Dead Rising |OT| Chop Till You Drop Remastered

Not that long. It takes a playthough so around like 6 or so hours (IIRC each day is 2 hours?) to get it. Depending on how fast you ram the zombies into death, it shouldn't take more than like 2 days (4 hours) to get finished. In fact, doing this on a new game/fresh save is probably the best way of leveling frank since every 10,000 kills or so you get 20,000 PP or so, and then every 50-100 you get 500 PP.

Just to add to this: Yes, it only takes around 4 hours to do this. If you start with your full 72 and rush the intro at the start and do nothing but this (no cases, no survivors) you should have ~29 hours on the clock left to mess about and/or do some cases before leaving.

You'll go from like Level 0/1 to 28 doing this in one go. Which isn't anything to sneeze at since it puts you in the "back half" of getting to 50/cap.

Surprised my 970 and i5 4460 can't mantain 60 fps in Dead Rising 2. It drops to 50's in some places with many zombies. Is the performance in Off the Record any better?

I remember back in the day my Phenom II x3 and 4890 ran DR2 pretty damn smooth. I've only played a little bit on my 6600k and r9 380x, but it also seems smooth. OTR is not though. The cutscenes in that are bizzarely choppy at times. And there are dips when outside. Still very playable, though.

I've noticed on DR1 the safe house sees some big dips when it starts filling with survivors. And day 3 isn't perfect either.

Heads-up on DR1 PC - we expect to release a second patch that addresses the following issues:

- Black screen and crash upon launch
- Game resolution resets to default after relaunch
- Cliff's (the machete boss) damage rate scales up with increased frame rate.
- Missing audio under certain Windows configuration

Plan is to release it before this weekend if all goes well with the QA.

When I fought him he would take out my entire health bar with a single backstab. I just got really good at the fight so that wouldn't happen and I needed to defeat him very quickly to get to all the survivors I needed.

I thought something was strange about that much damage going out in one swing though (144 FPS), I thought it ran against all of the current damage output I had seen.

Week after launch and DR2 & DR2 OTR are still broken on PS4.

This shows how much QA was done on playstation versions. They didn't even try starting up the games.
Absolutely disgraceful.

And shame on me for believing that capcom guy here. I knew something was wrong from the beginning since they were not showing playstation versions.

Sorry for the troubles here.

Fortunately, QA and the dev team were finally able to reproduce the problem on one of the public PSN accounts and found a fix for it. They're working on the patch right now.

It turns out the issue was related to a specific PSN account type and under retail environment that was difficult to reproduce on dev network.

Apologies for the longer wait time, but a fix is on its way.

Do note the game can still be played in offline single player campaign as long as the console is disconnected from PSN.

It's actually kind of funny, but that boss whipped my sorry ass so bad for so long back in the day that I bulldozed him in this run of the game despite running at 144hz. He didn't even hit me once, iirc.

Bastard scarred me for life ;-;

will we see a fix for music relooping issues? For example, music like Frank's theme during the on-rails camera segment or the bomb-collecting theme doesn't reloop properly; it abruptly ends and starts playing again.

Also the mall music repeats the same song indefinitely until you move to a different area, instead of going through a playlist.

After my Dead Rising run, I decided to hook up my 360 and play Case Zero. Still a great little game. I'd love to see it run better though (maybe sales of the re-releases can justify that). Gets a bit rough at times. I was somewhat surprised to see how much of a precursor to DR3 it is, though. Still Creek has a lot in common with Ingleton, the first area in DR3. The safe house is a gas station. The layout and more realistic nature of the town. A lot of CZ is finding ways into buildings and climbing on top of them, something that was common in DR3. Rebuilding the motorbike hints at combo vehicles. The quarantine area is something we see a few times in DR3.

But because it has the time limit, it's such a tight experience. And I really enjoyed all the survivors. Lots of life to them. I'd really love if we got some smaller time limit focused DR games. I'd be okay if that was the way Capcom Vancouver placated the more old school fans. I still think these smaller scale games are a great way to introduce new characters.

Got this downloading right now.

I played and beat the game back in the day, but pretty much mainlined the whole thing and didn't mess around much with starting over and levelling up and what have you. Really looking forward to taking my time and playing the game 'properly' this time.

