2016 PC Screenshot Thread of No Compromises

Another comparison between my Reshade on and off, I'm really like having the sunlight be brighter and harsher, not sure what's causing the sky to change too since I just took what I already had in the main game a long time ago, but it's a nice bonus too. I will try to stop posting too much Witcher as I'm not doing anything interesting with the camera and just have Geralt in the same spot every time.

Speaking of which, have a couple of HUD-ed shots. Mostly because I couldn't find a way to get rid of it.

See, this is what I mean about HUD in sci-fi games. Any kind of game which has a head up display that is a part of what the character would actually see should definitely be more acceptable in this thread. In fact, I wish there were more games which approached HUD this way. It makes sense for a lot of sci-fi games because things like augmented reality are actually becoming a real thing today. In games, this kind of HUD creates no issues with immersion or suspending your disbelief - it is real and a part of the world in which the characters exist!

Now for something like the Witcher 3, where the characters you play do not really have a need for HUD and it solely exists for the players themselves, it would make sense to turn it off, especially if you want to capture some of those awesome vistas or character shots.

Either way, you definitely see a lot more opportunities for justifying HUD in sci-fi games over games of a fantasy setting.

But this begs the question: why are there not many attempts to find mechanisms to bring HUD into fantasy worlds where the characters are aware of the interface itself? So instead of augmented displays, it would be something like magic, or maybe even something more meta (think Mario 64, and that guy in the cloud who carries the camera around to film you).

Now that's more like it! I agree, this looks way better than what drab Bethesda cooked up. Great shot. The amount of FPS in the corner, is that on any significant hardware? I'm on a lousy 780 so looking at that number makes me fear I have to wait with FO4 till I've upgraded.

oh, they updated it for 1.21? didnt knew about that. thanks for replying, will install it right now.

Yep! Though... you might need this as well. By default, AMM on the new patch will make all your armors bright red. It definitely doesn't play nice with the dye system. If you plan to dye your armors, maybe don't use AMM.

Really wish that mountain looked better considering how big a part it plays in the skybox for the area but whatever.

Now I'm going to have to make sure those mountains are always obscured in DoF because... ugh. Why, CDPR? Whyyyyy???

Yeah as we've all come to know, The Witcher 3 looks best in more contained areas. Level of detail always sticks out in the game and Toussaint is probably the area where the poor LOD stuff is most obvious (even with .ini tweaks). Besides the mountain, the zone is also very hilly and open and bright and thus it makes spotting LOD issues really easy. Velen looks so great because it's mostly flat and full of trees. Oh well. Despite some visual oddities in the zone (LOD and their crazy yellow color balance) it looks great.

Thankfully the sun sets behind the mountain, more or less, so it gets nicely obscured for the late hours of the day. Still a bit weird that it made it into the game looking so... low res and low poly I guess.

The FPS counter is part of Boris 's ENB version for fallout .

and Fallout 4 should be perfectly playable on a 780.

The reason for the FPS number is : One very performance heavy mod ( but very awesome ) + 4K resolution + ENB with all bells and whistles on .

all of those combined bring even my 980 ti to its knees .

also for some reason the mod author added jungle sounds to it so don't be surprised if you hear an elephant :p

i imagine he will eventually offer options for those .

I'll take the HUD off if someone does it for me. Can't be arsed to figure out how in this one. I don't even know how to force AA in it yet.

As of now there's no way to disable CA without turning off post effects and a lot of the pretty. Its going to be a game that supports Ansel when it launches so maybe then. Also perhaps the developers may prove response...
