Wow...

I learned all of the Korvax language.

Now you can order beer in korvaxish

*high five*

Very curious to read the digital foundry article on NMS PS4 vs PC, should be an interesting read.

Enjoy SS, saw it last weekend, and even though most people hated it and it got shit reviews, I enjoyed it for what it was.
Sweet. I liked SvB too cause Barfleck so according to the Internet I got shit taste so I'll probably love it ;)

How many words was that? To be honest, I did get a bit annoyed when I saw you had to learn multiple languages because I was getting to the point of understanding most of the Gex and answering questions without blind luck.

Check if it just makes all Korvax conversation legible, maybe fills in the conjunctions etc...

Few last pages of review thread is some posters being happy and gloating about how they were right, how NMS is turd and deserves to get shredded even more. I so hope devs aren't reading threads like that, people being happy that years of dev work is getting shit on hard.
It's sad, but I've never seen a game NOT have people posting like that. From AAA (CoD, Destiny, Dark Souls) all the way down to the smallest Indies (n++, trackmania), there's always people willing a game to fail.

Wait, I see people saying they're glad they did not use the preorder ship? What's up with that?

I wish I hadn't.

I'm one of the few who fucked themselves and traded to a ship that didn't have a warp drive. I don't have a blueprint because I redeemed the code prior to getting a warp recipe. Didn't even anticipate this.

Welp, I got to the
end of the Atlas part of the game, but only had 7/10 of the required items. Feels bad.

Now what lol

You can't get any more???

Not that I can see. I sold like 4 before I knew they were important, and when you
answer to the atlas 'refuse' (cuz it's the only option you have if you don't have enough at that point) a black hole appears and does I don't even know what, but it looks like the Atlas business is over. The checkpoints in the map section also do not lead to more Atlas things, so, like, don't sell that shit. I guess?
.

Call me crazy, but I'm initially quite disappointed with this game. It doesn't look very good and I don't find it very fun to play either. The same annoying drones has been present on every planet I've gone to so far, and the worlds don't really look that different to me, except for the colors.

Maybe it's just me though.

The variety will change, don't worry about that.

Pity you don't dig the gameplay. It does open up and add more aspects as you progress. There's a decent amount of depth.

I wouldn't call it "fun" so much as "satisfying" at this stage. Knowing what you have to do to progress, pulling your resources together, adventuring then executing your plan.

I did find the game fun to begin with though.

Something the game barely explains is that you get 200k+ units for finding all creatures in a planet. To do this pause and check your "planet breakdown" - all the check boxes. Then go animal hunting. Hold L2 for the scanner and look for little blinking white dots which signify life forms. It becomes like Pokémon snap.

Watch out for when you only have one or two left though. Can get really annoying.

So as someone who hasn't played the game yet and doesn't understand those mechanics, what's the reasoning for not using the preorder ship? I'll be playing the PC version when it unlocks, but don't want to screw myself.

Ah, when I don't have the materials I need for a conversation I hit circle to back out and come back to it later, maybe that was an option?

Still, thanks for the warning

Ok, so I'll be starting my first time in the afternoon. ...

Things I've learned to do/not to do by reading this thread:

1. Do NOT upgrade to the pre-order ship until after you build the hyperdrive and have the blueprint.

2. Do NOT enter a black hole with 3 waypoints already set.

3. Don't obsess too much over collecting everything as inventory fills quickly and resources are plentiful.

4. Make sure to place upgrades near the item that is being upgraded for a better effect.

5. Sprint/Melee/Jump for quicker movement....

Anything else I should be aware of?

It can apparently screw up the progression.

An early part of the game's "main" missions are something like

Receive hyperdrive fuel -> jump to new system -> acquire blueprint to construct more hyperdrive fuel

If you put the hyperdrive fuel in your ship but then change to a new ship with no hyperdrive fuel, you can apparently get stuck as you have no way to build/receive more fuel, and can't get to the next system without it

I THINK you're supposed to receive more fuel or something after wandering around for a bit, but a few people have reported being stuck here so I'm not 100% sure on what's true or not.

Edit: actually I might be describing a slightly different issue here? This is for changing ship at the wrong time, not sure if the preceded thing is the same or something different

I've seen them available to be bought for about 2m!

So I need some iridium to make a bolt caster. Any tips to what I'm looking for to harvest?

This was a *pain* in this ass to discover.

I have only ever found this material as asteroids in space. Not on land. Make sure your ship has enough space so you can see what you're getting and fire at the larger asteroids.

Hello games have a lot of patching and work to do but for me so far the game itself is fun and solid but things like the quests and specific jump fuel feel like last minute throw ins.

Dunno. I have lots of the other races.

I'm at 600+ words.

Check to see if there are any super-large asteroids in the space of your current star system. Sometimes they're iron, sometimes they're iridium.

^ :D

Thanks guys. Guess I'll blast of into the great unknown then.

What the... what? Is that a vape pen in the middle of the desk? Tisk.

From how I think levels work for the different statistical categories, I can see that I'm essentially at zero for survival and zoology. For the first I assume that means specific upgrades and a lot of wandering around and suffering on hostile worlds. The later? I have noooo idea how to go about trying to complete it for any single planet, to say nothing of many. Best I've managed is 6-7/10 and I can't tag any flying creatures.

Try to shot the damn things or get on higher Terrain

Ok, most fun I've had in this game is...

2 jetpack upgrades, planet full of Gravitno Balls and a terminal nearby. I'm leaping around like spiderman with the run+melee+jetpack jump, grabbing Gravitinos while the slow sentinels follow in tow completely helpless to stop me. Sell off the balls at the terminal when my inventory is full, make bank and go again.

7.5 million made on this one planet.

After restarting the game yesterday I realized I can scan more than just animals but everything and I can get money just for doing that, this kind of changes everything (for me at least)

Just a tip if you're going asteroid hunting. Make sure before you do you've got at least one slot full of oxide material incase you get into a dust-up w hostile ships. You probably already know that but I thought I'd offer that :D

Zoology Tips:

- It can be hard as tits to find the final few species, I honestly gave up a few times, sure it had glitched. Be sure to check the skies (I've seen planets with 3 types of birds), the sea, caves, AND....butterflies! Very small butterflies were a species on one of my planets that I missed countless times thinking they were nothing important.

- When you finally do get all the species, immediately press options and hold X on the little grey box that says '100%, upload for xCredits' beneath the list of species discovered. That's what actually uploads that data and ticks the milestone, it does not tick automatically!

- There is an exploit. Find a planet (most likely a moon in my experience) that is dead, devoid of life. Go and tag the 100% box as mentioned in the tip above. Boom, that counts as a milestone! Remember, you can also only tick that box when still on that planet, so don't leave first!

Is there a way to unlock it earlier on GoG using a VPN? I mean fuck, watching that timer tick down until 7PM is going to blow.

It releases globally at the same time, which also is the same time as the Steam unlock. It's 5 hours away everywhere as far as I know.
