Dead Rising |OT| Chop Till You Drop Remastered

So about Overtime. I did all cases and did get a scene in de hideout, but it was at night still. I read I have to go there at 10:00 AM so I guess I have to go again then?

Means I can just wait or fuck around until that time, I was also captured and lost everything (those guys are sort of annoying) so I better just drive around racking up kills? Seems there are no scoops anymore.

Eh, they're both pretty damn awesome. I would say that 2 is easier at the start so you may be more compelled to continue than 1. Dead Rising 1's psychos can be relentlessly difficult.

Do you want a game that will challenge you but is fair and will allow you to restart and use your honed skills to master a tightly laid out map or

do you want a slightly easier game with a bit more qol improvements then the first but also some stuff that makes it worse since it doesn't feel as rewarding when you do some stuff

I dunno I gotta go with 1

Ok thanks, i mostly just want to kill some zombies really and have some fun messing about the map, no real intention on finishing the game or following any story line. Think ill go with Off the record.

Yeah that's probably by far the weakest part of the game. The game literally just stops for 13 hours at the end of 72 hour mode with no real way to speed it up, as if you get captured by the soldiers you get an ending. Part of me wonders if it's not because during playtesting they found that Genocider was too hard to get unless they had a little bubble there at the end for players to abuse.
I asked a refund for Dead Rising 2 since I couldn't get a damn controller to work. It's a known problem, apparently.

I know you already asked for a refund, but give the keyboard a shot. The game controls /really well/ with KB/m, honestly better than the pad if I'm being honest. You might be surprised!

There's all kinds of collection based achievements that benefit from that time, I'm wondering if that was the intent. Try out all food, photograph all PP stickers, try on all clothing, kill 1000 zombies barehanded, kill ~57,000 zombies, etc.

Hopefully we get a mod where we can increase game speed by 2x,5x,10x for achievement and speed run purposes.

When I fought the psychocop there was only one girl?

Have you tried reloading the save?

I know it wouldn't make much sense story-wise but I wish they'd left a few survivors to save during that time frame.
Since I didn't care about the achievements and didn't want to farm XP I just left the game running for a while until could continue the story.

Also, man did that last boss fight sucked. I get what they were going for, but the melee combat just isn't satisfying to use against bosses.

Is this available on disc? I ain't seen it anywhere

Your overall point is definitely correct (although it's annoying that you are truly left with nothing to do once you have all the achievements) but one unfortunate thing is that you can't actually get the PP sticker achievement entirely during that last night - you do have to go out of your way to get captured by the cult earlier, which is annoying if you're trying to do Saint or something on that particular run.

you were too late. She kills her hostages as the time on her scoop decreases

Mind blown.

To be specific, she doesn't start killing people until you enter Wonderland (once you've started the scoop). You can wait until the bar turns red before you complete the scoop and as long as you can make sure to kill Jo immediately after entering Wonderland for the first time after triggering the scoop, all four of her hostages will be fine.

The time limit in this game is bullshit I've beaten the girl hunting case four times now within the time limit (on red) and it expires all the rest of the cases. Think I'll just uninstall rather than go through it all again ugh.

Time limit is fair. Most likely route optimisation and poor planning , or you've done too many scoops and not given yourself enough time. It's actually possible to do everything in one run if you plan properly.

Sorry bro, can't blame the game on this one.

Speaking of time limits, I beat The Butcher and as soon as the cutscenes ended my final case for The Facts immediately expired. I tried it several more times from my last saved game, beating the Butcher with just a few hits from the small chainsaw and I still get the next case expired instantly. This sucks. :( It ruined my first run at the very end. Was there a time limit I wasn't aware of?

I had that same problem. If I plugged in 2 controllers it fixed it.

EDIT: 1 wired xbox 360 controller and a wireless xbox one controller and then i played with the XB1 pad.

But what lvl are you now? If you restart you'll be able to get back to that point pretty damn fast. Sounds like you started the case too late.

Also dont forget you can still get a certain ending even if you fail all story cases

Something that gets lost at times when managing your time in DR1 is that the game does tell you when you're able to do a case or scoop by how the text appears. If it's solid, then it's immediately available; if it's transparent, then you have to wait until it becomes solid before you can engage it. Otis will also radio you whenever the hour at hand comes for certain cases, so you do get one more reminder in those instances.

If there is still time left on the timer then it shouldn't give me a game over that's what I find is bullshit. It shouldn't matter if I finished it with an hour/minute/second to go as long as I do it in the time limit it should clear it.

I'm level 18 at the part where
Frank rescues Isabela and she is recovering at the security room
. I think it's case 5-2.

