I agree. When those drums start banging and the orchestra kicks in, you know shots about to hit the fan. Likewise with the way it curtails off when they've lost sight of you and you're back in stealth mode. You can use the music ques as much as anything else. I also really like some of the emotive instrumentals during exploration of some of the later chapters.
If anything I think it adds too much tension because I think I'm relatively okay at the game but when really starts up I feel under way more pressure than I would be otherwise.

Out of interest how many play sessions did it take for you to clear the game? I'm getting it midnight tonight and I'll have tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoon to play it before I go away with my GF for the weekend. I'm off all week and plan to play on easy first time through to experience the story with as few deaths as possible before returning for the hard run-through. Think it's doable?

I think the dynamic music in the combat encounters works beautifully. I certainly feel it adds a lot of tension.

I could probably not identify the different pieces by location, but the combat / stealth music worked well for me in many situations.

Ya each to their own. We were playing it and as a group just felt it was terrible and amaturish almost. It also in many places just seems completely at odds with what little is played atmospherically. Sure it beats faster during combat which is great but everything from progression to even just overall choice of theme is without surprise or impact. Personally I feel more like the combat elevates the music and its memory more than the music elevating the combat.
Its interesting to hear a lot of the streamers so down on that in particular. Seems to be, as others have said, fairly divisive.

Fucking Best Buy hasn't even shipped my order yet (it's been "preparing for shipping" for about 2 weeks) Anyone else? Wtf. I'm hopeful the game will still arrive on time, ordered weeks ago.

They shipped the coin Sunday morning. I just got a tracking number for the actual game this morning.

Its one of the main parts I cover in reviews and I have to say. It was very forgettable. Cut and paste, didn't extend into many new instruments for locations which in this game in particular is a damned travesty, the battle music is rote and doesn't really do much but sit there and certainly doesn't add tension, it also has a strange way of being offputting rather than exciting. Other than 1 track which is a heavy nostalgia piece and does wonders, the rest don't connect emotionally to the locations at all either which is absolutely disappointing.

So, no Winter Soldier/First Class kind of quality? I've found those great for action and "heroic" feel. I've certaintly heard something similar in behind scenes productions of Uncharted 4 but maybe that's all there is...

I've not finished it yet. I think I'm on the second to last chapter. So far I've had 3 or 4 play sessions. But I've been taking my sweet time, and won't play if I'm really tired after work or whatever. I want to be fully invested or not at all. I've done pretty well with treasures etc so far as well, and taken lots of screenshots too.

Each to their own but other than the afore mentioned awesome flashback piece, it felt by the numbers.

Damn lucky! I checked and my order still doesn't have a tracking number. I'm sure it will arrive tomorrow since I've never had a launch package late from Amazon, but would love for them to deliver a day earlier.

I've got lucky with a few games like this with Amazon. Might be a Prime thing.

Hello neighbor! I live in Apartment 113!

Not really
I got excited for a moment there lol

Ah cool. Yeah I don't want to do two ten hour sessions as I'll not take it all in and get fatigue. I usually play three hours at a time and as I have two free days I may get 6 hours per day. I won't rush through though. Literally counting the clock to midnight atm.

This! You'll be fine for those whose copies haven't shipped from Amazon yet. Mine always shipped the day before said release date, and sure enough, it was on my doorstep the next day. I think it depends on how close an Amazon warehouse is from your address. In my case, it's NH and I live in RI which is only a few hours away.

Can't wait to play it tomorrow! (Watch me jinx myself and the stupid game gets lost in the mail somehow...)
I don't think I'm particularly close to a warehouse, being in Louisiana, unless they've recently gotten one in Texas. Which they may have, as I've noticed my past few orders have shipped from Texas.

AFAIK, there's been one in Texas for a while, which is where I am.

Ok playing the video review now but audio only (that's all I can take right now :/ )

Christ dude even I would kill myself if I had to listen to me without something visual. Just skip like 5-6 minutes in or something if your going audio only. Spare yourself the headache

Amazon charged me for all 3 orders. The original, the collector's edition, and the Ps4 bundle. But I only got the email for the Ps4 bundle being shipped. What's going on?

haha nah it's quite fine, I'm understanding perfectly. Quality stuff.

