Lol the game is not slow paced, you just need to improve your equipment.

Today i found a moon for the first time, and its caves where packed of "treasure" gold, 8 stacks and going on, omfg
I like it, but come on its a chill game that's a slow burn.

I find the sentinals very unnerving when you turn around and they're right there in your face scanning. I keep looking over my shoulder every few seconds when I'm mining and that sound they make gives me gamer anxiety.

Agreed. They nailed that aspect, lol.

For curiosity sake, I bet most people that are enjoying this game are "old". How old are you space cadets?

31 here.

31. Really enjoying it despite some personal things - FOV is too low for me and the turning acceleration[?] feels really weird on a controller. But, the game itself is so exactly what I want in a far future scifi exploration game that I just don't care.

I do kinda wish they would patch in an advanced flight mode, where the controls are tighter and you have more control.

I found a 2nd ship but in order to use it, i needed to find minerals and repairs. By the time i got the stuff...i forgot where the 2nd ship was.

Yeah, I'd love to see ad hoc objective markers a la MGSV so that we don't lose track of stuff. Actually there's several mechanics in MGSV I'd love to see this game adopt...

I landed on a planet today where they attacked on sight. Crazy.

My gripe is aiming the multitool. I wish I could adjust the acceleration on R3 while on foot.

But the FOV is also reaaaally narrow. I have no idea what it actually is, but I want more. I'm really hoping the PC port is good because I will gladly double dip at this point.

Mid-30s, and yes this is the Atari Falcon game I read about that never released.

Seriously, I read in a magazine when I was around 12-13 about a game where you learn alien languages, trade across a universe, discover new species and fight space pirates.

This morning I was playing and I found a large venus-fly-trap-like plant you could interact with and
it opened up with a pearl inside but as soon as I picked up the pearl the sentinels went crazy 3 star. Managed to escape but now if I stand in one spot to check inventory and a sentinel scans me it starts attacking me. The thing is, the pearls aren't even expensive and there's nothing in the description so it must be something you can craft with them that the sentinels don't like?

Make sure your tv isn't overscanning. That can reduce FOV by up to 10 percent.

PC monitors don't overscan by default while HDTVs do. So pc gamers often don't think to correct on their tv's.

Yeah, last night I tried to figure out what's off about the aiming on the ground. I turned the sensitivity up to 90 and it still feels sluggish. It's like there's some lag or velocity easing before it starts really turning.

Part of this because the game I've been playing before this is MGSV, so it's a harsh comparison. But I think the team should really study the aiming and feel of MGSV and try to duplicate that as much as possible. Because that's pretty much the best feeling FPS on console I've played.

awesommmme

just found this broken ship. Was a ton of work to repair it, the planet had periodic radiation storms and barely any heridium (I didn't come prepared), had to fly it offworld with no shield, weapons, or pulse drive, then crash into asteroids for a tiny bit of thamium-9 so I could reach the spaceport. I don't like the look of it and I wish it had more space, but it has a warp reactor and a bunch of pretty decent tech, and I don't have to spend money to get rid of the preorder ship, once and for all.
feels good to be properly spacefaring with my own ship. Now I can start making some profit to save up for a real upgrade and score some exosuit slots while I'm at it.

Only thing is I haven't found
the space anomaly with Nada to open the black hole for me
again yet. Wondering if I should jump a little further or if there's some randomness to where you'll find it.

Last star system was shit. A toxic world, a radioactive world, a barren world and I kept getting attacked for my stock every time I left the atmosphere.

With that said is there any way to return to previous star systems? Would have been nice if there was some sort of wormhole/warp you could leave behind in each system you discover. You could have you own galactic empire :)

Just before turning the game off, I noticed a tag recipe press triangle when you hover over a new technology. Anyone know what this does? I didn't have time to test it because I'm supposed to be working!

Can you not just warp backwards? I haven't ever tried to... I just assumed you could.

Some of these creatures....Yikes..Very reminiscent of Spore. Though thems the breaks when you are dealing with procgen things. Pretty funny.

An expensive droppable warp beacon.

Price reduced once you construct a mobile personal space station. No thermal exhaust ports.

In space, there's no forward or backward. lol

I jumped between adjacent systems numerous times on my previous save. You just have to find them, which is the tricky part. If you want to return frequently, you can set a waypoint on the galactic map by selecting it and hitting Square.

I played 2 hours yesterday which gave be a good feel of the game. I'm going to erase my save and start over again and not use the pre-order ship.

I seriously hope I end up on a more hospitable planet, my starting planet had a toxic atmosphere, so it felt too urgent walking around than I was ready, lol.

I can see how this game is certainly not for everyone, but from all the videos since introduction it seems exactly what was shown, well except for the few thinking this thing had multiplayer.

It's a combination of a few things

First survival type game
Retro sci Fi style
Slow paced
Relaxing
Thought provoking
Addictive
Soundtrack
Simplicity
Original

The list could go on and on. It's a "first" for me in gaming, something that happens only ever few years or more.

Yeah, I normally don't play Mincraft or survival time games, but this galactic exploration playground and everything you listed just draws me back in and seems to be a game I can play in spurts on and off for a long time just chilling.

I do hope in future patches they allow us to ease up on the FOV like how Doom does and offer faster walking speeds or land vehicles. That sprinting trick is going to come in handy till then.

Just a heads up, don't by a ship and switch to your old one thinking the new one will be there when you get back. Mine was not. Rip million units.

When I push down on my Dpad there is definitely a forward and backward (Atlas path) :P

I just figured I could hold the right stick the other way and go to wherever is on my star map that I can reach with a warp... ah well.

I'm done reading the review thread, I think. I have my issues with the game, and I'm a little let down with it (see some of my posts yesterday), but I feel like some of the discussion around reviews is becoming toxic. I think I'm going to limit myself to this thread when I want to talk about the game from now on.

Anyways, I sold 2
Atlas Stones.
and deviated from the path to the next
interface.
Should I go back to it and try to replace those two/get the rest that I need or should I just forge on ahead alone?

20.

I was just thinking this yesterday, I feel like when I was in my middle teens I loved fast paced games with lots of stuff to do that I'd 100%, but the last couple years I've wanted slower games with more freedom like this. I've been relaxed playing this so far, which is what I want, but I still kind of feel that tension of like "I need to go faster, I'm taking too much time, theres stuff I'm missing, ahhh!" creep in every once in a while.

That's how it works in Free Exploration mode. But "the other way" is tricky.

I am waiting for this to be out on PC but a question...

Do ships have different attributes? Or is it a purely cosmetic choice when buying a new ship.

I've out over 200 hours into Elite Dangerous due to playing and trialling pretty much every ship in the game.

So is there finally a sort-of definitive way around the pre-order ship bug where I can find warpdrive blueprints and avoid all of the other issues? I put around 4 hours in last night, and then I read today about the bug. I don't want to start over, I got a sweet multi-tool from an alien last night.

I'd kinda like to know this as well. Pre-ordered it for PC so I'm just hoping to avoid the starter ship altogether if possible, without breaking the game.

I THINK that the main thing is the ships have more inventory (basically "slots") - this along with cosmetics that is. The slots are for items or upgrades.

I redeemed the Pre-Order ship in the very beginning of the game and it didn't screw up the tutorial for me at all. I got the blueprint and everything just fine.
