I can see that. Civil War tries to break up the chain I guess and their villains have always been a very weak spot. Other than that, death as consequences in comic books has never worked for me so I can't say I'm disappointed when I leave a movie and they didn't kill someone, and heck, that isn't even exclusive to these movies. I also certainly expect protagonists to succeed in most action movies in general, and guess what? They do.
All these series have killed some of their heroes, and it never means anything.
I don't think MCU neccessarily needs deaths but it's in dire need of competant developed villains. Loki is probably the closest thing they have
CW guy probably would count if he wasn't so one and done
The reason why CW war worked was because you cared about everyone involved you had already formed an attachment to these characters so it it meant something when they clashed. There's a very good reason reason for this, because the heroes are the only characters aside from Loki that gets any real character development and character arc. Every other villain is completely hollow. i'm actually astonished by how hollow they are.
