On most planets people have been on how many different species of animals or plants are there?

Do you basically see what you are going to see in a few minutes of walking around?

Videos I've seen seem like you drop on a planet, see one or two plants, a few life forms if any, and those are spread all over the planet with some terrain that's varied and minerals..

I guess are there planets with dozens of different species on them? Or mostly just a few?

I'm going to ask again in case anyone knows - is there a way to get rid of the 'unredeemed items' message if you don't want to redeem the preorder ship? It's pointless to me now.

Did you try to redeem it, and then when you do the ship comparison, decline taking the ship?

The first race I found was the Gexs. They seem like intergalactic traders. Also, they had a streak of warmongering back in the old days.

Vy'keen race are the warrior type. Not too much interaction with them. They all looked like some type of walrus.

Korvax race mostly resembles humans that evolve into androids with TV on their head. They are scientists that sent out the sentinels into space (could be wrong about that).

That what I got within 4 hours. This game looks to me like Skyrim. But there this feeling that there is something else going on in the background that I can't see.

When you explore the outposts on a planet, sometimes you find new multi tools to purchase. I'm using an 8 slot now that leans towards offense.

They can be given by aliens too or bought at space anomalies. Mines up to 17 slots now and honestly I've not even manually applied a single upgrade yet. That was my plan for tomorrow. My suit is at 25 too so I need to mess with that as well.

Do you ever get to a planet and just almost immediately something about it (other than heat and cold) makes you panic and want to leave? Something surprised you and you aren't prepared for it?

I'm really thinking this game isn't for me. I'm wanting this game but with a lot more far cry 2 style chaos and deadly scenarios you have to survive.

Have played for around 4 hours or so. Getting annoyed that I can't find an exosuit or ship upgrade. Still stuck with 9 slot exosuit and however many slots the preorder ship has. Gotten my multitool upgraded twice (10 slots) but wish one of them was me or my ship so I could carry more.

My starting planet was a toxic green one that made me want to get off of it as soon as possible.

Eh, front touchpad being fire in Remote Play pretty much ruins it.

Did they really think melee deserved a button over fire? Really?

Steam or GOG? I'm leaning towards GOG, that way I can share it with my wife since she's on the fence about buying it.

First time around it was Vy'Keen for me. Really interesting the story told there with the stones. Now I have the Gex on this new attempt.

is copper super rare or something cause I haven't found any of it

Nah you can find asteroids in space made up of it. They're usually the larger ones that are more brownish.

Well you can buy new ships pretty easily.

I've had 3 suit upgrades, but no multi tool ones. Lol. I'm sure it'll balance out.

Alright, I have to know. Gonna buy a decent ship (not keep working toward a big upgrade like I planned) to see if I can install a hyperdrive. I went through the full tutorial quest after getting the preorder ship and using its initial warp cell...

Yea First time around I found a shit ton of suit upgrades. Each time it goes up by 10k units. I was up to 110k before having to restart due to my bug.

Wow, I hope I can find one of those. I have a ton of money and can buy a ship now, but living off discoveries is fun.

The easiest way to find them is by going to an outpost that has the machine which gives locations of POI's like monoliths. They give ship locations too but they usually suck. Seems 5 million+ is the cost paid for an almost maxed ship of 32 slot's. Not seen a 35 yet.

Maybe not. I've heard people say they want the opposite, more chilled out exploring. I guess you can't please everyone. For me the balance is about right. But then I kind of feel the game was made for me :p

To be honest though, it didn't really click until I figured out my playstyle after a couple of hours. Now I'm in the groove it's really hard to stop playing.

Yeah this ia me, it finally clicked. All i want to do mine shit and learn more about the alien races.

Havent left my system yet. I have a planet that has so much gold its insane lol.

Welp ive been sucked in for my first 4 hours. Great game so far. Tranquil yet death defying
Me too. 3 hours passed like 20 minutes. That game is amazing. I've been on 3 planets so far, one was quite hostile so I left after 5 minutes of being attacked by some huge lizards.

It lives up to the hype so far for me. :)

I'm kind of the opposite. Barely any mining, mostly planet hopping.

I think I like checking out the plants more than the animals. Also, the planets themselves and their geography is amazing. I think it's easy to forget how clever the tech is behind this game.

Also, I know the planets don't have different biomes, but wandering around there do seem to be different geographical areas. Plains, mountains, forests, grasslands etc.

I also couldn't disagree more with anyone who thinks this is an ugly game. I've played Uncharted 4 and Doom this year and this game has given me some of the prettiest views out of any PS4 game. I've definitely been lucky with planets though.

Loved every second of NMS yesterday. I'm pretty sure I mined the universe's biggest penis tower made out of pure gold. Made around 250k just from selling that.
Made my first jump and broke into an abandoned f
actory
.
Had to stop there and probably won't have time to play today... At least I won't get burned out that way.

