You'll respawn either at your ship, an on-planet save point (they are physical devices), or at a space station, depending on the circumstances

Yeah it doesn't make sense to me, you can't say "no multiplayer" and "but you can meet up with people". Do we just not know?

They just say its not a MP game because they dont want people going into it with that mind set but the universe is shared and the possibility of meeting another player is there. The systems are in place. It creates the possibility of having a very special moment that will probably stick with you forever. Playing for like 100s of hours then allofasudden you see someone mining and you run over to them but they dont see you and take off in their ship. You be like NOOOO!..

Would be a very unique experience.

There is definitely a 'frost' kind of visor effect. I don't have the gif, but if you did some digging in the other thread, you should find it.
