I made Urien more palatable for western audiences. Waiting for my job offer, Capcom.
Or maybe juris outfit.... I dunno looks better with less skin. Unless the Japanese version is like that, if not. Maybe its just looks better

Nether realm can only dream to make a model of this calibre. Her face alone destroys every female face they have created for a game.

NRS gets a lot of shit for how their female character faces look, but I can say that I've met more women that have faces like that than I have with any SF characters. Unless maybe I'm looking at models that are very far from the average person at least.

Yeah, you were always going to be disappointed then. A new costume was a given, and thankfully what we got looks amazing.

It looks dumb to be honest. What exactly am I looking at and who would wear something like that? in 4's design she look like martial artist from South Korea. But here, it's like I'm looking at an Eva pilot.

This one looks even more tacky than the first edit.

Wouldn't having your thighs exposed be a terrible idea for a *biker* suit?

Capcom hasn't cared about proper biking attire since they dumped Elza Walker for Claire in RE2.

Man, all I care about right now is that Rival Schools has somethign worth talking about 0_0

I wanna play some Project Justice now

It's cool that they finally merged the series in with SF. Before that it was just Udon comics & the first RS (which supposedly isn't canon because Saks has a different blood type ಠ_ಠ).

Capcom needs to have Bengus working on S2 character panels right now so he has more than enough time to make things right and make sure tiny hands Balrog never happens again.

I see two problems with Juri's design:

1. The design isn't good in general
2. The black "bodysuit" blatantly looks like they just decided to paste it on her skin without thought to design or taste.

Whether or not it was actually censorship doesn't change the fact that it looks sloppy and bad.

They should have zipped up her outfit. As it is, it just looks silly in a way that takes away from her character design. It's clearly a last minute change given how slapdash it looks.

All things considered, and as much as people don't like tropes, I feel like Juri's personality IS the sexy spider lady trope. I obviously don't think this should apply to every character, as they're all different. I think they have always done a poor job at linking Cammy's personality and her story with her design and animations. Whether people like or dislike the alteration to Juri's design, it doesn't feel as natural to her character as the previous, and the last minute change is completely obvious.

With Juri you have an unhinged psycho that follows the spider queen design to a T, with a wacky edge to it. In her original design from Cammy's cutscene, you had the exposed cleavage, which regardless of anyone's feelings on, draws the eye down and to a point. Her bangs support this visual line, and her....pigtails (i guess?) extend outward at the top of your vision and as your eyes are drawn down her silhouette envelops your vision link fangs ready to take your head off. Additionally, her fighting style is a reflection of the idea of her being a stalker that seeks to trap you. Her main feature is to hide fireballs in her kick buttons, and you can release them quicker than any other character, catching your opponent off guard. Many of her animations have a sexual edge to them as well (Such as her ultra). Everything about her design reflects the spider queen gimmick, and it's one of the few characters where I would argue that sexiness enhances the design and compliments her personality. Cammy though, is and always has been, a fucking mess.

Cammy's original design was very spunky and sexy. One of her victory animations was to take off her hat, strike a cool pose, and then wink at the camera and give a thumbs up while showing her ass. This, as well as her outfit, ends up being a complete gimmick in every way, rather than informing what Capcom has (tried) to do with her personality since. She has a very iconic design, but her personality and story are horribly mishandled that she ends up being only a B level character on a good day. You get to SF4 and her intro animation is a leering shot that she appears unaware of. Nothing about her sexiness is reflected in her personality one bit. (And seriously, how weird and out of character does it feel for her to go back and see her stick her tongue out like that in II:Turbo with the character as her personality is now?)

Her fighting style reflects her dress to an extent, it's appropriate in a way that jeans and a tanktop would make zero sense for her super flexible animations in her specials. The problem is that Cammy's nudity makes her seem oblivious and dumb, rather than connecting to her personality as it does with R.Mika (Who wants to hype up the crowd) or Laura (Who probably would have a VERY active sex and party life if this game's rating were higher) . Cammy is strong, determined, reserved, and has constant self-doubt, so why does such a conservative character have an outfit that says "confidence"? Why doesn't her personality reflect her design at all? Unlike with Juri, I think Cammy's design WOULD work with say....dark green leggings?

