Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

So I heard the owl starter is awful. If I'm just a casual player going through the story, will this matter? If I choose the cat and keep them at the second evolution (I hate humanoid types, sorry) will that also gimp me?

Torracat is a good Pokémon. Dartrix not so much.

That said, all three starters are good when fully evolved.

I've been noticing that sometimes at the start of turns it'll say something like "Growlithe is tired" or "Trumbeak is thinking about beans". Does this have to do with the Refresh thing? I only started seeing it after refreshing my Pokemon more regularly, but I don't get why it would say that they're thinking about beans right after I fed them. Also, it's saying stuff like "They're worried that they won't be able to fight well". Is it bad to see these messages?

If it's worried I think it just means it's a bad type match up, no big deal.

Not being able to throw a Poké Ball when multiple Pokémon are on the field is what holds back the SOS mechanic.

It prolongs otherwise simple captures and forces you to choose between two Pokémon you might want.

For example, I needed a Metapod and a Butterfree answered its call for help. While losing a Metapod is no tragedy, I still had to faint the Pokémon I started out for to obtain the one that followed.

I actually really love the SOS mechanic overall, but I admit that the necessity of a status condition to negate it isn't enough. Simply being able to throw a Poké Ball whenever you want would rectify the issues players are having with the system.

It would also be exciting to catch two Pokémon in the same battle.

Agreed. Usually when a pokemon I'm trying to catch calls for help I just run and forget it unless I actually want to use the pokemon on my team.

My god, it took me at least 12 awful save resets just to get a female Popplio.

Once I reach that daycare, the ball will be in my court for Global Trades bwahbwahbwah!

o hi

Toucannon looks awesome. Feeling mixed about his stats and movepool, honestly kinda wish he was a special attacker but his attack is very high (slowest bird ever though, RIP). His Sig move sounds cool, wish it were a multi hit flying move instead though.

And of course Rockruff reached level 25 but it's not nighttime. Moon's system is messing me up lmao

This is just flavor, supposed to signify your connection with the Pokemon because they have so much affection for you. Doesn't actually mean anything.

OK good. I mean, so many of them sound negative, like they aren't paying attention to the fight, I was worried it would mean that would get some sort of debuffs.

How do you trade/battle with a specific person over the internet? The Festival Plaza is sort of a pain in the ass to navigate

Give Toucannon Bullet Seed, Rock Blast, Brick Break, and Beak Blast. Abusing Skill Link to have 125 BP grass and rock moves, plus a powerful fighting and a crazy signature move, makes Toucannon a lot of fun.

Man that red card trainer on Route 3 was something else. Reminded me on how much I hated stealth rock. Currently playing on set while flirting with Exp Share (I turn it off If I get too dependent on one pokemon and cycle my leads until they get close in level and then I turn it on again when they get close enough.) granted the only immediate threat in my team was my Torracat, Trumbeak, and Youngoos. the rest of my team are late bloomers. I didnt lose, but I enjoyed having to think carefully about my actions instead of just punching through, (not that that isn't fun in its own right by any means.)

I cant remember ever being this engaged in a normal trainer fight outside of gym and e4 battles!

Nah, it's just meant to represent you having a better understanding of your Pokemon's mood.

Tip for anyone who wants to waste turns while SOS chaining: use Antidotes on your healthy Pokemon. It'll take up a turn but not consume the item.

I was also able to make a silly amount of money from Fishing by finding dozens of pearls and the like.

Female Salandit on my first battle hunting for it. That was much easier than I thought! But it looks like the other Pokémon I was looking for, Dewpider, is a day catch only. Guess the hunt for him starts tomorrow.

Oh I plan on it, he just evolved so Bullet Seed and Rock Blast are a ways off yet. He's been killing it for me so far, think the line might end up being my favorite bird line behind Staraptor (I do love Swellow and Noctowl's design even if it's trash).

Salandit has a great encounter route. I was worried it'd be another Combee situation but had no trouble with it. I think I found 3 just wandering around.

I didn't know about Sandit so I caught a male. What really sucks is that it's Spd+/Attack- natured aka perfect i assume. Maybe I'll get lucky and catch a female Modest one.

I'm going crazy looking for the last trash item in this maill

edit: found it. Wonder if it's a color-blindness thing that the sparkles don't stand out at all

Really wish I had a strategy guide or something to help me determine which Pokémon to use.

Magnemite vs Pichu

Hypno vs Abra vs Slowpoke

Grindr vs Ghastly

Help!

I just got Incineroar. Why Gamefreak? Why do you hate me? I was hoping for some kind of sabertooth tiger considering all the bitting moves it could learn.

At least the typing is cool.

Someone in the restaurant had a regular Grimer. Didn't expect to see one in Alola.

The Sightseer trainer class often uses old versions of pokemon with Alolan forms. Pretty clever.

1. Do you want an Electric/Steel Pokemon or an Electric/Psychic Pokemon?

2. Abra requires you to trade it to get it's final form and Slowpoke requires you to trade it to get the better of it's two final forms.

3. Grindr? You mean Machop? If so that's another one you have to trade in order to get it's final form.

Another PSA for SOS chaining: I got a HA Rockruff after a chain of exactly 20. When the lead Pokemon calls for help, but fails, your chain is not broken.

Unfortunately my Synchronize Kadabra was unlucky and the Rockruff is +Atk -Spd. Luckily it's a Midnight-Lycanroc so it's usable.

EDIT: And I see someone got a shiny Rockruff after a 24 chain. Oh well.

I really like all three final forms for this generation's starters, but I too long for a future where we have a quadruped Fire starter. This was a great oppurtinity, but I like Incineroar, so I can deal.

Oops I meant Grimer.

Grats!!

I'm planning on getting a shiny Crabrawler. How easy is it?

Easy. Just had to train up a keen eye lycanroc to work past the sand attack spam.
failed the first time at around 110+. Started running out of PP

Gratz. Neutral nature and no hidden ability for me but I'm not complaining.
