Let's predict if UC4 will be Easy Allies' first perfect score or not.

I will say Yes.

4.9/5 stars.

Yes.

Bah, not a fan of IGNs review in progress scores for this very reason. So many ways to interpret what they just did.

Just the idea that they might have bumped up the score due to pressure from idiots on the internet does not sit well with me.

Own your fucking score.

Exactly, nobody really cared when their reviews in progress didn't have a score.

So it turns out scoring a game before the review is finished is pretty dumb. IGN wanted this no doubt.

They got tons of clicks, IGN is big enough so their reviews are the most read in the first place, but I bet they got double the clicks that they usually get after a big release review.

Even if score-in progress is dumb (and I agree it is) it's worth lots of money, they aren't going to change it unless people will stop visiting IGN because of it.

I really don't understand how ign givegive uncharted 3 a 10, but gave uncharted 4 a 9, which is a way better game overall. then uses "bloated chapter 3" as a main negative point? jezz

It's not the same reviewer, Greg was the one that gave U3 a 10 (and he was wrong imo but nvm), don't know what he thinks about 4 but if it's lower than 3 in his eyes than you might have a point.

So with the IGN 9, it dropped a few spots but holding steady at 94. We still have the Shacknews 9 that needs to be added and Edge. I think it's safe to say UC4 will be a 94 on Metacritic,

Is it just me or does Greg Miller seem like a big Playstation fanboy at times? :P

Heh, it honestly depends on what your definition of fanboy is.

If you mean big fan? Then yes, and he doesn't hide that, nor is there anything wrong with that of course. As for blind fanboyism? Then definitely not -- not sure if you consume Kinda Funny's content (or watched him back in the IGN days), but he and Colin have criticised PlayStation plenty of times, and call them out on their BS.

Metacritic user score being vandalized by trolls?

Yesterday i looked at it and it had a lot of red scores, average 6.2.

I don't think these would be legit... just wow at people doing this.

Hmm, nope, don't follow Kinda Funny and never watched his IGN videos, but I know he can be overenthusiastic about Playstation sometimes. That's all right, though, I'm a big Playstation fan myself. :P

He is a big playstation fan
(boy)
yea :P
But he also gave MGS5 a 10 and I don't agree with it, I think that when he loves a game, he is really passionate about it that it's hard for him to see the negatives or weight them too much, regardless of platform.

Yes, lots of trollish 0/10 scores on MC and 1 stars on Amazon, nothing you can do about it, that's why user scores are garbage.

To be fair, I know many on GAF think MGSV is a "bad" game, but it is personally my GOTY 2015, just like Greg Miller's. But yeah, he does seem to get a bit obsessed of games he loves.

This pic seems to imply that they don't.

Agreed. It was meant to be a joke. Read through this thread and you'll find that the score is the center of discussion, so they DO matter in gaf. I personally take scores as guides and thats it. A 32 in MC probably means that the game is mediocre. A 80 or a 90 might be good or not depending on your personal taste.

Thank god the 8.8 was bumped up. Now we can all sleep at night.

Our work here is done, my friends. It was a long and arduous road; but we made it.

...32? Mediocre? Probably mediocre? :p

I don't think it's bad, just disappointing but even if you like it, it seems like Greg is easy on the 10 trigger for every game that he really loves, you can love it but still acknowledge some factual faults like unfinished game, that's worth at least a couple of points off don't you think?

You can't wrap it up until we get that EDGE review, I still can't sleep.

Yeah, I agree with the last bit, as much as I love the game, the pacing was awful even though I was satisfied with the overall story. Also, like you said, it feels unfinished, but I secretly have hope for a hidden Chapter 3. :P

Personally, it's a 9.6/10 game for me, along with Bloodborne and The Witcher 3.

1.5-2 weeks from now. He's heading to Italy for 7 days soon based on his twitter. I think he will give it a 9, though I can see him giving another 10. He was asking if he can do it in one go, and I hope not. He should take his time and enjoy the game. Savor it, I certainly will.
he was blown away by tlou. he asked if he could do it in one go?

