Is it safe to redeem the pre order ship after you leave the first planet? Think I remember hearing it could mess up with atlas thing if you redeemed it at start

People seem disappointed in other threads but everything I've seen of this game so far looks fantastic. I didn't have quite the expectations others had and this game seems to be exactly what I thought it would be so maybe that's why. I'm still going to wait until the dust settles a bit before committing to it though. My GF is away all next week so I'll probably bite then and just absorb myself in NMS. Videos and impressions in this thread have me tempted to jump in now but I'd rather everything be completely fresh when I have nothing but time to play this.

Man, some of the guys in the NMS fanbase (i'm talking about this video guy) are just ridiculous with the fake drama.

Look, it's launch day, Hello's servers are buckling under the weight. People are having trouble even making a connection, and yet people are freaking out about meeting someone else, when the reality is probably that the servers couldn't keep track of two people's locations in real time? Y'all need to just relax and let things settle down before accusing Sean of lying.

Some people are thristy for this game to flop and every argument count.

Is this such a deal breaker? An event like this would be more like an hard easter egg to find than anything else.

The fact that two players found the same spot is indeed cool, but nothing more than that.

So I came across this deserted planet that only really had iron in it, it was sandy everywhere but there was this HUGE worm/snake like creature slithering through and digging into the sand. It was approximately as long as one of those big trading ships and as thick as two Starships stacked on top of each other. It was really freaky..

I also came across some sharks in a watery and green planet as well, but it makes me wonder if there are creatures as big or perhaps bigger underwater..

You sir have found an extremely rare sight.

Lol some alien tried to kill me in the convo piece, was able to use a pull rank cause my standing dude bit off a piece of his own tongue in the next dialog.

Loving this game

Probably because this thread is full of people actually playing the game, rather than trolls shit flinging and causing drama just to hate on the game in the other ones lol.

Could someone detail the ship combat? How deep it is in terms of moves? I know it's more on the arcade side, just asking if there's more to it than pointing and shooting.

What's this Atlas stuff all about? It gave me a choice to either select some Atlas path or go my own way, I don't want to be forced to go to some pre-determined route so I selected the other option but now it seems like I need it to access some locked doors etc...? Since then I've stayed in the same system but I've discovered 3 planets since.

Unfortunately all three planets so far have been very similar, all rocky, barren wasteland type places. I hope I find something a little more varied soon. I don't usually like to spend more than a couple of hours on a planet.

I got REALLY lucky with my first planet. lush, green planet full of minerals and everything I needed, big animals, 3 language stones..just beautiful.

only annoying thing so far is the FOV. please HG give me at least an FOV slider until 90..

I bet you end up playing it longer than him, that is a fast track to burnout.
Psh, how am I going to be burned out when I'm only been playing for 6 hours and I've been loving every passing second. Like I'm refusing to leave my first planet because I'm having fun learning about this race and exploring

To put things in perspective I played skyrim with 0 fast travel

Played for 5hrs last night, stopping only when I realised I needed to be awake the next day. Most of it was on Vita Remote Play, which works pretty well, aside from when you have to use your Multi-tool.

Found a lush planet where it's constantly raining and storms happen pretty much every few minutes, but lingering there too long would crash my game, so I didn't stay to explore. It spawned an abandoned building with no way in which was also kinda annoying.

Blimey. How swiftly GAF can turn! I've see it mentioned previously but it really is either love or hate on here. Rarely any sensible middle ground. Looks like NMS is next for a savaging.

And honestly, I'm still confused as to how anyone feels mislead. Its been pretty clear to me for a loooong time now what NMS is and does. I don't expect any major disappointment when I play tomorrow.

I'm enjoying the game so far, but am having an issue that's really bumming me out.

I'm on the second planet I've seen that has water. Both times I have not been able to reach any way-points on the planet. It'll seem like I'm getting closer to them, but the time to reach destination will randomly shoot up and I'll never get there.

At first I thought this had something to do with planetary rotation, but I find it odd it only happens to me on planets with water.

I am not seeing much hate from people that got the game to be honest.

The third planet in my first system is incredibly lush, vibrant and teeming with life. Some of it hostile.

I hope you named the desert planet Arrakis. That sounds cool as fuck.

Sadly I didn't name the planet that, haha xD I'm not really big on naming things, I like leaving them as they are.

It was SO cool but much more frightening, I felt tiny in comparison and sought comfort in my ship, flying far away from it.

You sir have found an extremely rare sight.

Has nobody else found complex life yet? So far that's probably the craziest fauna I've seen so far.

Sadly, no ;-; the planet itself didn't seem to give much reason to stay, and I was nowhere near valiant enough to follow it down the tunnels it was digging. In short, after I saw that I just NOPE'd it out of there.

As for the Sharks, I found them really cool and all but I didn't find them to be too noteworthy aside from the fact that they're "real world" animals. I've seen slightly large sunfish like fish.

If the goal is to get to the center of the universe, could you have a new game spawn you nearly there? Or is there a script in the new game creation that says they have to be XX light years away.

Mostly everyone who is playing are really enjoying it. The ones hating don't seem to have the game and are determined to prove there is no multiplayer when we actually already know there is no multiplayer.

Oh yes I've found plenty plenty of flora and fauna. But huge things like the wines you encountered are rare, on purpose. Sean has stated that they about there but super rare. Hence my comment :D

So I analyzed every species on the list and didn't unlock a Planet Zoology.

I know there are subspecies, but was I supposed to have unlocked that milestone already?

I also landed on a moon which didn't have a dangerous atmosphere, so I decided that I'd take the 10min walk to my objective, this place didn't seem so bad.

That's when I discovered that everything on that moon was OUT FOR BLOOD. I got swarmed by these tentacle crabs the entire way that would knock out half my shields in a single hit.

It was not a fun 10min walk.

I've seen the same dinosaur with long fingers for the longest, including three versions in my game.

I hope they can get some variance on those arms soon, because his spindly fingers are gross.

Are planets all the same mass; do they have different gravitational pulls?

Are stars all the same? Any red giants or brown dwarves out there?

Are there any 'active' enviromental features? Volcanos, waterfalls, rivers or anything like that.

Thanks
