He isn't lying. My I'm still coming down from that hard chub of a game.

I honestly think the extent of enjoyment and appreciation people will have for the gameplay in UC4, notably with the combat, will largely depend on not only player skill, but the amount the player experimented or mixed things up. UC4 in so many (most?) of the combat arena's, allows you to tackle things in a wide variety of ways, with multiple avenues of access, retreat, flanking possibilities, verticality etc. It's essentially a combat sandbox, so how much people enjoy it will likely largely depend on how much they understood and took advantage of the diverse array of strategic options afforded them.

You could see how so many journalists played and approached the Madagascar preview combat segment so differently, it's a similar thing with many other of the combat segments in the game too. That's why I really do recommend Moderate difficulty first time around, so whilst people are still learning to master all the different mechanics, they can do so without getting bogged down with overly smart or aggressive AI.

Amazon just ship my game already gawdamn what am I paying you for

Loyalty? I was wowed by the music before knowing the composer or knowing I'd be so invested in the series since game one.

I thought it was clear I was being facetious but at the same time, some of those tracks really stand out and add to the experience. I just don't get how they can be "forgettable" compared your standard orchestral score elsewhere.

Loyalty now, not when you started the series. Loyalty in the sense of not accepting change. Changing the composer does not diminish the previous work in any way.
I personally can't judge or compare the soundtracks since I haven't played the game yet, but I've seen a lot of people jumping to conclusions before actually experiencing the game, simply due to so called loyalty.

37 Gigs downloaded

man oh man

This is actually going faster then any of my XboxOne downloads in particular Master Chief collection

Oh, no I'm capable of forming an honest and fair opinion of the new score once I'm playing despite my initial "what?no!". Hell, I loved Golden Abyss' music and that was mostly a different composer.

I was commenting on people dismissing it as if they hadn't even noticed it. How could you not?

Slightly off topic but are there any good high res wallpapers out there? I wanna rep UC4 on my Desktop and can't find any good ones.

True but also there is so much more to it. I seriously feel super limited playing the older games now. Just finished 2 and onto 3.

Got confirmation from Amazon that it has shipped and will be here Tuesday. Yes!! Might just have to work from home that day....

Just beat the game.

Guys....

GUYS!!

GOTY.

The graphics are a massive step up.
But not only that, the fucking gunplay is about 1000x better. OMG, it is so god damned good. I can't even go back to UC3 or whatever. This game shits on those games.

UC4 makes Uncharted 1-3 look like amateur hour. Everything about this game is Naughty Dog running at 100%. The PS3 was a damned shackle. Those shackles have been broken with the PS4.

The graphics
The environments
The gameplay
The characters
The traversal is actually fun now
The levels are open, so there is more freedom for combat and exploration

This is the Uncharted to end all Uncharteds. If this is the final Uncharted, they went out with a fucking bang.

You live in the U.S. right? Might be time to cancel your order and go to a brick and mortar store.
what is this nonsense though? first the game gets delayed 3 times and now the retailer is delaying shipment?
Mine still says it's arriving on the 10th, but... nothing after that :/
that's what it says for my Ps4 bundle. the collector's and original say May 16-20
Yeah Amazon delayed my order until May 13 too. Thus I cancelled that crap immediately and bought the game on PS Store instead. Ain't nobody got time for that!
I do. I'm a patient man but I can't say I'm not pissed off.
If I were you I would digitally preorder and get your preload started ASAP.
But why? Why are they delaying the order?

Sounds like the original Crysis where boring people will play a boring game while creative people will play an amazing game.

They're gonna ship mine tomorrow evening. And then I'll get it Tuesday evening. And then I'll play for an hour or two and then I go on a six day trip and I'll have to think about how fucking good the game is the whole time.

Kinda upset at myself for giving that Sterling article a click.

For those who have played it, I haven't heard anything about difficulty spikes at all. That's one thing that has bothered me in ND games. Are there any harsh ones in UC4?

