives behind the conflict between Cap & Tony (though I think the reasons for the accord is silly). CW also handled the cameos much better than BvS did, though I'm more excited seeing the short amount of WW on the screen than BP and Spiderman.

Still I liked Batman's warehouse scene more than anything I saw in Civil War. Nothing gave me feels like when Batman was stabbed or shot in the head and him turning on ragebeast mode, seeing Affleck in action was glorious. I also liked Luthor way more than Zemo. Nothing topped showering Superman with polaroids for me, and
the bombing scene was done better in BvS than Civil War, most of the dark scenes were.

BvS feels like it has more highs for me, just shots of stuff like Superman returning to Earth after being hit by the nuke, seeing the trinity fight doomsday, the warehouse fight, the first 20 minutes of the movie and some other scenes were great, but there was also more lows than Civil War like the Knightmare and other dream sequences muddying the plot.

So I think Civil War is better constructed, more consistent and has a more sensible plot, but I did enjoy portions of BvS more than anything in civil war, but that's to be expected as I'm a huge fan of the characters.

Just got back from Captain America. FREAKING FANTASTIC. Though I enjoyed Batman v Superman just as much too. And with Xmen coming in soon, what. A. Time.

Totally agree with your take on CW's final battle. There hasn't been a fight in the MCU that serious since Hulk vs. Abom.

I gotta disagree with the BvS fight though. I thought the film did a great job at building up Batman's anger towards Supes. I'd say it was an even more brutal encounter than the CW fight. I mean, you've got Batman bashing Supes head in with a fucking sink. That was straight up barbaric. You're never going to see anything that dirty in the MCU. I also loved Affleck's lines and delivery during the encounter.

Watched Civil War last night.

Agree in certain aspects with the OP. BvS does some things better IMO. Civil War was great on action but quite shallow to me.

I keep forgetting that they did an Incredible Hulk movie. Watching CW it took me almost a minute to remember that the Sec of Defense was General Ross. All I remember from the Hulk film is that Liv Tyler sucked and Abomination literally looked like a walking lump of diarrhea.

I think I'm just getting tired of the whole MCU feel. Good film but I didn't really care. Looking forward to Dr Strange though.

The recent X films (First Class/Future Past/Deadpool) are where it's at for me.

And I loved most of BvS.
