Next Destiny Expansion Reveal Today, $30, PS4/XB1 only, Sep. 20th

So I just now joined the stream and went back a few pages- but does this look like it has the same amount of content as Taken King or more/less?

While we know it has one only one strike (and some others updated), we don't know about the rest. How big is the new zone? How many story missions and quests, how many Crucible maps/modes, etc, so we can't really compare it. But pricing it at $30 vs. TTK at $40 is probably messaging that it's not on the same scale.

Wouldn't be surprised if this DLC *is* the teaser for it.

Well, technically it is. :p

I missed some of the stream - was there any mention of improved in-game social tools? Like an in-game LFG or something along those lines? Really hope that they bring some of that stuff in game to make forming parties or clans easier.

Nope not yet. Was more of a introduction tho. September is still a while away.

When does Destiny go back online. I haven't played since TTK. Did all the missions except the raid. I want to go back and see what's good.

That was underwhelming. More re-skinned enemies. The whole premise sounds very interesting, but I'm ready for a real jump in quality with Destiny 2. This seems like filler to buy some time.

Now that they dropped last gen, hopefully something along those lines. But no, nothing was mentioned like that.

Using communities on PSN has been working out well for a lot of people as a system-level function, though.

So no Physical release?

Was kind of hoping for a new release with Taken King so I could play all the content.

I would bet money they will sell a $60 "everything Destiny" release at retail. But it will be a vanilla Destiny disk plus a digital code for the rest. And they won't announce it until September probably.

Its kind of funny that youll still have the people who "earned" (lol) theirs looking down on the ones running around with the free knockoff.

I wish Destiny gave something for completing end game when it was hard.

Even if it's just cosmetic.

The first trials are the only thing that rewarded an 9-0 emblem AFAIK, and that was before they fixed/banned for the disconnection BS so plenty of people who didn't earn it in sweats.

There should be something to show for your last end game conquests.

I'm guessing Devils Lair and Fallen Saber will get 'ceva?siva?-fied'... along with the new strike and possibly PS exclusive.

Man, now more than ever I want to jump into Destiny. I want the Destiny LE but I also want a PS4k ;___;

Also since I've never played the game is there any information on what plague consumed the hivemind or is that new stuff for the expansion?

Was there anything said about what dropping X360 and PS3 will do for the game?

They said it will be addressed in more detail later, but hinted at better upgrade paths for those on last gen. It will probably just be branched off from the next gen versions.

Looks good, hopefully the Ghorn is not nerfed to shit.
Been pretty wack not having a good fall back/nuke everything from orbit rocket launcher in TTK.

Can I ask a question of big Destiny fans (or not so big Destiny fans as well I guess). From what I gather all of the DLC so far has individually amounted to maybe 25% more content each (or less). Plucking that number out of thin air but I know these DLC's are not doubling the main game content or anything that extreme. Considering these DLC all cost a good half to three quarters of a new full game RRP do you feel like you're getting value at all from this?

I just don't see it myself, and very annoyed I bought the base game digitally. Never knew it would demand I keep paying serious chunks of money to stay involved and current with the game, the base game feeling pretty barren and repetitive to begin with.

There have been TWO other flawless emblems. One from TTK, one from April Update.
Also since the April update, you can also receive Pariah Armour from The Lighthouse.

Yup, that's right. Got that as well.

Hard Raid @ End Game acknowledgment is more what I was thinking. Once a year is too infrequent.

I'd also love cosmetic loadout slots for our old gear if we want to wear it over our active armor, but I bet they'll never do that.

I cant wait to hear more about it. So far so good. This is only for next gen, which is very good!

Bungie needs to let us know a few more things, hopefully they discuss and show more at E3

I was really hoping that they would end the stream with something like, "We know that September is a long ways off, so here's SRL to keep you busy this summer!" . I don't know what to do in Destiny until then. The maintenance got me hopeful that they're doing something.

The Taken King was quite large, and also included the 2.0 update, which was a large overhaul to areas around the game. Plus, the April update pushed the content of TTK over 50%.

From the get-go there were two expansion packs that cost extra money on top of the base game. To say that you never knew you'd have to pay more, ever, is absurd.

I find it to be overpriced personally. TTK was never worth £40 imo.

The value proposition offered by the first three DLC's varied, but I thought TTK at $40 was a better value than the shipping game was at $60. It wasn't just the volume of content, but also the quality. The new strikes were far and away better and more replayable than the old strikes; the new story missions were a huge improvement of the prior, etch. And it was a much larger expansion than 25% of the base game, despite just one new destination: there were ~18 total missions, 8 PvP maps, three new subclasses added to the six Destiny shipped with (+50%). The 2.0 overhaul to the base game was a huge as well.

But ultimately, the answer is people who like the game get that much value from the new stuff added. I've put hundreds of hours into the expansions since they came out, so $30 for this seems like good value for the money to me. Especially since the quality bar has, generally, been going up as Destiny has progressed.

CE and HoW were pretty light on content, TK was pretty massive (almost doubling vanilla regarding things to do). It's pretty clear that Bungie doesnt have that DLC/Expansion balance right; and because of shifting businessmodels I doubt if they work it out anytime soon.

That said; Destiny is easily my most played game together with the Witcher 3, which also offers a lot of things to do. I do have to say that if you're approaching it as a single player only game you might end up bored more quickly.
