Kinda feels like the Wii U was a necessary step(misstep?) to get to this thing. And it looks wonderful.

And--

...And I just realized that this means the next Pokemon game will be HD by default. Will probably take years for that to happen but I'm already pleased!

The Nvidia Shield that has the K1 processor sells for $199.00. Also, has a battery life of 5 hours for gaming. I imagine the Switch shouldn't be much more expensive than that - especially if they are only using a 720p screen.

That looked incredible. Will need to get some more hands on impressions, price point, potential games, etc. before I make a decision.

With that name they invite jokes ala 'Nintendo Switch... to a PS4'. I wonder why no company ever uses their working titles. 'NX' has a nix ringing to it.

This might be the first Nintendo console I get since the NES - IF they don't release a new handheld (which seems unlikely after seeing the reveal). A unified platform means I can now finally play all the JRPG goodness that usually comes out on the 3DS, since I don't want to get a 3DS since I'm very averse to playing on a tiny screen, in particular at home. I hope we'll get a few ports. Really want to play SMT IV.

I'm so disappointed. I'm 38 years old and I have no desire for a handheld console.

Sony and MS and getting to 4K and VR and Nintendo is stuck on barely better than Wii U graphics at 720p because they think people will still buy a handheld on 2017.

I don't get it.

I am 42 and interested in it. And all my friends who I had a conversation with over the last twenty minutes as well.

For people like you, there are already two options existing.

Isn't having choices great..

LiQuid!

I proudly and openly admit to wishing death upon the mothers of people I don't like
This thing got a touch screen? Didn't see any in the trailer. That would be super regressive if it didn't have touch and couldn't function like a tablet in portable mode.

I think the cool factor alone of seamlessly playing on the go and home will sell a lot of consoles. People might even use this to continue watching Netflix on the same device!

The best thing about the system, which is now confirmed, is that both platforms merge into one. That's awesome and pretty much sells me on the system. Have to say though that the reveal trailer was pretty well done, much better than the WiiU reveal. Very curious to get more details about the system, but right now I'm definitely in the pro camp.

They nailed this for my tastes. I haven't wanted a Nintendo console for a very long time, but this really has my attention.

Good job Nintendo, now let's hamstring it in some bizarre way that nobody would anticipate.

This is their new console. I don't see this being less than 300 but 250 would be incredible. The interesting thing will be game price. If they are moving handheld games to this thing will they charge 60 bucks for a handheld game?

Maybe we get lucky and they compromise at $50 lol. I doubt it though. Maybe there will be varable pricing on games; sort of like on Wii U with Yoshi and Captain Todd.

So when you put it on the dock/charger is that all it is or does it give it more graphics power?

Either way it's probably a day one for me. All depends on the games. I'm glad there's no completely stupid gimmicks other than maybe the tiny little detachable controllers.

Give me Pikmin, Mario, Luigis Mansion, Animal Crossing pleeassse.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
"But Iwata said it isn't going to be a hybrid!"

Bow.

The side controllers look too small to function as a separate controller each, in adult hands.

This is one of my concerns. Also, it looks restrictive to the point where it's going to dictate what kind of gameplay experiences are possible in local split multiplayer.

So its a tablet with controller add ons that can play play console games.
Hm. I though the recent years have shown that console experience type of game aren't really what consumers want on the go. Wel'll see if this can change anything about that.
But I really don't think Nintendo can come anywhere near Xbox or Ps numbers with this.
Just like with the WiiU, I don't see it selling beyond the Nintendo fans market.

I probably wouldn't use it a ton in handheld mode, but it would be real nice when I go out of town.

Looks great; I've gotten every Nintendo console up till now (besides handhelds anyway), and I don't think I will stop now!

The more I look at it the more I don't think making it so you can use each side of the controller as it's own controller was worth it.

Look at how small that is and how close the buttons and stick have to be. We will see how that feature is utilized, but I think I would have preferred just having a solid dpad on the controller that comes with the system. The "pro" controller looks okay enough but wouldn't have even needed it.

I'm torn on this. No traditional d-pad on the default controller? Wtf?

you see how the controller disconnects? it means if you're playing two player on the go the trigger and analog will be reversed. The trigger will be on the bottom for one player. sounds uncomfortable.

This is my biggest issue with the system right now minus all the unknowns. This doesn't look comfortable or practical to use at all. One player is going to have to use a controller with unlabelled buttons, too.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Guys, the button on the controller side on the left of the image. That symbol...doesn't it look like the Rec symbol? Sharing button confirmed?

I'm on board.

This looks great! I loved the Wii U's Off TV play feature, and I can definitely myself taking it off the dock to play extremely often.

Give me a price, because I'll definitely get BoTW on it.
