Are the Height and Weight measurements always swapped for discovered species? Heh, just noticed this in the Giant Bomb QL

So, Im sure this has been discussed a billion times, but for those of us that did the "use the DLC ship, which ruined the tutorial", is there a good way to recorrect the initial request or should I delete save and start over?

Which part are you stuck on? The DLC ship doesn't ruin anything, it just jumps you ahead in the timeline a bit. Mainly, it skips one big step.

If this game is not in my mailbox at home, I'm never ordering games from Amazon ever again.

Basically why I cancelled and went digital. =\

Stream of two players basically in the same spot. Unfortunately, they can't see each other. Someone suggested space stations are different instances to avoid users getting through an Atlas Pass door opened by another, which makes sense to me. They're about to fly to the same spot on the nearby planet or around the space station to see what happens.

At one point they were on the same station and could, apparently, see eachothers ships but not the player character itself. Bizarre.

Okay, so this is driving me nuts. What's with the constant "whooshing" sound that keeps following me around when I'm on land? Is it just ambiance or is the game trying to communicate something to me?

Okay I am love with this game. I started playing at 1:30PM, felt like 20 minutes went by doing random scans and mining shit and the clock says 4PM.

Where the hell did the time go?

Look up in the sky and see if Ships are passing overhead. Their engines are rather loud and can be heard from a planet's surface.

If I go to another star system will my current mission look for a place there? or is there any other way to reset a mission cause the building I am supposed to go into has no doors.

Not really stuck, just read on here during work that it skipped the step regarding antimatter, and there was away to more or less complete the tutorial quest without it active and get everything back on track... or did I read some post wrong? Lol ( which is ENTIRELY possible!) Just got home from work and about to start 'er up again after a little bit of playing this morning, just wanted to know if I should continue on or not!

Is there no pre-load for the UK because I can't get the game to download to my PS4 all I've got is a countdown timer on the store page when I'm on the PS4. When I do it on my phone there is a download button which when pressed says it's added it to my download queue and will start once other downloads have completed but nothing else is downloading. Been trying now for half an hour as I was hoping to play for a couple of hours at midnight.

Edit: got it in my library :)

What are the opinions on the additional Limited Edition content? I mostly just care for the DLC.

I actually just now got it (banderas.gif). The outer packaging is very nice, the steelbook art is not great. The comic is really hokey, with bad (3d rendered) art and bad dialogue, but I haven't looked at the story yet. The art book is nice, but would love to see a coffee table book with more of it and bigger. As LEs go it was a nice attempt but a bit off in execution.

I don't see that "note from Sean" piece of paper that was passed around on social media... was that only sent to press people? I was looking forward to reading that.

Not really surprising. The online server might not be able to keep track of the positions of players in real time in the whole universe, it should be much more static and simpler to keep tracks of a rough position of ships.

The way I see it, you arrive on a planet, you send the position of your ship to the server, you get a seed to generate the planet, you wander purely locally on the planet, and you only send your discoveries to the server, whatever else you might do is not recorded except by your own computer. So if two players are on the same planet, they should be able to see their ships, maybe their discoveries, but that is it, not even the animals should be at the same positions for the two players.

Lol this is pretty great! Chat going in full apeshit. I hope they can meetup somehow.
It would be amazing if it happens, but as it stands, it's a shame they can't just see each other being that they're in the same exact spot and all. Feels like players were mislead a bit.

I'm totally cool with this actually. It would be neat to actually meet up with and see players, trade with them, etc.. but I can see why they would limit it in these early stages with the Atlas Pass stuff, etc.

One day! :)

So I've yet to pick this up from best buy ( I'm old school lol )

How is it from a point of pure space exploration in general? I just wanna fly around. ( Will get stuff for fuel, that's fine and all )

I hope at some point jn the future you'll be able to interact with other players

What if it has something to do with the endgame? Like you can't actually see other players unless you complete the main quest line?

Yeah, it pretty much skips the part of having to build and fuel a hyperdrive because the DLC ship already has one installed and ready to go.

Here's something I wrote up a couple of pages ago about the subject. A lot of people are confused about this, so hopefully this clarifies a few things.