Quite funny light read. I wish there were a bit more winks.. like the endless "this is nothing like the uncharted 3 thread. There is no meltdown. This is a very civilised thread" posts. Jim, if you're reading this thread, you should probably update the article and compare Uncharted to Dark Souls 3 instead of Quantum Break. Oh and of course... thank god for you.

I'm kinda glad I don't really pay attention to Jim. Don't really understand why he pays attention to trolls. But I'm not a fan of his, so who am I to judge.

His review had some pretty big issues IMO but I suppose the focus on trolls makes any discussion on that matter irrelevant and impossible to have.

I'm playing this on hard and will move to crushing because I have never found Uncharted games to be difficult. The problem with the more "open combat" is that many of these options are removed from the higher difficulty levels, which means you have to resort to playing Uncharted like before.

For example, marking enemies is removed on the highest difficulty. The rope is pretty much the way to get yourself killed on the higher difficultly levels. You can use it, but it is much easier not too unless you want to risk getting killed. I am also surprised that you can run past many enemies in the game, which makes it a lot easier than the previous games. Also the stealth aspects could have been infinitely improved with the ability to throw objects like Last of Us. I liked how "open" the combat in Last Of Us felt.

I never cared for his schtick. He can score it whatever he wants, but he seems just as obsessed with trolls as they are with his review.

Just an opinion. When I found out the original voice actor for Harry Flynn didn't return because of contract disagreements, I figured a similar situation happened when Greg Edmonson didn't return so Naughty Dog weren't aloud to use it.

That's not how it works. Sony owns the music. Whether Edmonson was asked to return or not, they have the full rights to use Nate's theme to their heart's content.

My memory of these games is such shit and I just played 3 on Friday. I figure a lot of is because I played them on Hard and would get stuck and frustrated on combat encounters all the time, causing me to lose focus on the stories. I still came away from 3 feeling like there wasn't enough Elena, but that's my bias towards favoring her, I guess. She was definitely in 3 less than 1 and 2, wasn't she?

Yeah I think Emily Rose's availability was limited for UC3 because she was the star of Haven on Syfy. So she is definitely in UC3 less than UC2 but she still gets more screen time than Chloe.

The other big hit for UC3 was they lost Graham MacTavish (Charlie Cutter) halfway through filming because he was chosen to be in the Hobbit films. So his role got cut very short all of a sudden.

It feels like they ended up between a rock and a hard place because they had to put together a story around set pieces that were already created (the set pieces were designed first) and had very limited availability for a fair bit of the main cast. UC3 was the first game where Drake spends a significant portion of the game totally alone (most of the second half).

Hey, nib, what difficulty are you currently playing on? I'm deciding to go on Hard the first time because I remember a post from you saying the PSX demo was too easy. My recent subsequent playthroughs of UC 2 & 3 are on Crushing and TLOU on Survivor with Left Behind on Hard the first time, so I think I can take it.

Damn. I want to try and finish up DkS3 before starting UC4 but I don't think that's going to happen. I've only just wrapped up at the Cathedral of the Deep.
Oh lawd, yeah no way is that gonna happen.

I was up till 2:30 AM last night banging my head against a certain optional boss. I hate starting new games before finishing the last. Backlogs gives me anxiety lol.

I'm dying to play the game but will have to have some patience because i ordered the Libertalia Edition from ebay since in my country was more expensive...

Don't know how I'll manage to avoid spoilers lol
Have fun!

Thank you. This clears up some issues I had with UC3.

I had to get through Dark Souls 3, Uncharted 3, and Ratchet and Clank before U4 comes out, but I managed all of them.

DOOM will automatically be going in my backlog when it comes out, until I finish Uncharted.

You've got a ways to go.

Yeah... I had a feeling that I wasn't even close to the end when
Arni
started talking about
Irithyll
and the only way forward for me right now seems to be the
Catacombs
.

Hah, glad you managed to best him in the end then!

Same here. It's going to be hard to put down DkS3 anyway because I'm loving the game so much so far. But all these early impressions has got me itching to play UC4.
