I agree with you that the anime scenes worked a lot better than what we've seen from the game, but they aren't 100% comparable. The anime is in reference to Noctis coming to terms with his father's accelerated aging and potential death. Its about Noctis realizing that the people near him will die, and die way before him, and being the teenager he is, doesn't want to think that. He's forcing himself into denial.
The game's scene is more in reference to to the deception of Noctis. How no one told him ANYTHING prior to leaving. This scene is much more about shock and anger for Noctis. Its about how he hates the entirety of the situation he's in, how he feels in pain both in that his dad is potentially (probably) (almost 100%) dead, but also that the invasion was a huge risk and no one warned him or told him (presumably so that they could keep Noctis away as a contingency (i think...))Where as the anime scene is about a depressive moment of impending death and weakness, the game is much more about deception and anger. Its about how Noctis can't believe that his father could so blatantly lie to his own son.
What I do like about the game scene is that its about Noctis finding a sort of point to blame here. A weird point of anger, sadness and focus that makes things more personal. Regis left him off with a smile, and a lie, and is now dead(?). I definitely think the writing and the acting could be a bunch better, but the concept of the scene is apt.
