[IGN First] Final Fantasy XV combat gameplay

Yup, still looks pretty and runs poorly.

I wish they'd do a high level breakdown of a battle, to kind of prove that there's some actual strategy involved in these battles.

Gameplay is new, but it's not a new area for those who played the Duscae demo.

While footage is new, I don't think I saw any new mechanics or new weapon/abilities/parry/companion attack being used. Still the same old shuriken, fire, ice, warp, the heavy sword, air combo. Also armiger is not used. No summon being used. No some sort of monster climbing/monster body breaking part/interactive mechanics. If this is how a high level gameplay normally plays out, I'm underwhelmed.

Aw man i thought that Samurai will be an awesome boss fight, turns out it's just an enemy.

Effects are very cool, especially the explosion at the end. Looking forward to seeing a meaty gameplay demo with story, full battle system etc at e3. They way the have demoed the game so far has been slightly strange. That is even after playing the two released demos...

It's not, really, unless its different from the demo.

Hold circle.
Not really 😑. There are ways to make combat WAY more satisfying than holding circle. Playing through the demo several times, I taught myself all the little tricks that the demo didn't teach me. Ended up making it look like some of those cgi vids.

Good to see im not the only one who thinks the combat is garbage in this game.

Persona 5 looks so much better. Sometimes simple is just better.

'High Level' Combat ?

Really hope this was an assumption on IGN part, because the gameplay I've seen here revolves around very basic mechanics previously seen. I mean, where are the crazy abilities you could pull off with Armiger or maybe showcase some in-depth party AI customization or some never before seen powerful weapon abilities?

I hope they tutorialize that a little better because neither demo did a great job of communicating the depth of the battle system IMO.

Well, High Level is... a strange title for this video. But in my childhood, when I was high level, all I was doing was Attack, because I was overpowered.

And the comparison with Persona 5 is very tiresome. :(

Kinda unfair to compare the two when they're shooting for two completely different things.
This video was still pretty weak tho.

Everything is looking much better except for that camera, they really need to work that out somehow.

It's pretty cool to see only part of the monster freeze from the magic.

I mean Noctis is basically moving like a ninja in those videos, so I think 'high level' applies to this video

But yeah, wished they would show something more.. but I guess that's for E3

Horrible video. The way it was cut was awful. Also lol at high level. I'm just going to assume that's a click bait title because that's weak if it is high level.

the shadow samurai look like out of a Souls game. the environment is so uggo, creatures look next gen, but fighting them in a bland for even ps3 backgrounds meh. also combat was shit in the demo, so im not holding out hope that the fight system is much fun either

Never played a FF game - always been put off by the combat but I'm looking at this closely.

It's funny, as I'm getting older, I'm looking at playing game types I would never have done years ago - played Bloodborne after never playing, in crude terms I know, a hack and slash kind of game. Felt the same about God Of War too.

Bring it on!

One of the rare moments I wished I went to E3 to try out the combat, few people know how to take advantage of the combat. But I blame SE on that end.. Hopefully they do a great tutorial but I guess we will see the YouTube vids discrepancy in gameplay.
