No Man's Sky |OT| Hello Worlds.

I managed to name a planet "Assholeville".

Nothing but aggressive wildlife there. The moment I got out of my ship for the first time there, I was getting attacked by 2 different animals.

I found a new element. I haven't seen it on GAF, and there's nothing in a Google search.

Potential mild spoiler, so I'll just post links to the screenshots.

On the planet
In my inventory

I don't know if I should sacrifice the inventory space to see what I can potentially do with it, or just sell it and move on. It doesn't seem to have a purpose other than to make me smile.

They really did create their *very own* periodic table.

What gives Amazon. Normally when I have a release day order it is shipped by UPS and they never miss a month. Instead it is getting shipped by Lasership and coming Thursday.

hmmmm amazon still hasn't shipped my regular copy yet either..profound sadness
by the time I get my copy, will there be anything left to discover? ;)

There were over a million discoveries posted in the last hour... and it's increasing...

this is awesome

Ok ok learning bits of language a word at a time to interact with aliens and understand their language? Might be the coolest thing I have ever seen

My starting planet is super huge, left it then went right back, still exploring found 42 words already and met 5 aliens of the same race solved some simple puzzles and now they are all best friends with me and hook me up with goods xD. This game is the best time waster ever

It makes no sense though. It's needlessly restricting to have the inventory so small.
The whole point is that you're one lonesome creature on a distant planet with limited resources to travel across the galaxy, right? The fact that you can already haul around like 9 massive boulders worth of space rocks on your back is already pretty "gamey" as it is, isn't it?

I think the idea is more to make you really think about what you're carrying and what things you actually really need. You know, to think like an explorer.

That and inventory upgrades feel like real rewards when they're at a premium.

Pre-patch was definitely too restrictive (limit was 100 in suit and 200 in ship, compared to the current 250 in suit, 500 in ship), but I rather dig where the inventory limits are at now. Maybe increasing the amount you can stack in your ship's inventory would be helpful. I wouldn't mind seeing that go up to 750 or even 1000. Would be super helpful for things like Plutonium and Thamium9 that you really need at all times.

Is there a way to mark things or to see a planetary map? I found a crashed ship, but it was in a barren area so I had to go trade to get items to fix it, but now I can't get it to show up when scanning and as far as I can tell there is no maps or waypoints, so I just lost that free ship.

How does Minecraft make any money from all their updates. Game sales. Releasing on more platforms. Eventual mobile version when phones and tablets quickly become powerful enough to run it if they're not powerful enough already.

Sure, but Minecraft was a sensation. I think NMS will be more divisive, and doesn't have the 'creation tool' hook that brought so many people to the game. We already know NMS is PS4-only for consoles, so that leaves mobile and Mac as expansion platforms? I don't know, I just don't see the Minecraft route working for anything other than Minecraft.

Alright, so it seems like my SE edition from Amazon won't ship until Monday. They already sent me a pre-order code... is it too late to cancel it?

I can't stand what the fuck Amazon is doing here. My most wanted game since it's initial trailer and I can't play it on launch day, let alone launch week? I'm done with Amazon.

Mine wont be here until tomorrow and I am so angry, I can only imagine how you feel.

and yes Fuck amazon. To be fair this is the first release day issue I have had with them, but they have destroyed almost every CE I have ever ordered with their shit shipping.

Spoilers:

DO NOT sell your Atlas Stones.

I've reached the end of the Atlas path and it is asking for me to insert 10 Atlas Stones, or walk away. I had to walk away since I sold most of mine.

:/

I agree with you actually. it'd just be nice to have a place to store stuff, even if it was like a bank on a space station or something.

You can't rename after uploading, right? I half messed up if that is correct. I uploaded instead of rename and upload for my starting planet. I do like the name of it, though so not sure if I would've changed it. Did name my star system.

Starting planet was a poisonous giant mushroom world with alien spiders and bats.

Biggest creature I've come across, not too big but holy shit did it make me laugh. And there were probably a dozen other species all nearby.

What the hell is that!?

Undead Raptorflyosaurus?

Lol dude. Why. I mean.. they sound important even.

Really like it, but seems unstable. Random crash in first five minutes. Not doing anything particularly demanding - garhering resources. Launch PS4.

A trick to move around on land a lot faster.

Apologies if this was mentioned before or if it's common knowledge. But holy shit regardless is it super useful in getting around the ground fast. While sprinting, press R1 to melee and then -quickly- press and hold Jet boost (X). I made a quick clip to show it off.

posting for new page. Also, the top image is where I made the video linked above in. And the bottom image was my starter planet. Gorgeous. Fucking gorgeous.

Could anyone answer, in spoiler tags, what the "three path" choices are? Do they show up obviously near the start of the game?
