Final Fantasy XV TGS 2016 Trailer

Man this game. The trailer was decent but between Luna's "strong" character, Cindy, Gentiana's possible small role due to minor appearances in XV's marketing, and

these giant bouncing Shiva breasts, this game is just a constant assault when it come to women.

I'm ok with the bro theme and and no playable females or whatever, but most of the few female characters in this game have been shown in such awful ways.

It's a miracle Aranea was given pants, but she still has that awful top and does the whole dominatrix thing with the prince.

Sexual Frustration Fantasy XV. You need something to break up all the bro stuff.

The strongest thing we've seen her do is push a gun aside. It's not like we've been given a reason to believe that she's strong.

We've literally seen a preview of her fighting off Leviathan?

Come now, how can you call that a strawman when your very next sentence is that. You know exactly what you're saying.

No one is saying abused women can't be strong or whatever nonsense your peddling. We're saying we want to see something other than her being beaten the fuck up.

"Oh but her eyes show her determination so it doesn't matter if she shows actual competency in game!"

Don't gimme that.

Maybe I'm being naive, but I feel like Sony, if not Square Enix themselves, would be making a big deal of impressive PS4 Pro mode screens. If no one is saying, I'd assume these are from the base version.

2 scenes of Luna being hit
2 scenes of Luna defying

That actually looks pretty good on the Pro.

That gif of the slap will have legs tho. I know people here already used it as an analogy for FFvs13 fans and SE or something lol

That draw distance is quite insane though. I'd be really surprised if that was the base version on PS4.

Tabata said they would fix far off vegetation in the distance before a Pro version was known. There's some very notable jaggies in the trailer which is the opposite of the Pro version impressions people got to see behind closed doors.

"For his the IQ is perfect and the draw distance is on another lvl , the PS4P pro version exploits the full potential of Luminous Engine .
He also says it is the best PS4P upgrade he has seen (maybe the only one truly worthwhile according to him ) ."

Gamergen impressions of XV Pro:

"What does FFXV PS4P bring to the table ? Well, in three words: it is MAGNIFICENT !
Between the demos we tested and gameplay videos we've seen so far, we can confirm, yes, this production will be much more flashy on the new Mister.S' hardware . Because the aliasing has almost disappeared and the clipping is better managed.
The environments are dense and alive, for once, the frame-rate (fps) seems to be constant when a number of decorative elements is displayed on the screen.
Optimization for a 4K picture, it brings several things. First, a sharpness in textures that literally explodes the retina. Everything is beautiful, everything is clean, it's breathtaking. Then the colors are dazzling and showy, in other words, it is masterful."

Stella fans do the same shit and back it with fanfiction but...that's okay I guess?

Possibly, but they also probably don't want to alienate the 40+ million standard PS4 users, by saying "look how much better it's going to be on the new PS4".
I think it's the standard version too btw, still too many jaggies for it to be the Pro version.

Kingsglaive.

We've already had far too many scenes of Noctis samaing, and even in this trailer, it was too much.

Being devoted to her goals doesn't make her a weak character. Her goals involve bringing peace and light to the world. Noctis is key to this. It looks bad cause Noctis is a male which I see.

I see both sides to it, and Luna is the one who I think has the strongest chance of being a weak character. But I'm not gonna jump to that conclusion based on a very few scenes we've seen of her in game. Yes, KG does not do a good job but that movie doesn't do a good job with a lot of things.

wow strong character truly confirmed.

wait till we see her KOed by Leviathan like by Ardyn.
Now you're just being silly.

"Yeah she fought off a god, but she was probably tired after the fact. So weak."

It also looks like Ardyn shows up after she fights Leviathan and hits her because she was exhausted from the fight. Like she was too strong to face head on, so he attacked her when she was down.

But I'm not really that interested in being part of another FFXV thread cycle, so I think I'm out.

The PS4 Pro talk continuing to infiltrate every thread about an upcoming game is kind of annoying. But I'm pretty sure this isn't the Pro version because I think Sony is pushing the devs to use the disclaimer at the bottom of their video for Pro footage.

Anyways that's a pretty great trailer. It's been awhile since we got one of those.

The point wasn't that she's now automatically a strong character. I was pointing out that you were wrong about the only strong thing she has done is move a gun aside but whatever I guess.

Pretty much. She held a sword for a few seconds so that makes her the strongest female character that ever lived.

Looks good if it's the vanilla ps4 version. If that's the pro version, it's quite underwhelming. Like another poster stated, if it were we'd know, so I wager it's not.

Not feeling Luna here, either,. Rd

This right here. Stella fans wanting something different called scenes like this as a heavy possibility in regards to Luna from how Tabata/S-E chose her first portrayal and the moment Tabata said "she's strong willed."

She may still end up a good character but the fanbases of the character types don't 100% overlap, but we'll see with the final product.

Stella's very first portrayal in a trailer was also an epic standoff on completely equal footing with Noctis.

shrug

Okay, and therefore what? With all the footage from this game out in the open, I still have yet to be sold on the "strong" character nonsense.

Guess we'll have to wait till the ATR or later to get a confirmation I guess.

All I know is that I'm happy with the visuals they've shown in this trailer, Pro version or not.

Still looks pretty good, but that's quite the change from March to September at least on this scene. I remembered this one from the Uncovered trailer, as I watched it like, a million of times, lol:

his lips look weird in TGS trailer...

Stella was never shown getting her ass kicked constantly with pretty allusions to her being a strong character with nothing to show for it, people liked the concept of the character and nothing more.

Also, i'm not even talking about Stella, and i have not once mentioned stella in this thread. I'm talking about Luna.

Don't deflect.

Being devoted to her goals doesn't make her a weak character. Her goals involve bringing peace and light to the world. Noctis is key to this. It looks bad cause Noctis is a male which I see.

As i said, i hope the full game gives me a completely different impression in context, but its up to the promotional material to give me an impression of these characters and the story, and i'm not sold just yet.

I had no idea they showed the PS4 pro version behind closed doors :O Reading this has me really really excited to see it.

Luna is a cardboard cutout of a 'perfect waifu'. That's not more interesting, that's just a character crafted to service the hero's motivations and development.

That's definitely become my concern with Luna after Kingsglaive. It's a bit of a bummer to have your female lead's motivation 100% around the male lead, though we obviously don't know how it plays out in game, let alone how Noctis ties in to saving the world. It wouldn't be as bad if there were more women in the supporting cast, but when there isn't, it's a bit more awkward. I also truly don't think Stella would have ultimately gotten much better treatment, either, as Nomura has always been depressingly useless when it comes to female characters. Aqua's probably the best of the lot, and she and Kairi both kind of get stuck in that place where they are chasing/supporting the male leads.

At any rate, I do really like Luna, and hope FFXV does well by her.