It work's on her Delta Force buddy, and would actually fit her personality.

tl;dr They "painted over nudity" on the wrong character. Cammy should have been ahead of Juri in line for that treatment in terms of personality matching design.

Of course they sexualize almost every woman in the cast but decide to cover up the one guy that's comparable to them.

And the women in SFV have good designs?

Yeah, pretty good designs overall. And no, they're not all sexualized designs. Look at Karin, Chun-Li, and Ibuki (their story and default outfits at least), they're not designed with sex appeal as a focus. As for 'sexy' designs, we have: R.Mika, Laura, and Cammy (only half of the female cast, less than half now that Juri has more covered up).

Urien is probably closer to what most women would find attractive.

This is actually a pretty good assessment. It came up in another thread but basically, in a general sense men's sexuality revolves around the body, while women's typically revolve around dress. In other words, men focus more about the act of sex, and women's fantasies focus more on....let's say foreplay.

In men's power fantasies you typically have big naked men with hot naked wifes. Muscles are the focus here. Big strong men and fit women and butts and boobs and so on and so forth, yadda-yadda. Conversely, Women's power fantasies involve attractive dress. Women that are dressed well in a way that command attention and sexy boyfriends that are well dressed and suit their tastes and sensibilities. Urien fits this pretty well. He went from being a Pillar-man to a Disco Playboy. The popped collar and unbuttoned shirt convey class and style and a design that is, in a general sense, aimed at being more attractive to women. He looks like a charmer now, someone who is good to his partners, though it remains to be seen how his actual personality reflects that...(Again, these are generalities, not restrictions on how any one individual should feel, and everyone is a different person who can like or dislike or be attracted to anything that they want)

I think Juri's new design is very good and suits her character perfectly. It's not distasteful and has a very sophisticated and sexy feel at the same time. Plus let's not forget she's a biker.

Yea it looks like they just decided to color it. It looks like a black tattoo , rather than clothing.

Full Store Finally Open - Access to all Premium Costume
Karin Premium Beach Costume

This is quite a big update nearly a relaunch. If only Capcom just waited until now to release this game. Hopefully if they deliver word of mouth improve the sales.

Very cool. So is this the update that redeems season pass holders? Hopefully they make more rage quit improvements as well, although by now i would think many of the offenders have stopped playing.

Quality will be the same if you still have like one person doing all of the work in a short amount of time.
Bengus is a good artist dealing with shitty circumstances.

I don't care about the circumstances. As a paying customer why would it matter? End result is all I care about, and that's some flash game level art

That fool Balrog better not be thinking of betraying Shadaloo...

Considering the story bridges the gap between sf4 and sf3, I think it's safe to say it's more or less going to be about the fall of Shadaloo.

Hell, even the name of the story is "A Shadow Falls." (See what they're doing there?)

He was asking for a new artist which wouldn't change anything if the circumstances are the same. Its not an artist problem. Its a time/quantity problem. Not sure what you're going about and how it relates to what I'm talking about.

Then you think this one should show more skin? I honestly don't get your point.
I think this one is fine with the latext, i think her sf4 one is better with the skin. This better as it is.

The only issue I have is the end of her feet being out. But hey, there is an audience for that sort of thing I guess

So we agree, basically. I probably misunderstood your first post, then, sorry.

The Juri redesign is the best thing about SFV to date. They took a mess of a character and made her look awesome.

Sometimes im not that good with wording, it was probably my bad

I hope if viper comes back they give her a costume like her old outfit and not the spy suit she has on in story, because...well juri us also wearing that.

i thought they were talking about the shadow of censorship that fell on juri's chest

So guys Balrog is going to be an actual playable character in a few days. Pretty sweet right? Anyone? I suck at charge characters but I will try some more again.

The lack of classic costumes for the characters that got redesigned is starting to annoy the hell out of me. Only Ken really has one.

I'd argue bengus isn't a good artist for starters
