[IGN First] Final Fantasy XV combat gameplay

This shit was awesome. I'm so hype for this. I might dive back into the demo because I never got to play with the shuriken.

What an odd video.

Oddly cut, and uh... "high level"? Didn't seem much different from the demo.

Just give me a few minutes of a dude fighting one or two enemies.

This game looks super rough. I guess they're doing all they can to drive up performance on consoles. Vegetation LOD is just super aggressive, and it's already looking sparse near you.

Sadly they showed the game looking like this at one point.

I wonder if they got a Neo version on pipeline already ready to be shown at E3 or something.

This seems to be the same Duscae-like combat test environment that gameinformer played in. So these enemies won't actually be just running around in Duscae.

Someone needs to give the editor of this video a good talking. Those transitions are so bad.

As for the gameplay, it's more okay level than anything imo.

In my heart I wish the Neo will come out in time to play FFXV on it (and for Square to patch the game to take advantage of the higher specs). Probably unlikely :(

Chose "allow all" for NoScript twice and the video still wouldn't play. Fuck IGN's player. Will wait for them to post to YT.

Looks amazing. This system will be so much fun as you get more proficient. Overall it is a huge improvement over older systems.

Not really 😑. There are ways to make combat WAY more satisfying than holding circle. Playing through the demo several times, I taught myself all the little tricks that the demo didn't teach me. Ended up making it look like some of those cgi vids.

It's like fun is subjective or something.

Kinda hoping they update Duscae again with this stuff lol.

Don't blame the game because you don't use its gameplay features.

I though the same thing when I first played the demo, then I started experimenting with the combat and it is actually pretty nuanced.

It's fun when you decide holding circle is boring and step up. And as an added bonus, you can kill the enemies way faster if you try to

lol.

I eagerly await your playthrough video where you complete the game by "Holding circle".

Alright, apparently I missed something, I will give the demo another go because it seems I'm being unfair, that wasn't my intent. I don't recall it communicating any other gameplay mechanics so I honestly didn't know there was more to it than that and throwing the magic items.

Looks awesome, just a shame i'll have to play it on Xbox One, it'd be awesome on PC, i hope they'll improve performance for the final release cause the latest demo didn't run that well at all

Kinda unfair to compare the two when they're shooting for two completely different things.
This video was still pretty weak tho.
Well i did that because even if its the japanese release they will come out around the same time. Also there was a time FF was a also turn based.

The combat looks fine to me but I wish the environments weren't so incredibly dull and lacking detail. No idea how people could watch this video and come away impressed with the game's visuals.

Neo patch to fix the IQ with stable 1080p and 30fps from Uncovered footage and I'll be satisfied. Hopefully the rumor of late September games requiring Neo patch is true.

High level? I could do all that in the Platinum demo minus the cold magic, where is the armigar? The party commands/party attacks? Weapon abilities? Summons? They did like no weapon switching mid combo either? Where are the other weapon types like katana or guns? How is any of this "high level"?

What's up with Gaf?

I was expecting gifs by now.....

Stuck at work for now, I hope they really change the pacing from the combat, you just hold one button to attack and when you are low on health hold the dogde button to escape and recover your health.

At least on Duscae it worked for me without any trouble. I wish they change to something closer to Kingdom Hearts by the end of the development. Don't hold, use the attack button, create a gap that your char becames an easy target to stop the attack animation so the player use their attacks with carefull.

I wouldn't consider it a rumor. It's in the development kit documentation after all.
Yeah, this doesn't look high level. Uh, thanks IGN?
But dude didn't you see him throwing all those shuriken while staying in the air. High level! High level I tell you!

Highly edited bullshot footage, no HUD or damage numbers, basically just a showcase for animations on PS4? XB1? Their testing PC environment? Who knows!

We're 4 months out folks. This video doesn't give me confidence in the final product.

Hope SE brings it to SDCC this year... i never can make it to E3, but i go to SDCC every year... SE's game booth is always amazing (except last year... i dont even remember the games they were demoing... I think DQHeroes and something else...)

Love to try this out, i didnt get Duscae... so... T_T

I agree, that's very unfortunate :(

game looks super rough, environment, LOD and vegetation are pretty bad but the characters animation and the art save it for now, not impressed at all...
