The title is just "Hulk".

Mariko Tamaki and Nico Leon.

"The title She-Hulk evokes light-hearted stories about a Jennifer Walters who is at peace with herself and in full control of her powers,” says Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso. “This isn’t that book."

Pretty bummed out about this. I'm a huge fan of the Byrne and Slott runs, and the character is best used for that kind of fourth-wall-breaking silliness, not serious material about dealing with trauma.

The Soule run had the right idea, but I just didn't think it was a good book. This upcoming run I don't think I'll even try.

Nooo.

My favorite She-Hulk of recent is as a best friend in Hellcat. Jennifer is a warm hearted, kind and optimistic person. This is bad.

Just the kind of She-Hulk story we're all waiting for... Right?
Alonso keeps destroying any interest I might have in Marvel. Give me back early Quesada! That was my Marvel Golden Age.

Am I the only one who don't really think feminine prefixes is that great of a title these years?
I approve of the title because of that.

Well, it's at least a unique setup for a Jen book. Not promising but guess we'll see how it goes.

As a fan I'm mostly just glad she's not dead

I hope they go for full creativity with the mood.
They could put her on a body armor full of thorns to remind her of all the people she has caused suffering. So deep.

This isn't the Single Female Lawyer She-Hulk I asked for. I'm willing to give this a chance though. I wasn't at all pleased with how they did She-Hulk in Civil War II so I'm skeptical about anything they have planned for her character going forward.

I'm sure this is boring to most people but I like She-Hulk the most when she is exploring the different legal issues of the events that occur in the Marvel Universe. It isn't an area that is really explored very often so it's nice to see. It's something you see in Daredevil, but I like the idea of him helping regular folks more. DD for the normals and She-Hulk handling big weird Marvel legal problems. I'm just not really in the mood for another Rage Monster comic that deals with them coming to terms with themselves.

The book will run at the same time as the main Hulk ongoing(Totally Awesome Hulk)where Jennifer before CWII was a frequent guest star btw. The other two books she showed up in looks to be dealing with missing her in different ways. Hellcat had a spotlight issue and now looks to be bringing in other characters. Writer just said she had no idea there would be a book Jennifer would be in post-CWII. A-Force where she was pretty much team leader looks to be cancelled.

Literally just saying yesterday that the thing I liked the most about She-Hulk was the distinct sense of fun and wreckless abandon in many of her stories, in addition to Jennifer's rather refreshing lack of angst as a superhero.

This feels like a disappointing creative direction to take that character.

....lets hope they still keep his 4th wallness ... and makes something like that classic animal man issue where it is sad and dark AND 4th wallness

I think that the fact that they are acknowledging who Jen usually is during this announcement is a good sign.

Agreed. I love She-Hulk as a character but taking her in a serious direction for a reason seems interesting. She's probably fucking pissed that
her cousin Bruce got killed for what might have been no reason
in Civil War II and she's probably also dealing with her own near-death experience. The coloring in this promo makes me think that she'll transform into a grey She-Hulk and have a more dour, angry, and destructive personality during this run. Her acting dark and brooding is more significant because she's always been such a positive and confident character, so seeing her struggle makes readers feels bad for her. Once the run ends and she finally deals with her issues, she'll become green again and it will be a feel-good moment.

Well it does look like her "grey with green scars" look from when she woke up in Civil War. Which looks dumb.

Ohhh hadn't even noticed the green scars/markings on her in the promo. Maybe it looks better with another artist. It's going to suck to see pissed-off/traumatized Jen for a while. But there's interesting stories they could tell, especially if she's still interacting with her old friends.

Yup. I definitely asked for this. /s

I am pretty open to trying new things when it comes to comics and concepts, but this does not sound very appetizing at all.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I'm so glad that they're taking her in a more dark direction. I like She-Hulk, but this can be the series that puts her over the top for me.

Genuinely very happy about it and I hope more series follow suit :)

Yeah, I'm interested in this. Would I want it to be a permanent change? Hell no. But as something to explore for 12 issues or so, could be really good.

I've never understood wanting a character to be the same all the time. Our experiences can effect our moods and personalities and I like to see that in comics too. Maybe this will suck, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

It sounds like a logical progression for a character who just had her cousin murdered in broad daylight for no reason and then the murderer walked free.

Shulk can go other places than happy laywer. Im not gonna tell people how to think but maybe we can see what doom and gloom she hulk is before spelling doom and gloom. Maybe the anti edge meme is going a bit too far. Character being reasonably mad for reasonable reasons is fine.

That looks rad as fuck

When that thing is different from 50 other things that are all the same, changing it to make it the 51st similar thing is not a welcome change. There are no shortage of mopey Civil War II books if that's what you're into.

But there are plenty of jovial books out now.

Im litterally reading one right now. Comics is such a vast medium your statement is factually untrue.

Man, a lot of people don't like this turn lol.

I'm all for character progression and new ideas though, so I'm hopeful this'll be interesting. Marvel needs to keep differentiating their line up and continue making bold moves.

I'm all aboard!

So they're shamelessly stating as literally as possible without outright saying it that they're taking everything that makes she-hulk, well, she-hulk out and making something completely different?

That would be fine for a bit if She-Hulk was this overdone thing that was getting stale, but She-Hulk fans are starved for a great run in the style of Byrne or Slott.

Even if someone happened to like Soule's run, that ended almost two years ago. I didn't, so I'm looking all the way back to the end of Slott's run in 2007 to find the last time I got a She-Hulk book I was happy with.

People don't buy those She Hulk books. :(

Miss Fixit

So what you're telling me is this arc will conclude with her getting super-counseled by a psychiatrist superhero after nearly getting killed by a slow-acting poison in her body, and have all her 3 personalities merge and make her huge and smart and stable all the time?

Wait, that's just her turning into She-Hulk again. :V

Deadpool and Gwenpool are now the king and queens of fourth wall breaking wackiness. That Byrne era She-Hulk doesn't fit the character in the new modern Marvel comics. To each their own but Soule perfected the right formula for what a She-Hulk comic should be. Maybe a She-Hulk book focused less on her being a lawyer will be unique? IDK.