Quick question about some story stuff:

So the three paths of this game are basically this:

- follow the atlas -> (is that the highlighted line in the star map? Can I deviate from that? For my first jump it wouldn't let me go down a different line.

- reach the center of the galaxy -> this is where I'm torn. I really want to reach the center of the galaxy but now that I know the atlas is a thing I also want to find out what that is all about! Is there a way to maybe do both in one run? Is anybody even far enough to answer that question? Did I lock myself out from that option by accepting the atlas at the beginning of the game?

- roam the galaxy freely -> pretty self explanatory

They keep talking about two other things to find. I got a monolith telling me to look for the centre or X and Y. Can't remember the names.

Went to 3 systems, and like 7 planets.

One was literally raining battery acid and storming, I could barely be outside for twenty seconds.

The planet I was just on (Which I lovingly called The Bank) literally has gold mounds all over it's surface. I spent an hour mining and running back to the station to sell and made almost 800,000 units.

I also found a water world with some islands, but it was kind of a pain in the ass to swim underwater and I have no upgrades to fix it, so I left.

This game is fantastic and beautiful. If you ever wanted to be an explorer this game will destroy your social life.

Anyone know an easy way to find creatures on a planet or something? I literally need one to 100% this one and I have been searching for this last one for the past hour...

I got to the second story choice I guess, and
was offered some assistance in a variety of ways, including the option to rejoin the Atlas (undoing my original choice?). I chose a shortcut to the center, which added a black hole WP to my galactic map.

Cool. Really don't want to restart this save. Looking for a fighter to buy to see if my drive comes or not.

Hopefully they can patch this soon either way

I bought through GOG as it was cheaper. However since then I've read that apparently GOG is terrible with pushing updates to games. I'd hate to download on launch day to discover it does not contain patch 1.03 / Day 1 patch.

You guys I need help. There's a waypoint for an abandoned building I'm supposed to go to, and kt's underwater. I don't know how to get in or what I'm supposed to do.

I've been watching people stream this for a good part of my day. I'ts kinda frustrating cus you see something interesting but the streamer decides to go elsewhere/ignore it.

PC release can't come soon enough.

Seriously, everyone should learn how to do THE LONG JUMP. It's an incredibly useful little advanced move that makes on foot exploration not only more engaging mechanically, but a lot faster. It's done by pressing melee while sprinting while nearly simultaneously hitting the jetpack button and using it as a throttle to control yourself. I really hope they don't "fix" wherever the momentum is coming from because this is pretty fun.

Thanks for this

Uh, I think I'm stuck in this space station.

Bought a new ship, and was immediately attacked and killed by pirates. Respawn back in the space station, and it won't let me launch - just get a little error noise when I try.

I respawn parked behind my old ship, so I'm thinking that's what's stopping me from leaving. So I refuel that and try to launch... still can't.

Restore a save, and the game crashes. When I reload the game, my old ship is gone, but it still won't let me launch from my new one.

Any thoughts? Will have lost a fair amount of progress if I have to restart.

So, not having bought the game just yet (didn't preorder and just woke up to 10th), there's something I just need to know.

Spoiler tagging just in case. This is about marketing pics / gifs and their relation to gameplay.

Anyone seen anything like that huge sandworm from that one gif?

Please be vague in your answer. (But not Sean vague lol)

Damn. I bought a new ship and couldn't install a hyperdrive. my old (preorder) one is still sitting in the space station, I can just take it back (and be out the 500k -_-).

I guess I should just restart my save... luckily I wasn't focusing on discoveries with this character.

For those who've gotten far in, does the gameplay loop ever change? Or is it just going to be the same pattern of finding waypoints, space pods, and language stones on just about every planet, with the occasional space battle thrown in? Just wondering, because I've only been to maybe 7 or so planets and they've all been exactly the same thing. I don't know if I can manage that for many more hours

Do new ships have more inventory slots? At this point Im tempted to just sell everything cause I dont have the room, so why not. Unless that is a game design choice to get you moving forward. There is no point sticking around these planets if I cant hoard resources.

shoot them, scan their bodies. Didn't figure out another way :-|

Didn't think to try that for some reason, lol.

But I've managed to scan 3 bird species so far anyways. Gotta get a little closer, max zoom and try to catch em when they're going in a straight path.

Someone tell me it't not going to always take like 30 minutes to get to places on planets!

Also, leaving the first planet and then going super speed or whatever it's called was breathtaking.

What most people seem to be doing is the 2 minute rule. If the marker is more than 2 minutes walk, get in your ship, if it's more than 2 minutes by ship, go into orbit and fly back down.