Strangely, no, that's C. B is letting the case files expire at any point, then making it to the helipad at the end of the timer.

Thanks guys!

That's me got Saint. Not going to lie I actually found it quite easy. I escorted most of the survivors in groups of 8 so it wasn't too bad.

Genocider next after a little break.

Finished Overtime mode. Shitty last boss, shitty ending.

Despite the many, many issues the game has, I had a great time. It's very unique and fun, I can see why it gathered so many fans.

Exactly how I felt. I argued with my friend about this and he told me I wasn't doing the right combo moves. I only managed to beat it because
Brock got trapped in an endless cycle of trying to climb back on the tank after falling off.

I think it's stupid that the two phases of the final boss rely on the two weakest combat parts of the game: fist fighting and shooting.

Finished Dead Rising 1 last weekend, thought I rescued all survivors but found out I missed that 1 guy hidden behind boxes on day 1. I was so pissed off. There's no way to know that. Second playthrough though, rescued everyone. Feeling pretty good about myself.

Adam's Chainsaw and those 3 books are just the best.

So after the
special forces
arrive, are you meant to just wait in the hideout
with Isabella
until 10AM? Strange design decision.

Also holy shit, repetitive survivor voices in the safehouse are the fucking worst.

If the team has time, have them look at the low resolution DOF effect. It would boost the IQ and is likely a quick fix.

Or maybe they've already take a look and the higher rwsolDOF clashes with the visuals.

My thoughts is you were supposed to collect some of the more tedious achievements while you waited.

What about microstutter? It's incredibly annoying having to switch back and forth between variable and 60fps in the graphics settings to temporarily eliminate it. Disabling in-game vsync and using Nvidia vsync instead didn't do anything.

Might try getting the achievements that unlock actual in-game items. Otherwise, fuuuuck all that.

Played Dead Rising 2 for two hours, then the game suddenly won't launch anymore. Tried everything but nothing worked. Asked for a refund and bought Off the Record. Hopefully I won't have issues with this one.

Spec Ops give 5000 PP per kill, so it's a really good idea to kill as many as possible to level up

I'm playing Dead Rising 1 now, and I've noticed a lot of sexual implication. Like how some female zombies bite under legs, a lot of bosses act or die strangely in the similar way. So is it just me bad person or this made on purpose?

Its on purpose and a running joke of sorts. Generally photographing those things increases the erotic points on photos
which is needed for a certain side quest.

I'm at lv 21 and reached this point. Not sure if I should restart and continue to gain PP or keep going like I did in 2007 and actually beat the game at such a low level. It was torture but also kinda fun.

So you didn't save very many survivors on your first run?

I think I'm just behind you in progression and I'm level 35.

Quick question for when the special forces come along

They come in and clear out the safe house of survivors, is that fine or did I mess something up?

Nope. I decided to start over but carry over my PP. I love how this game adapts to so many different approaches to playing. Too bad the devs for DR4 seemed to dislike that idea. :(

There's a note on the counter from Otis saying that he stole a helicopter and snuck the survivors out. You're good.

Man the Platinum for this will be an absolute bitch.

But I want to try it as I was SO close on my original playthrough in 2009 before my Xbox crapped out.

Probably what killed the Xbox since a few of the achievements involve leaving the Xbox on for multiple hours.

Nice. I will be able to check that out when I load the save.

Not so much the bosses with the exception of Jo, but some of DR1's NPC's are prone to those implications yes, like Isabella's comical laptop-typing posture. Dead Rising 2 kicks it up a notch though; Rebecca Chang may as well be redubbed as "innuendo the character" and there's a ton of not-so-subtle moments aside from that.

There's a note on the desk where Jessie used to sit explaining why Otis is a true American hero™.

if you take a picture of the survivor with the largest boobs in the game, each boob nets you erotica points (usually you only get one set from cleavage).

I think it was actually posted earlier in this topic. She doesn't even stand out all that much either, so I didn't realize it was a thing until this remaster.

Fuuuuuuuuuck. I messed up Saint by going to Wonderland Plaza via a shotcut when Jo's scoop was spawned. Missed three survivors doing that. *desk*

Guess I'll shoot for Ending A and unlock Overtime.

Get the upskirt photos for major PP points, I'm not even kidding.