Yeah some of my favorites are:

"YEAH RIGHT YOU PC AND XBOX ONE FANBOYS the game just release for less than 24h and some of you speak about the ending impossible you already finish the game thats for sure theres lot of troll here... and another one say the graphics are ugly like ps3 game yeah right go back crying with youre useless xbox one who got miserable exclusivity. 10/10"

"Its so sad that there are so many upset people out there - namely xbox fanboys, who feel the need to give this 1 out of 10 just because they're butts are so sore at the success of a ps4 exclusive and that there is nothing to play on xbox one. Sad cringeworthy people."

Keep in mind that review is "more helpful" than a legitimate 7/10 review written by someone who gave another Sony exclusive a 10/10 (so no herp derp xbot lol) excuse.

Fanboying goes both ways.

Sure, but those aren't nearly as funny.

Can we all agree that having a pre-release score only to inevitably bump it to a 9.0 is the biggest bunch of horseshit click bait you have ever witnessed?

I would have more respect for them if they kept it at 8.8.

Just an entirely pointless circle of drama for clicks. Fuck IGN.

Any way to petition MetaCritic to lower their weight of the IGN score given their shit new policy?

Seriously, this score-in-progress is something some third-rate game blog would do to get clicks.

It's mainly for clicks and it worked.

From a business point of view the CEO knows what the fuck he is doing, everybody pressed on that review at least twice, to see the first score and the final one, milking the review out of every big game by finding a way of giving it 2 scores is brilliant you have to admit.

You're probably right and this makes me care about reviews even less than I already do. If this is about getting more clicks than why not go really outrageous and have the score fluctuate every day the review is in progress. "Oh wow...its at a 5.5" "Holy crap, now it's a 9!"

Lol you are ahead of the curve, this is their next natural step :)

I just published my (german) review of the game: https://www.hookedmagazin.de/2016/05/uncharted-4-review-der-polierte-klotz/

No score, but in short: I really liked it but also think it's held back by the fact that it's an Uncharted game. The great new ideas (exploration, driving, approach to scenes with Nathan and Elena) that are in there are held back by a story without consequences, unnecessary shootouts and all the usual Uncharted-stuff that already got a little tiring by the third game.

i think the uncharted-ness for want of a better word, is the reason those pulpy scenes work so well. the fact it's a world full of quips and humour and high intensity action makes those moments even better. if this was something else (and i'm not sure what you had in mind?) i don't think it would have worked.

It's a good business move for them, brings in more money.

The worst part is how incredibly transparent the whole thing comes across as.

Own your score and stick with the 8.8. Now the reviewer suffered a bunch of insults and likely harassment and over what, clicks?

No respect for IGN at all.

I'm a bit confused, what exactly was the added 0.2 for? Are they saying the multiplayer component is only worth 0.2 extra, or was the previous score on the priviso the multiplayer was broken? Or perhaps she replayed some of it and enjoyed it more this time or something.

If the reason was actually for clicks, that would be disappointing as hell. It would be nice if they could clarify the new policy.

First score was for campaign only, the 2 extra points is for enjoyable multi it seems.

I just watched and read the IGN review and the ROTTR Review from the same reviewer.
The Uncharted review (especially the video) just screams negativity, while Raider gets praised like hell.
The arguments for Uncharted are not valid at all for me. I really do think that Lucy O'Brian is very biased and the allegations towards her feminist thinking might not be too far off to be honest.

In short, review in progress IGN scores are joke.

I don't think they caved in or anything, that was just the final score as they have that review in progress process.

Damn, multiplayer only worth 0.2? That seems, not very much lol. Weird system they have, but whatever. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter.

Sure, thats the reasoning but that's not really how it works out in practice.

Especially not with the way IGN gave scores. This was all clicks.
