Got a feeling that the price as well as how good the online is implemented will be the deciding factors in some reviews.

Is nobody pissed that they are still pulling this day 1 patch BS? After such a long dev time with delays... we shouldn't stand for it.
Im just used to it by now. And if I'm going to freak out over one, I'm not going to freak out over one thats less than 1 gig.

Yeah they should wait a month before giving us this content. That way we can feel like we are getting the complete game for awhile.

Pissed that they show commitment to improving the game? Not me at least.

I for one can't believe y'all been buying early access titles all generation smh suckers

We should definitely set a rule that as soon as a game is set as 1.0, no changes, whatsoever, should be allowed to the game. No improvements, no additional content, nothing.

The reviewer's job isn't to protect Sean Murray's interests. They signed off on printing this version on disks. Implying that it's not ready to be reviewed only makes them look worse.

No, but this is regarding a day 1 patch. This review is not the
game that gamers will experience. See the patch notes thread.

This review only serves as clickbait. To be the first.

And this very thread serves to fuel all the nonsense. This isn't a review thread with one review in the OP. Lock this mess.

The vast majority of reviewers will cover the game post patch. Whats wrong with a few, like this one, covering the og version and stating that plainly?

That's fine, it's their excuse on why they're doing it that bothers me.

NMS isn't exclusive, FWIW.

Unrelated but I found this hilarious

It's funny, I just typed the same thing.

Last Guardian is already cult. The reviews for it are going to the virgin sacrifice.

Don't worry, plenty of other shortsighted folks have gotten themselves in a tizzy over nothing.

They're not shortsighted though, they're just concerned about the future. One of my major concerns is that when I have a family and am on my deathbed, I would really like to grasp my great grandchild's fragile hand and pass him / her my PS4 and first-print physical copy of No Man's Sky. But right now, with this patch bullshit, I'm worried that the strain of knowing I'm not giving them the definitive version of the No Man's Sky experience will simply be too much, and my frail body will just give out and turn to dust.

TLG will be a classic.

Surprisingly, UC4 didn't burn in flames but TLG will be a beast. I think GT Sport will be another one with all the Evolution, Forza, "lol, these guys take forever to produce this?" etc... nonsense that will go on.

I am going to legit, have my GF change my GAF password and not tell me until 2 weeks after TLG review thread is up, lol.

I'm just gonna make a prediction that it'll be pretty good and most fans will be happy. I don't think the thread will be any more messy than most review threads.

I'm on complete blackout for TLG so I wont know what shit does kick off or not, anyway.

Ditto.

Yeah honestly. Are all 12 of these pages about this?

They are actually about saying the game was 'early access' or 'not complete' and this new found thing of these 'exotic day one patches' could not make sense to some.

xxracerxx

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
You could say the same for Journey, but multiplayer is part of the experience even if it barely happens or you can choose to not utilize it.

The chances of running into another player while playing NMS is sooooooo small that it is almost nothing like Journey's chances.

Nah. I would prefer to play this game in August rather than September. And considering that they plan on continually working on the game, there would have been a day one patch two years from now.

I imagine a lot of SotC/ICO fans are on complete blackout for The Last Guardian as those are the kind of games best experienced with as little knowledge beforehand as possible. So the review thread could be pretty weird if it's lacking a lot of major fans, though I'm sure it'll be pretty busy still, as people want to see how the game actually turned out.

Your great grandchild takes the disc, looks at you and says: "But, great-grandpa, what do you do in this game?"

Even if this review went up on Monday midnight, or Tuesday during the day with the new patch, I still wouldn't give them the click. Sorry, but such a huge game deserves time.

If the update drastically changes the experience of the game, so much so that’s it’s unrecognisable from what’s originally on the disc, then there’s something fundamentally wrong with the way games are being made

Also, holy fuck, arrogant much. Considering the game doesn't actually release until Tuesday then that statement go fuck right off.

Obviously you haven't read through it, otherwise you would know the review is everything but clickbait.

My biggest complaint about sending out code on/day before release day is how hard you have to push yourself to play the game and do your write ups in as little amount of time as possible.

Juggling a 40 hour job and family life is going to be hard with NMS, but I'm going to do my best to have a piece up within a week of launch.