ANTI-MATTER & ANTI-MATTER RECIPE WITHOUT THE DLC VECTOR SHIP
Almost immediately after leaving your home planet you’ll be given the quest to build and fuel a hyper drive. Building the drive is fairly straight-forward, but the real confusion seems to be coming from fueling the damned thing. In order to fuel your hyper drive, you’ll need to craft a warp cell. In order to craft a warp cell, you’ll need a couple of ingredients, most of which are readily available. Where you’re likely getting stuck is looking for anti-matter. The game doesn’t make it explicitly clear that won’t be able to craft the element just yet, you’ll get your first taste thanks to a generous alien on a nearby planet outpost.

After building your hyper drive, scan the planets in your system until you find, what I believe is a distress beacon. This will lead you to an on-planet outpost where you’ll meet the alien with the anti-matter. There’s nothing special you have to do, just talk to it. Assuming you’ve gathered the rest of the ingredients, you’re ready to fuel your drive and leave the system.

Upon reaching the new system you’ll discover another beacon. In my case, it was an abandoned facility that I had to break into, but it may differ from person to person. Either way, you’ll have a beacon that you’ll need to travel to, and this is how you’ll get the anti-matter recipe, which is necessary to continue the game.

ANTI-MATTER & ANTI-MATTER RECIPE WITH DLC VECTOR SHIP

One of the perks of redeeming and using the Vector ship is that you’ll be able to skip most of the above. The ship is already equipped with a fueled hyper drive, allowing you to leave the system shortly after your initial repairs.

Once you leave the first system, the steps remain the same. You’ll scan for a beacon and find the required recipe. There’s no way to skip over it, because it’s required to continue the game. I switched to the Vector shortly after arriving at the nearest space station in the new system. From there I went on to acquire the recipe needed to continue my journey.

Landed on a planet that has massive Emeril rocks! Collected well over 700 pieces from just one. This shit is worth so much. Also met an alien who gave me coordinates to a broken down ship. In the process of repairing it, but damn is it good. Has a phase coolant tau, and a warp reactor that should get me into deep space among other things.

Fam, I'm on my third galaxy. Do I need to go back for atlas.

Game is good. Definitely lived up to the hype for me.

Confirmed:

You can not see any other players or ships :(

Why did Sean say this?

I read that there are player actions that could be recorded by the server and would change the planet for other players. I don't know what kind of actions these are, I imagine some kind of death star blowing up half of a planet or something.

You poor thing.... against all evidence, still hoping there's multiplayer in this game.

Sean needs to come out ASAP and say: "You will *NEVER* see another player in real-time in No Man's Sky. I should have been clear from the beginning. Sorry."

So... They shipped my copy out at 11:30am.... I still don't have it... Why they do this so late! Its now 4:30pm. I never gotten packages this late.

I don't know why people expected this to be a thing. I always assumed that the impact other players have is based around what they have done to a specific planet.

How did they run this experiment?

Quick question: When you buy a new starship, does the fuel, etc. from your previous ship carry over? I've got my hyperdrive pretty well fueled up and I don't want to waste those warp cells if I buy another ship.

Guys, relax. It's all a part of the multi-verse.

Probably asked already but is that big day one patch out already? In eu land? My preorder download says 1.3 and is just over 5gb. It unlocks at midnight but I'm wondering if I'm gonna have to download another gig before I can play :)

Hopefully just a server issue, or maybe one of them isn't online properly?

It'd be pretty upsetting if there was no online interaction period, especially after the repeated confirmations that you could see other players' avatars if they were on the same planet.

That was expected by many. Interesting to hear it confined.

Questions: Still on my first planet and I'd like to sell off some stuff. I encountered a shop early on but have not found another shop for the last 4 hours or so. Where can I sell off my loot? Any way I can auto-pilot back to the first waypoint I discovered or something?

(Edit: I'm guessing those Gek charms and other green-labeled bits and bobs are meant to be sold, right?)

I think you have to transfer everything over. I remember seeing the confirm menu say at the bottom or top to transfer your items when buying a ship.

For the galactic map, is the orange line the suggested lien towards the center? I want to make sure I'm going in the right direction.

Yeah, sorta.

That's the quickest route to the center, but I'd suggest deviating quite a bit. Who know's what you might find? The path will also alter if you decide to explore outside of it.

Most outposts and all space stations have trading posts. They're not actual people, but spherical computers on the walls. If you're on a space station, spend some time in the hanger and wait for traders and merchants to land. Walk up to their cockpit, and you'll be given an option to buy and sell items, including their ships.

Yeah, those things are pretty good money.
