Final Fantasy XV - 50 min video

Can't watch, can't watch, CAN'T WATCH!

I watched a bit of it, looks pretty good if you ask me. Didn't like any of the voice acting I saw, though. It was really awkward.

Watched quite a bit of the video (didn't watch the beginning, skipped around the middle, and watched all of the end) and I really enjoyed what I watched.

I think it might be tempered expectations, though. The IQ and AA aren't good by any stretch of the imagination. But the VA isn't nearly as bad as many of you make it out to be. Its B tier, I'd say, but not horrible (Basically I've heard much much worse and this doesn't make me want to switch language dubs). The music is ace with many more battle themes than I expected. Seems to follow the KH approach of having different battle themes for different types of areas and in different "boss" situations.

Liking what I'm seeing of the banter too. This is especially true when Cor is in the party. You can feel how they see each other in the banter like how they always refer to Cor as Marshall, or how Ignis even asks Gladio to heal Noct when he's in danger. It adds to the moments, but hopefully it doesn't grow stale by the 40+ hour mark :P

The combat actually seemed quite good to me. Liked that they showed wait mode a little too (along with Cor's attack). It just looked like it would be fun to attack similarly sized enemies. Also, I seriously LOVE these enemy designs. That spider thing nearer to the end was ACE! Magic synthesis makes me a happy camper! Looks like there are 4 magic types out in the wild (probably fire, ice, elec, and holy(maybe its dark, who knows)) but it looks like "cure" might not be conventional in this game. Since we've seen "heal fira" before, maybe we can make like a AOE heal blizzara or something. makes me excited to have magic + effect boosting. Then again, Libra is in the game so maybe Cure will be standard and you just have to mix it or buy it or something :P

I also think that people might have some expectations of the open world that this game won't fulfill though. Its definitely backdrop for the story, side quests, etc. but I wouldn't expect a Witcher 3 style open world where you get something or do something super frequent. I probably won't care too much, since a "open world as background" is what I'm fully expecting, but I can definitely see people hating on this aspect.

I think the most important 2 things are that as I was watching, it looked like fun and felt very "final fantasy". I was smiling why watching this straight gameplay footage, which rarely happens. I want to get my teeth into it. The other thing is that despite the realistic setting and stuff, it definitely "feels" like a Square "mainline" final fantasy game. I always felt like mainline final fantasy games have this odd ineffable thing about them that made them all final fantasy titles, which (considering just how different many of the games are) goes well beyond tropes and cliches. I just felt, while watching the video, that this game has that weird thing.

I was scared that I wouldn't like what I was gonna see considering some of the impressions here, but I'm actually glad that I watched this. It sure as hell isn't gonna be a perfect game, but I have a feeling that I will enjoy it all the same!

Yeah...the voice acting could definitely use better direction. Some deliveries are good, but alot just feel flat or under acted.

I think the VA stems from us going from FFX and Grandia 2 (which wasnt that bad from what I remember) seeing lots of JRPGs come and go with progressively better VA choices and delivery, and then XV coming back around with a mix of quality.

Nice that the party size doesnt seem maxed out at only Noct + 3 though.

lmao people saying this looks better visually than Witcher 3. C'mon.

I dont know if i am blind or they are blind, to me this game looks bad, bad vegetation, meh textures, witcher 3 looks much better, from the grass, vegetation, to character models and their cloth textures and skin. I am only talking about the look not things like character movement , etc... this ff 15 leads.

Lol nah bruh.

Although I am starting to warm up to Prompto
...a little

This shit right here?

This is why I'm looking forward to the game. Just a bunch of friends on an adventure, growing and changing together. Love it.

It's also why FFX-2 is one of my favs (that and the best ATB in the series).

Agree with all your points. Really looking forward to playing the game now.

The size of the map gives me a little confidence that we haven't really seen anything yet when it comes to the fantastical elements.

Don't worry, Square will probably spoil almost everything in 2 months. PLEASE BE EXCITED

This definitely has me trending optimistically. I will still wait for reviews, I think, but I have a lot more hope now. My biggest concern is that some of questing shown seems very MMO-ish. Like go clear these 3 camps of enemies while I fix your car? Now, I know that's early and those are tutorial quests, but I just hope they're not representative of further content in the game.

Music is good. I kind of loved the inclusion of that Florence and the Machine cover in there.

Overall, I am looking forward to seeing some reviews of the whole game. I am actually sorta glad they delayed it though, so I can finish up some other stuff before it comes out.

Having mulled it over I think I'm fairly pleased with the footage. It looks like it'll be fun and in some odd ways it feels very Final Fantasy (the tombs mostly).

My biggest concern now is that Famitsu played this for 25 hours to get to that point? Is this the MGSV of the Final Fantasy franchise, where everything is filler exploration between short bursts of narrative. I had enough of that already with Xenoblade X.

Oh god the hair. Is it somehow even more dithered than XIII?

Aside from that, the non-combat portions look good. Pretty FF to me. Still not 100% sold on the combat.
