Excuse me while I go throw up.

Horrific. I have to check out of this thread. I just can't stomach any more of this. My thoughts are with the community, the deceased and their loved ones.

Sad to say, I'm starting to "hate" too.

Hate Christians, hate Muslims, hate homophobes, hate racists, hate anyone whose belief in dumb fairy tales, stupid ideologies and imaginary beings causes them to be a threat to other human beings. And I do mean hate. I can no longer imagine empathy for their dead bodies whether man woman or child. That is hate.

I'm tired of their dangerous delusions and I'm ashamed to have been raised in a "book" religion myself before coming to my senses. All of the architects of the homophobic order are responsible for this, not just the foot soldiers. Fuck guns. It's the people and the society. Nobody praises the pen for Shakespeare's Macbeth or the chisel for Michelangelo's David. Blaming the gun is a copout.

I'm not trying to troll, and I suppose I will calm down a little but I'm more angry than sad to have awoken to this. My mind's eye is conjuring up cheerful images of a razed church or mosque. I tell it not to be silly, but it is a seductive image. How many are as mad as I am but will not be able to restrain themselves? Rights have always been ransomed with blood.

R.I.P

+1 that was brave to speak your mind, hope you don't get banned. I do agree with most of these things, however we aren't the majority though :/

You aren't alone, I feel exactly the same.

What is WRONG with you all? Holy crap, I never thought I'd see posts like these on GAF. Wow.

This religion inspired anti-LBGT man got guns legally and killed 50 people. How about we do something about ALL of these issues that lead to this in respect of the 50 dead people. Lets not hide any of these points, lets not get defensive about these points or sweep them under the rug. Lets discuss this shit as a country and come up with some answers. Can we at least do that for them?

You're in luck! Some Muslims are trying to do outreach with the LGBT community; give it time.

I mean, obviously we ought to wait for the facts. But c'mon. Two people decide to carry out major attacks on gay events within 24 hours and it's unrelated lone gunmen?

They had the full backing of the United States government considering how easy it is to get guns in this country.

There are no lone wolves, at this point the government is encouraging this behavior with it's incompetent laws and the preference to do nothing about it.

Nah, they're religious. It's just that religion occupies a special spot in their brain, the crazy area, that it doesn't in everyone else.

Well, except for the fact that most of the ones we've captured in the middle east can't quote any Koran lines and are basically using ISIS as justification to cause mayhem and strike back at perceived slights.

Only eighteen of the fifty states require a background check, think about that when you start posting about guns in America. In many of our states you can purchase a gun whether that gun be a shotgun, hunting rifle, handgun, 'sporting rifle'/AR-15, etc. without a single check to see if I have committed a crime. Some states do not even require a waiting period at all. You mad bro about something? Have some money, here you go have a gun. Have a great day!

na, you are thinking of private sales. pretty sure every business will call the FBI to run a quick check before selling you a gun.

Sad thing is it's super uncomplicated. More guns equal more deaths. Having a gun does not make you safer. There's no logical argument for lax gun laws, or even for allowing recreational possession. The second amendment is no defence- it's a law, it can be changed.

Full prohibition will never happen in the US- guns are too ingrained in the culture. It will be grimly fascinating to watch how this latest atrocity fails to make a dent.

Some interesting statistics on results of gun control. An extract:

And another, from the Vox link above:

Yes the US history is tightly linked to gun culture so the issue now is that even with tough and smart laws, it'll take decades to get results, even for the small shootings or for how policemen use guns in action. Anyway it's politically blocked by lobbies who keep people ignorant about the facts and a true analysis of the guns situation.

then I have every justification to post harshly, because you're part of the reason these murders happen so frequently and in such great numbers. I'm not going to sugarcoat it; by advocating against gun control measures you have blood on your hands. Politicians see that their constituency is against gun control, and block gun control legislation accordingly.

At minimum it would take decades to wipe out a radical ideology. We can have reasonable gun control measures implemented within a couple years. If you really cared about the families of the slain, you would try to do something productive about it, not just hoping or praying. Well here's something very simple, but very important that you can do: change your stance on gun control. Widespread change in the U.S. starts at the individual level, so wise up already.

I believe in background checks, and tighter control. But not out right banning of guns, and the blood is not on my hands. That is a bit extreme.

I am not gonna talk about it further with you. As we will go in circles all day I am sure.

You have linked an anti-islamic propaganda youtube channel, just in case you weren't aware. Unless you have further evidence that links this imam to the shooter, this isn't relevant information.

So you are not arguing the content but the YouTube channel ?

And how do you link preaching an ideology to one actually executing it?

It's absolutely relevant .

i see. ya, could be. I'm just babbling I think.
I don't blame you. I'm not religious, but I can see it being difficult when religion can be seen as being under attack.

Well, except for the fact that most of the ones we've captured in the middle east can't quote any Koran lines and are basically using ISIS as justification to cause mayhem and strike back at perceived slights.

Some of them, ya, but that could also be attributed to laziness with regards to studying. It's easy to say you're religious, but it's hard to actually memorize scriptures.

Guess which point is the easiest to address and solve? Banning a religion, banning a viewpoint, or implementing stricter gun control measures?

So the daesh link is almost confirmed?
Jesus Christ. Can't these fuckers just get a life instead of trying to justify their existence by robbing innocents of theirs?
