Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

My team is still a bunch of placeholders more than halfway through Island 2. It's a bit disappointing, but I am used to not really liking most of the early game mons.

It becomes part ice which mean it gains some new weaknesses. I'm not sure how it's stats change.
Damn, that's a bummer. I do love ice types, though, but maybe not for my fighter.

I'll keep her 'cause I love her too much. I called her Bayonetta. Evolving means just equipping Odette to pair with the Takemikazuchi.

There's an actually giant legged mon for Bayo comparisons, later on.

Bruh. Kiawe's trial is kicking my ass. This Salazzle is either criting, or just doing damn good damage, while her little fuck friend spams Poison Gas and Taunt in the back. HELP ME.

Trading to get all three starters with a friend will be the hardest thing of this damn game. Holy shit the walk around you have to do just to get it done from not finding your friend in the guest list to having to set up a random trade to finally VIP them. I hate this process soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much.

Festival Plaza is so surreal. You can teleport there whenever you want and it's full of people who are definitely 100% robots.

Man the quality of wild pokemon is really poor early on in game, almost no cool new generation pokemon yet. Every generation needs to do what B&W did, and make it exclusively new generation pokemon at first, tired of seeing old ones.

Also call for help is the worst new mechanic in ages.

Tried to catch Pichu, it called for help 4 times.
Haha, same thing happened to me with Oranguru. Kind of glad I caught it because I stuck around for 10 more or so fights and never encountered it again.

I actually like the mechanic, though. It gives a little more oomph to battles and you always feel relieved when you catch the Pokemon at the end after having to sit through 4 calls for help.

the upside is it can eventually have a pikachu appear and you can get a pikachu instead of having to start from Pichu. But mine with just having him forefront of the party from catching it, and the occasional petting/feeding (not too often) evolved at level 19 or so.

This 'call for help' mechanic is rapidly becoming incredibly annoying lol

It's a pain in the ass without a dedicated Pokemon catching team. I'm prepping a Skill Swap Sylveon to hunt for HA Rockruff, Cubone, and Fomantis but I'm still dreading it.

Rockruff in particular is unbelievably annoying to deal with in chains. It has the ability to raise its attack, lower your defense, and lower your accuracy. It then has Bite so you can't use your psychic types for Synchronised natures unless you're high level.

Fomantis at least responds to Leer differently (defense increase instead of decreasing).

I found a Pichu by the grass that was close to the ferry in the first town, it was my first encounter... :lol

The best part is, I boxed that little fucker immediately. Why bother when Magnemite and the electric bug are so much better?

Valid.

On the upside, found a female Alolan Meowth, so there's that.
Never evolving her.

If I ever wanted a meowth I'd be the millionth person in this game to call it Garfield

Shit got real when I was trying to catch a Magikarp and it was calling multiple Gyarados ready to Thrash. The Salazzle Trial boss was trying to be cute too with Toxic > Venoshock in one turn.

I think the mechanic is a bit rough/tiring for every damn wild Pokemon evar but it does add quite a bit to Trials and such which are nice.

At the speed I'm going I might have to start thinking of another dragon pokemon besides garchomp because I don't know if I have the energy to start from a gible and get it to a garchomp if I find one once all my mons are high level

Your Synchronize Pokémon can be knocked and still work on wild encounters as long as it's at the front of your team.

How do you join a mission at the Festival Plaza? Is it local only? The list of joinable missions is always empty when I check it

Oh no. I might end up benching my Misdreavus for Marowak. Its Alolan form is just too cool looking. And then there's the fact that I only wanted to use one Alolan form, so my Pikachu might be out as well. Ergh. Maybe I'll just make an exception to my dumb rule.

I put a clefable in my team this gen because eh, never actually used one before. Holy shit that thing is actually a powerhouse. Saved my ass countless times as I was vastly underleveled by not using the exp.share. I ran Cosmic Power, Stored Power, Minimize and Moonblast. Cosmic power and minimize makes you borderline invincible and set your Stored Power at 260 power. Clefable is a cute pink blob of death.

I find it helpful if I'm trying to find a certain gender other wise it's annoying. Does add a bit of difficulty to the game tho.
Cute charm is personally what I use to find specific genders* but yeah it is funny how calling for help makes random encounters turn south in no time. I'm still cracking up over the person who got blacked out by a bunch of Caterpie. Outside of Twitch plays Pokemon you just don't hear that happening otherwise.

*-Get Eevee, evolve to Sylveon use that to get another Eevee of opposite gender which also becomes Sylveon.

Oak is...black?

Samson Oak is not Samuel Oak :( . There I was hoping for a radical change due to spending time in Hawai ala the school Principal in Ranma ½.
