No Man's Sky |OT| Hello Worlds.

Went to one outpost and found a new multitool with an extra 3 slots then talked to an angry alien and it gave me the option to hand over my weapon or keep it. I handed it over and got an even better one in return!

I'm confused. You can upgrade ships? I thought you had to buy new ones and abandon the old ones?

You can't upgrade the slots (which is why I was looking for a nice looking 48 slot ship by repairing crashed ships), but you can upgrade the weapons, shields and different drives.
I don't want to build all warp drives and other stuff only to have to build it all over again because I found a ship I like better. I don't think there is a way to transfer ship upgrades to new ships without dismantling the old stuff and then rebuilding.

Soooo I actually kinda want to hit the centre, but I'm still 158000 light years away. Black holes/warp drive only takes me a max of say 1,500 light years - surely there's something I'm missing?

Does anyone else have this odd glitch where you take off in your ship and it just launches you a million miles into space in 1 second flat? It doesn't happen to me every time, I'd say maybe 20-30% of my launches do that.

Yeah, it happens every now and then

Is it normal to have about 3 crashes an hour? (Not warping) Someone should have tested this game before release.

Not really. I seem to crash more when I input something during transitions. Like if I press buttons as I'm pausing, or I'm pausing at awkward times. A lot of crashes with pausing, really.

Aye, happens to me every so often.

Yep, it's weird. Convenient when I want to take off into orbit, though.

My first system was Korvax, second was Vy'keen, and third was Gek. I'm thinking of just hanging out in this area until I've learned a lot about all three. I found one Gek planet with knowledge stones every few feet it seems, so that language shouldn't take long.

You can buy any ship you see, but there's no ship dealership.

The latter. Doesn't have to be at space stations though, you can approach any ship you see, so it works at trading stations on planets as well.

Cool, thanks. I'll keep an eyed out for something nice.

In the meantime, I need to start farming for credits. Spent almost all of them on exo-suit upgrades, I think I have 22 slots now.

Only like 100K credits though :p

Every single thread about NMS has been shit on. People should be banned for it at this point, it's ridiculous. People saying they lied about having a 0.1% chance of ever meeting another player. It's like everyone forgot that Sean stated that if you ever did come across another player you wouldn't even know it's another player. So basically if you don't know that it's another player then why does having no multiplayer matter?

I'm at maybe 45 warps and about 174000 out from the center! lol WTF is this shit... i'm getting nowhere!
I've taken 3 or so blackholes as well
Fuck those black holes, they're too random. Your best bet is to just fully upgrade your HD and choose a star a couple of thousand LY away and keep doing that.

um, thanks for the update? :) ...

not that i've noticed. the only glitch i've had so far was after landing at one of those multi pad trading posts, i went off to farm gold, and when i came back my ship had fallen through the pad and was floating above the ground at a wonky angle. then when i tried to fly it out it had a huge fit because i was flying lower then the game allows and i was trapped under the overhead landing pads.

I landed on a hellhole of a planet, with no life signs except mega aggressive sentinel and a smattering of Gravitino balls.
Somehow, I don't feel like going through all the grief and hassle for 25K a ball. Too much running and gunning, the balls are not very close to each other.
Managed to pick about 10 that were close to the outpost, saved, and the next time I play I am blasting off.

One question: I got my second stone from Atlas station. I have noticed a Space Anomaly briefly after the first one, but the pirates confused me and I forgot to go there. Will I get another chance?

Okay, phew, I was worried I was missing something pretty awesome for a minute! Being able to upgrade slots and customise visuals/names of ships would be great, but I can understand from a gameplay perspective why that isn't an option at least.

Yeah you'll get another chance don't worry. Get used to being attacked more frequently though as you accumulate the Atlas Stones.

Make sure you check caves. I'm not sure if it applies to Gravitino Balls as well, but I found a planet with rare pearls that sold for 27.5k each, and though they were scattered apart on the surface there were dozens clustered together in caves. Picking one up instantly got me a 3 star sentinel rating, but they can't spawn in caves so I'd just harvest ten at a time, wait for the sentinels to give up looking for me, then leave the cave and sell them at the trading post 50 yards outside the cave entrance =D

Made 5 mil this way!

How often do you see another NPC outside an outpost and not standing in one spot? People playing move completely different compared to NPCs, especially the ones using the sprint/melee/jetpack combo for extra speed.

Check out the data mining thread. That 0.1% for seeing anyone is 0%. It is 100% not possible.

I know that's what I'm saying. Sean did lie but if you can't tell another player from an NPC what does it matter. Also Sean only said you'd be able to see each other in space. He never spoke about seeing the actual character model. Something which everyone is also brushing under the carpet.

I didn't think to check caves. I'm on a planet with these pearls scattered around, but sentinels start attacking after I pick one up. Gonna start checking caves etc. thanks for the tip!

Thanks for advice. I'm parked outside the trading post's, guess it won't hurt to check for caves in the vicinity.

Are they planning on releasing a theme on the PSN store? Would love to adorn my PS4 dashboard with some NMS art!

Theme came with the digital LE. Seems it came with the physical LE too in the form of a DLC code

I saw this little gem last night

With 30 slots!

... For a cool 10.2 million credits.

Grown man wanted to cry, with his paltry 1.8 on hand. :(

It's ugly though so I wouldn't touch it. Wanna upload a pick of my almost (grounded) x-wing-esque 29 slotter but not at home. Strangely it only cost me 6mil

Got the third hyperdrive upgrade and still in the 3rd system lol. I found an amazing planet that reminds me of Skyrim - so was just chilling there for a while.

I'm loving this game, and every time i come on GAF and see people complaining about it, for some reason i kind of have negative thoughts too.

I have only been playing it about 6 hours and i can already see the pattern of what to do, if something doesn't ever break that pattern up, it's going to get old quick.

Any idea when the next patch will be? i read that they're bringing in base building? that should be awesome

I've now made three jumps and visited maybe 10 planets but still havn't found even one multi-tool slot upgrades...am I doing something wrong of what? Please help me. Tips are appreciated.

How thoroughly are you exploring? Multitools can be given in a variety of ways.

I found a planet that had aliens trying to give me multi-tools like they were going out of style. It got to the point that I had my 20 slot just right and didn't even want the 22-slots they were trying to give me for free.

Had a very productive day yesterday

Got my exosuit to the maximum of 48 slots, got a new Multi-Tool with 9 slots and bought my first ship with 28 slots.

Have a cool 12 million even after all the exosuit upgrades and have a good bank of resources for my travels.

I keep seeing conflicting opinions on the best way to max your ship.

Buying one will cost a lot, with the larger ones of 35+ slots going for 10 million and even higher. But using the crashed ship method will get it to you for free except the cost of some easy to find resources, but you need to find multiple ships. My current ship is 28 slots, so I would have to upgrade it 20 times to get it to max.

Both methods seems really tedious to be honest.

What do you think is best?