Should I restart the game or is it possible to complete at this pace without restarting? Also, how far into the game I am?

Probably at 50%? Can't say for sure.

My advice would def be to restart. Just to make it easier on yourself and give yourself the ability to save all survivors you might have missed up untill now. Don't forget to make photo's as well^_^

*flashbacks to 2006*
You finished that particular case in time...but you didn't leave enough time to do the case immediately afterwards thus the fail state.

NEVER let a main case get in the red before you get around to doing it, main cases should be highest priority, do them all one after the other until you get the "next case will occur at blank am/pm" then do the side quests that you can manage, not before.

Okay, before I consider purchasing Dead Rising, I have one question. Is the convict boss respawn a glitch or do they actually respawn everyday? Because if it's the latter, I can bear it. Even though I will never be ready to hear "WEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLL....".

I still get flashbacks from playing on 360.

Replaying this game and being reminded of how awesome these skills are that you unlock. Each one is like a little nugget of nostalgia. A lot of them are just fun to fuck around with, but the double lariat (barehanded) can be real useful for clearing bunched up zombies cause more often than not it's a 1 hit kill.

So solve all cases and be at the heliport in time is the most shitty ending, lol.

But I was only level 30. I'm doing another run and then Overtime.

Those guys respawn a few times but are a joke. Grab the uzi from the paradise plaza canopy. Get just outside of their aggro range and cap the gunner. Kill the others as you see fit. Enjoy the free minigun. If you have a Sniper they're even easier (but idk if those can be gotten right away).

I love the music when they are around. I missed trolling them during the end.

In all likelihood, it's a glitch that no one on the development team thought was weird to have, so it stayed in and remains in the remastered version.

Well well well, a useful save was sitting there, I took the oportunity to go see Cletus that i forgot in his little alley, the cop next with all the girls, the two survivors hanging on the balloon, Wayne and the old Floyd. That's 8.

What do you mean the most shitty ending? The stuff that comes after the credits continues the main story!

It kind of helps to keep a few different save slots in case you need to go back and give yourself extra time.

I had a really difficult period earlier in the thread where I didn't give myself enough time earlier and ended up having to basically run a gauntlet of missions and rescues perfectly in order to beat the clock. Personally, it's fun for me replaying short scenarios to perfect them, though I could see how that could be frustrating.

This is why Dead Rising is kind of a niche product. It's such an awesome game if the difficulty and planning required appeals to you, on the other hand, mainstream gamers are going to be completely turned off by planning, difficulty, and obfuscated mechanics. Of course, this is what makes the game so unique and compelling.

The aiming controls are so mixed up in DR1. The right stick moves the game camera, but aim with a weapon and you need to use the left stick (and you can no longer move). Aim though Franks camera however and it's the right stick again (and you can move).

It seems it is possible to rebind most of the buttons, but not this? Or am i missing something?

You can switch this in the game, I think it's called arcade? Look in the options somewhere, it's 100% there.

I spoke too soon, there are two settings for the aim mode in two separate menus. Both have an "Arcade" option :s one fixes my stick mapping problem but the other one seems to do nothing. Thanks!

MMaRsu

That option doesn't change what sticks you use to aim. At least for me on PC w/ xbox one controller.

I just checked on PS4

Go into control settings > switch from classic to Arcade

That switched the aiming mode stick for me. So classic is left stick aiming, Arcade is right stick aiming.

Although I must say the left stick is easier for me because pressing square to fire and aiming with the right stick at the same time doesnt work for me.

Deliberately.

I didn't want to trigger OT. But then I remembered it pops up at the main menu. Dun goofed. But doesn't matter, game doesn't become harder at high levels.

Welp, looks like I'm getting it for PS4.

Convicts are very easy once you unlock the shortcut anyway, you barely ever have to deal with them :)

Ridley327

Yeah, the convicts are only ever an issue with Sophie, since she's the only one that's in their direct line of fire. You can take the shortcut or even the long way around with everyone else once the Entrance Plaza gate opens up to Paradise Plaza.

Or the maintenance tunnel if you are feeling gutsy!

I'm on day 3 and they haven't respawned at all.

Playing this again has been a blast. The nostalgia factor has been strong but the game still holds up I think. Maybe I'm better at games than I was ten years ago but I'm having no issues with time management and have even found the psycho's to be push overs. Killing the clown is easy with the golfclub, baiting the snipers into a shop basically fries there A.I and the female cop was easy enough.

Love the atmosphere, voice work and as a love letter to Dawn of the Dead it puts many in the zombie medium to shame.

They eventually stop respawning at some point on day 3. I think it's regardless of whether or not that you're caught up on case files and the military arrives.
