Emily Rogers: Splatoon Switch is not a sequel, allegedly. Same for Mario Kart.

Can't believe anyone even thought those were all sequels. Outside of what was shown of Mario, which definitely looked like something completely different, why anyone would think those were full blown new entries is beyond me. Wishful thinking at its best, as a wish I wouldn't even make to begin with. This isn't EA or Ubisoft we are talking about, as numbered titles tend to mean something to Nintendo.

Please, don't bring up Mario Party lol

Would people who already own Mario Kart 8 be satisfied if Nintendo have 16 new tracks with 4 New cups. New characters and power ups as well as the new mechanic of switching items.

I would. That's almost the same amount of content that a new 3D Mario Kart released before Mario Kart DS would add.

So we will get 10% off MSRP for previous ownership or will they not fuck their customers?

Did you get a discount when you went to go buy Beverly Hills Ninja on DVD when you already owned it on VHS?

Seriously, get out of here with that nonsense. You bought a Wii U game, and that's what you got. You didn't buy the source code and a future proof eternal license for it on any future theoretical formats or devices.

Mario party 1-10 with online would be hype
Do it Nintendo

Mario didn't look completely different at all. It looked like SMWorld and SM3dLand. It was playing with that same perspective thing that SM3dLand started.

Anyway the enhanced ports are just Nintendo saying we have a good product that wasn't able to find its way into the hands of consumers because of the failure of the Wii U in the market. Let's repackage those games and give them another chance at a wider audience on the Switch. It costs us little. It gives us a lot more launch window titles.

I mean this is good for people who didnt own a Wii U but as someone who did its disappointing to see the amount of ports shown for the Switch.

Im willing to buy Switch at launch but only if Nintendo actually has some brand new titles ready for launch.

I forgot how much better analogue triggers will feel with these games. The Switch alone makes these games enhanced without even the games needing to be enhanced lol

I'd take a new Mario Party in the style of 1-3 with online!

So far every game has been either an enhanced port, or not even real for Skyrim's case.

I guess that Mario game might eventually be something.

Man the blowback from reveal has been pretty disheartening.

The trailer was a hardware reveal, so I get why they mainly showed ports. Wii U was Nintendo's worst selling system (not counting VB), so it makes sense to rerelease them.

I just realized how dumb I am to be fully okay with the idea of paying full price for all of them even though I already own them for the Wii U.

Is Nintendo ever going to work out a special deal for us previous owners? No, right?

If an album gets remastered or rereleased with bonus tracks, you're not going to get a discount if you owned the old one. If a movie gets rereleased as a deluxe set, they ain't giving that to you for free either. I agree it sucks, but it's not happening. Nintendo's been playing with lower priced retail games for Wii U, so hopefully the remasters have a low price.

Not really

On a new system I'd like new games. I mean ports or enhancements are always welcome as long as the new ones are there too

When modern gaming is like 50% ports, people are calling out Nintendo for releasing ports of games that'll hold them off until a true sequel can be made. There really is no way of pleasing GAF when it comes to anything Nintendo does.

Smash and Splatoon day one is huge.

It's funny, we already had a topic discussing this sort of issue but it got locked:

As I stated in that topic, I'm not much against this but the Switch needs to have its own never played before titles, even if it is a port in the case of BOTW.

She's saying that Splatoon, Mario Kart, Zelda and Smash Bros will all be enhanced ports.

Of those four, I'll only double dip on Zelda. I love MK and Splatoon but i rarely use them so if there're new original games to buy on launch window, I'll pass. Except if Nintendo does some kind of promotion to upgrade the games for those who bought on Wii U for cheap (I doubt it).

Super Mario Maker and Xenoblade X are other games that I may probably re buy if they enhanced them (new enemies, power-ups, stage types, background music options and such for Mario Maker, and new Story Missions that follows up the cliffhanger ending for XCX). We should be able to transfer save games and levels, tho.

Bayonetta Trilogy would be sexy as hell as well... :p And Hyrule Warrios Wii U + 3DS with all DLC.

They gave me that much for £11 as dlc so if they want to charge £11 for the upgrade, sure.

Obviously that's not going to happen though.

Here's the thing because Switch is not substantially more powerful than a Wii U and no new control gimmicks there is not much you can change up. The only time there wasn't a big graphics leap was from Double Dash to Wii and atleast then they changed it uo with optional motion controls.

I think 16 new tracks and 4 cups and now power ups, characters and the Switching Gameplay mechanic is enough for a new Mario Kart entry. So if they do that just think of all the old Mario Kart 8 content as bonus content.

Hmmm, I guess this is kinda cool for people that do not own the Wii U versions. But if this is true, I feel this is kinda like a kick to the teeth of those that have supported the Wii U. These new versions would be considered the "Definitive Editions" and I certainly do not wanna rebuy a game I already own, especially if the extra content is not big enough to warrant it.

EDIT: It would be cool if they offered these definitive editions to people that owned these games for the Wii U at a considerable discount

Don't forget actual Battle Mode tracks.

I'd be pretty happy with that considering how great MK8 + all DLC is.

New characters for Smash if it exists or new tracks for MK = buy

Splatoon is already a buy, and I'm pretty sure it's significantly changed

Sure I'd be fine with that. Throw in some actual courses too that use 8's zero gravity.

Somebody please tell me who Emily "ArcadeGirl64" Rogers is please. Why is she an insider? Who does she work for?

Good news to me since I skipped out on Wii U. Will pick up all these games.

I think people are worried Nintendo will be too focused on porting rather than new games but I don't think it'll be a problem. One platform for all devs to work on was definitely the move.

This is honestly a smart move. Not only could you bill them as partial remasters, but you're saving production costs and (hopefully) selling to all of the people who didn't buy a Wii U, making the game mostly fresh.

So they say 5 months from launch no Infos about anything until next year. The games are mostly just ports. And its not the 3DS successor? Why should I care again? Gonna save that money for a PS4 Pro. At this rate this console will fail and maybe its the last Nintendo console.

It DOES feel somewhat early for a Splatoon sequel, so this makes sense. Pretty much figured that was just MK8 with new characters. I doubt the inevitable Smash port will have too much added, if anything, just based on the amount of DLC they already added. Again, probably a GOTY sort of edition.

Yep, nothing but ports. That's all the Switch is. Now, go buy that PS4 Pro and all its new, exclusive software.

It would be criminal not to include the Ice Climbers at least.

Yeah.
All Nintendo is TRYING to do is build up a big install base from the get go. What's so wrong about that? If casuals love the concept of the Switch and they see a "new" Mario Kart game at launch, they'll be out in droves and these things will sell out so fast like the Wii.

Nintendo is doing it right. These are their huge evergreen titles that people love, especially casuals who they want to pull in from the get go.

Lmao please tell me you're being sarcastic 😂
