It looks great and I can't wait to buy it and that new Splatoon game is hyping me up so much right now; But, I think they messed up but not using the portable screen as a second screen and instead making you have to dock it to get performance gains.

Best thing about the Wii U was the decluttered HUD's in some of the games. Just my opinion.

Like the idea. It looks like a more mature Nintendo system build quality wise and way better than the Wii U. My issue is how good will the games actually look outside of a commercial and how much the system will be? I feel like we're looking at $350-400 here unless they sell pieces separately.

I need to Pre-order AMAZON PLS

So it's a tablet with controller attachments and a charging/tv dock.

Kinda shocked they are abandoning consoles, discs, motion controls (as in wii controller), dual screen.
Complete end of two eras for Nintendo (not necessarily a bad thing)

I'm guessing I'll have to rebuy my games again for this one.

Super Smash Bros.
Splatoon
Skyrim

... and they are all stored on a SD card instead of a disc.

Interested in knowing how many shoulder buttons there are on the whole controller, and when in split mode.

If there is only one set of triggers, and the 'bumpers' are on the back, that would be ideal for me, I think both triggers/bumpers on top is counter-intuitive, even if I've managed with it these last few generations.

I would like confirmation of the TV-mode resolution. Even if I think chasing resolution is the most overrated aspect of graphics.

I'll buy this thing just for Zelda and Mario. Showing off the games was a smart move. 3D Mario footage definitely the highlight for me. I'm probably in day one!

Mobility is just icing on the cake, tasty and awesome icing.

Shit, I just realized. This doesn't look like a touch screen? They would have shown something about that.

It would be w very Nintendo thing to do to get rid of that or money's sake. But woukd feel like a huge over site. Especially if you're asking me to carry around another tablet device but there's no possibility of even the most basic note app

Hope I'm wrong?

I find it interesting that Sony goes with PSVR for more insular gaming experiences, while Nintendo goes for "Lets play together" arguably more than they ever did.

I'm in for this. All the way in. Looks freaking awesome!

I'd be shocked if it doesn't have a touch screen, but Nintendo isn't showing it right now because the message is clearly "Games for gamers that you can play anywhere. No control compromises." Touch screen fiddling skews the messaging.

My friends 3 year old tablet runs Steam games. Bioshock infinite looks great when it's connected to a tv, After getting burned by the wii u, this seems very underwhelming.

No tablets play Steam games natively, other than the Surface, which is basically just half of a Windows laptop and humungous.

Guys, the button on the controller side on the left of the image. That symbol...doesn't it look like the Rec symbol? Sharing button confirmed?

It's a minus. The other side has a plus.

FromSoftware listed under third party support! I'd buy the shit out of a Dark Souls collection ported to Switch. Dark Souls on the go!

Well this clearly isn't aimed at me, just like Nintendo's last two systems. Portable gaming and co-op are just not important to me at all.

If the game lineup, power, and price are attractive I'm all for it but nothing they showed today interested me.

lmao, it's literally WiiU2.0. Old games and new games that look like old games packed into OffTV/handheld-play which no one in the important markets is going to give a damn about. ,,Wow, I can take Skyrim to the park"...said no one ever.
Doubling down on failure, that's modern Nintendo for you.

The Wii U biggest issue (for me at least) was its slow release of games. It took too long for things to drop. That should be solved by combining the two (console and handheld). It also fixes the portable issue (which wasn't a big deal to me but I will get use out of this thanks to my second shift job).

That should be two missteps fixed. Moving away from the wii name and seemingly having "hardcore" games as the focus from jump also should help.

It really is the Wii U : Redemption lol. They just need to hit the price point and actually have these games be there at launch with more to follow. relatively close

I was pessimistic about this whole thing so far I will eat crow. I suspect they will bungle something up...otherwise hell will freeze over.

Day 1 regardless tho. Dat Mario.

I'm so disappointed. I'm 38 years old and I have no desire for a handheld console.

Sony and MS and getting to 4K and VR and Nintendo is stuck on barely better than Wii U graphics at 720p because they think people will still buy a handheld on 2017.

I don't get it.

I'm 38 too and most of my gaming time is on my commute so this is perfect!

Neat idea. Details will determine how it works.

The side controllers look too small to function as a separate controller each, in adult hands.
Yeah. As a big handed guy that's my big beef with that thing. Or is that tiny beef.

Regardless, might be a daaaaaamn nice piece of kit.

Might.

I'd have liked the screen to be a bit smaller.

But this works for me.

My attention span is somewhat appalling watching TV.

So having a home handheld console (whatever you call it device)

That I can play while the TV is on.

Perfect

And play while the TV isn't being used.

Perfect

I'm in if price is right

Enjoyed the trailer quite a bit, though I was certainly not expecting Skyrim to be there. I'm digging the look, especially the dock. Pretty damn excited.

I'm curious about power consumption, though... Does it run on batteries or will it be plugged into a socket when docked? And if I go portable, does the dock turn off or something?

NINTENDO DELIVERS!!

OK!

So now we need key details

- Price
- Battery Life
- OS features (party chat, share, apps etc..)
- Legacy support and Account carryover
- Legacy Peripheral support (let me use my WiiU Pro Controllers! Its fucking Bluetooth for fucks sake!)

SO much info left to dig up!

The more I look at it the more I don't think making it so you can use each side of the controller as it's own controller was worth it.

Look at how small that is and how close the buttons and stick have to be. We will see how that feature is utilized, but I think I would have preferred just having a solid dpad on the controller that comes with the system. The "pro" controller looks okay enough but wouldn't have even needed it.

I can't see anyone consistently using the Switch this way unless they have multiple children that need to play it on the go. I think Nintendo is wildly overestimating the "party" aspect of his for adults. If I were to get a Switch, I doubt I'd ever be detaching the controllers when playing it on the go.

I've been asking the same question pieces since and it would be the dumbest oversight in history if they didn't have touchscreen
