Honestly, I can't see why they would want to.

Not at first. Why alienate Xbox one core userbase

It will be like destiny. All platforms will be supported until the Scorpio base expands enough to leave the old Xbone behind
I think people are seriously underestimating the desire devs have for a more powerful platform. And from what I can see from today this IS the next gen Xbox and MS will probably be completely moved on from Xbox One by 2018.

At first, I was like damn, that's cool, then I realized that I already have a gaming rig. With MS new policy that all of their games are coming to PC as well, there 's is absolutely zero reason for me to buy one (free multiplayer to boot). I am actually a bit bummed about that as I love consoles. I think it's a huge mistake to abandon console exclusives. But I could be wrong, only time will tell if it will work out for MS.

Well this is interesting. For me it's a bit like:

I want to buy an Xbox
I could buy the slim, but that's going to be superceded in a year by Scorpio so that seems like a bad idea
I could wait a year for Scorpio, but then why wouldn't I just buy a PC now and have everything available to me anyway...

Basically this, but applied to Scorpio as well:

Were doing a big 6 dev videocast for the channel and the devs saw my questions on google docs.

The response to this question
"Uhg. no.
Nope
Why?
HERE WE GO!

LOL Probably going to be a somewhat typical burnout phase for older tech and maybe a couple MS upgrade programs once they see the bite.

The wording of this is confusing. What are devs saying?

Honestly, I can't see why they would want to.

It will be a smaller market, but Scorpio owners are going to be more likely to buy Scorpio exclusive titles if they look/play better. Plus developers always would prefer building for better hardware.

Is that really strong enough to play games like BF1 at 4K?
I kinda doubt it.

Probably not but keep in mind in the new Phil video he said the developers are free to use the power as they see fit, so 4k or lower resolution with higher frames etc.

I'm interested to see what the long term sales trends will look like Ina few years once this iterative hardware trend is in full swing. Are people going to upgrade every 3-4 years? I know they do it for phones but those are subsidized. Tablets might be a better comparison but haven't they leveled off some?

Or maybe even wait for a year to buy a PC and get a 1170/1180 thats probably far more better than Scorpio.
This never stops. You need to make a decision at some point, which is hard =P

Why? LOL I'm an xbox one owner and I give 2 shits. It will be 4 years by 2017. Is this fake concern?

I don't have an XB1, just thinking it would suck to only get 4 years out of a console.

No concern trolling. I already gave my thoughts on the BS of this new upgraded console future from both Sony and MS.

Ya thats interesting to me as well.

I'm getting the S this year for the UHD player mostly and the great price. Next year or the year after I'll pick up the Scorpio. I have no interest in buying a gaming pc but fallout 4 in vr is a must have for me.

SO yeah, guess it just depends on your needs (wants).

I can definitely understand the desire for a more powerful platform. However, I think that really translates to a more powerful lowest common denominator. If that more powerful platform is only say 15-20% or less of the active buying audience, then what's the point? This is why we don't simply see shitloads of PC exclusives pushing a 980 Ti rig to the limits. There's just not enough people to sell to in that case to make it worth doing. If Sony were also to allow Neo games to not play on the PS4, then combined the two newer consoles, plus PC may well be enough to make the proposition attractive... but otherwise, I just can't see it.

Maybe in a couple of years when the PC specs have completely run away from the consoles again like they did during the later stages of gen 7, then I can imagine the equivalent of say a Witcher 2 hitting (maybe something like Star Citizen?), and the creators looking at the XB1 and PS4, and thinking "nah, fuck that".. but the Scorpio would be deemed worth porting to. But today (and the near future)? Doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.

One of these options does not have any obvious downsides

praying that this thing of playstation neo and scorpio fails, i bought a console so i dont have to upgrade it and i could play new games for 6 years, i'm not rich to spend for a upgrade every 2 years

Kinda wish they just called it a literal new gen with full BC on games and accessories. Maybe they will later closer to the full reveal.

I don't think so at all. All of my XB1 games will still work on the Scorpio. Scorpio only games won't just happen all at once people.

Indeed, lol. How did they make a mess? By showing a bunch of great games that I can enjoy on my Xbox One for the next year and a half? And then if I decide to upgrade, I can take my games with me. I don't see how I am getting fucked there, as they are launching just about the right time for me to start wanting to move on up a few months later on into 2018. I will not be losing a thing. The time frame checks out for me.

Are there significant amounts of contents announced for 2016? It seems to me, that in time when 4k content is there the scorpio has launched.

Many publishers are already putting all their big releases on the new format including Warner Brothers. Worth it for me. Check Best Buy's selection:

But yeah, I currently have a 4k smart tv, and while there isn't tons and tons of content, there is still a good amount between netflix/amazon/VUDU

The cross platform/crossbuy strategy is intriguing, and the makes the digital future abit more palatable.

Microsoft is light years ahead of the DRM fantasy from a few years ago.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

The fix to your problem: Don't buy the upgrade/new consoles. Seriously, you don't have to. If you don't like the business model, stop supporting the console business. Vote with your wallet, bud.

So this plays UHD Blu-rays with HDR support right? Just clarifying I put one down for pre-order. But that by itself makes it a value buy currently for UHD/HDR entertainment people if so.

If MS plans to use a blower fan as shown in the sneak peak video, then Scorpio is going to be as loud as the current PS4 design.

I don't like that.

Goodbye whisper quiet performance.

The Scorpio absolutely will. I think you're thinking of the Slim which releases in August which supports UHD Blu-ray.

Funny thing. That is my reaction at the whole MS concerence

At the start of the conference -> Cool. $299. Maybe it's time to jump to Xbox
Mid of the conference -> All of the games would be out on PC. Hmmm...
End of the conference -> New Xbox in a year? Fuck it. I'll build a PC instead.

Yea I mixed them up, So there's no official price announcement for the Scorpio yet? I for some reason though they skipped the slim entirely and the S was the Scorpio. I haven't got a chance to watch the E3 presentation yet, so I'm going purely off what my friends have texted me.

NX + Scorpio 2017...

well thats a short gen cycle :/

Can someone compare this to what the systems currently have?
What do the specs mean.

Dumb it down even and say its like 5 x more powerful etc..