Even with amazon prime
Arriving Thursday
Shipping today
one day shipping would have I guess guaranteed release day delivery but wasn't going to pay 5 bucks extra for it

sometimes they combine orders all in the same shipment, if you go to the order tracking details in amazon does it show what is in the shipment? this happened for me on PS4 launch with the console + a bunch of games

Hmm I have a weird problem. Maybe it's because I last played anything on my PS4 like a year ago, and have only been playing on pc, but the camera seems pretty sluggish. I play 30fps games on pc too. There seems to be heavy motion blur or even smear when I move the camera. It makes it feel really sluggish. I remember having the same problem with TLoU remastered. Could this be because of my TV? The motion blur seems really excessive to be a design choice so I think it's gotta be my TV.

Yeah, the coin shipped for me yesterday on "Kentucky Overnight Shipping", which is concerning considering the game hasn't even left the facility yet. But hey, at least I'll have the plastic coin on time!

Your tv for sure.

Whenever possible with Best Buy, I do in-store pick up because their shipping speed is often not going to arrive on release day to home.

If you've been charged, then it is at least in 'preparing for shipment' status.

Contacting Amazon if you're worried about it is probably better than posting in the review thread.

if your amazon prime order isn't getting delivered tomorrow you should definitely hit up customer service and they'll give you some kind of credit or something

Put your TV in game mode and if that isn't an option go into the settings and manually turn any kind of visual enhancement thingie off.

Especially stuff like 400hz motionflow and that kind of garbage. Its ruinous for games.

When I ordered, I was "gauranteed release day delivery", which I screen-capped. I don't get get what was promised to me, I'll raise hell ;)

The beauty of digital preordering is that patches ect... are installed, the game is installed and now all you have to do is select start. Those who get the physical release will get home and have to wait on an install and 2 patches.

Umm... That's unacceptable, unless you ordered today.

Agreed. That said, when ordered, it would have had to have said fulfillment by Amazon, LLC, and would state release date deliver guaranteed if ____ shipping options are chosen when the order was placed.

the Ps4 bundle is going to a different address though. when I look at the shipment it already says it's supposed to arrive by tomorrow, 8pm. which is cool but I'm pretty sure I asked for free shipping...

as for the collector's edition, it says it's "preparing for shipment" while the original, which is what i'm most concerned for myself, says it's "shipping today" even though they both say expected to arrive may 16-may 20. :(
LOL... I see that you're going all out.
The original I preordered courtesy of GAF, some courteous ass gaffer posted a thread with a price error for Uc4 and I got it preordered for $47.

The collector's edition was selling out like crazy and I figure I should just try to get it since this may be the last Uncharted game of the original series. I'll probably sell the game that comes with it coz I don't fuckin like steelbook cases

And the Ps4 bundle is a gift for my cousin who's basically like my brother & has looked out for me for a really long time.

So yes indeed, I am going all out =]

Thanks, will do. Will try fucking everything before going out of the first window lol because this feels too sluggish. I am mentally preparing myself for the fact that I may be fucked and would have to get a better TV which I won't be able to afford in a long long time :D

My Amazon Prime order says Wednesday, really annoyed as I pre ordered this almost a year ago. It's happened for the last 3 game releases I bought from amazon as well.

Just hit up customer service they said they are using UPS to USPS delivery and you have to allow one more day. Doesnt seem fair.

Multiplayer feels terrible right now. People are teleporting everywhere. Also the down system continues to be stupid in uncharted, there is literally zero players looking to revive so it's just a boring 10 seconds or pointless button prompt until you can actually die.

Can anyone who's played through the game comment on the quality of the score. They have a new composer who has done work ranging from average to amazing. How's the music in this game? Memorable?

Best score in the series imo. Manages to not constantly blow its load with nates theme every half hour making way for a more varied and subtle score.

Don't sympathise with this at all.
