Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

Totally forgot about my free Munchlax, just picked him up---won't be a mainstay on my team but'll keep him on till I get my other guys on Akala.

Keeping Slowpoke with me too since he'll help against Hala. Never used the line before but their early moveset is pretty lame, also never realized it had more Attack than Special Attack despite its STAB being the latter early on.

About to finish second island and soon ash greninja will be mine to use

You know how do you transfer him over again, I've yet to see that option---I cleared the Demo and everything.

So, because of the Giant Bomb Quick look, I know that you can find Dewpiders in the lake where you get the Lapras to ride on, but I've been circling around in that lake for ages and all I've found are Poliwags and Psyducks.

Is Dewpider only found during the daytime? I don't want to keep swimming around if I need to wait until 8 PM or whatever for me to find one.

Talk to Kukui in the Pokemon center in the demo to transfer Greninja to the main game.

Yeah I think it is daytime.

I did that part at night and didn't find one.

Yes, only in daytime

Speak to kukui in the demo and he will ask. Once he does it there will be a tall guy in the pokecenter with him.

Not being able to throw a Poké Ball when multiple Pokémon are on the field is what holds back the SOS mechanic.

It prolongs otherwise simple captures and forces you to choose between two Pokémon you might want.

For example, I needed a Metapod and a Butterfree answered its call for help. While losing a Metapod is no tragedy, I still had to faint the Pokémon I started out for to obtain the one that followed.

I actually really love the SOS mechanic overall, but I admit that the necessity of a status condition to negate it isn't enough. Simply being able to throw a Poké Ball whenever you want would rectify the issues players are having with the system.

It would also be exciting to catch two Pokémon in the same battle.

Not being able to catch one wild pokemon when two are on screen is one of the worst things about this gen, and I hope it's removed in future generations. It sucked for horde battles in gen 6 too.

Found this guy while looking for a magby

Sadly it's a male so it will never evolve :(

I caught a shiny male Salandit too. It just randomly appeared while I was walking in route 8's grass, didn't even need to chain. RNG hates me in this game apparently, spent hours trying to get a shiny Wishiwashi and failed, only to get this worthless thing. The gender ratio for it really needed to be the opposite of what it is now, should have been 87.5% female, 12.5% male.

Just wanna make sure, the only difference between both games are the pokemons?
Theres nothing like Black and White (exclusive areas)?

The totem battles are different. Some of them feature completely different Pokemon as the totems, and a few use different tactics depending on the version (at least based on me watching my boyfriend play the opposite version).

I'm pretty sure that's the extent of the differences this time around.

Hello new Dartrix. This one is Naughty and also has a higher better Speed than my original one. My first one can now be a dedicated babymaker for trade fodder.

so when is the soonest in this game that you can trade from other games like say x and y? and how do you do that? Do you need pokebank?

So, does anyone else have an issue with the simplicity and hand holding in the game?

- the game is bogged down by cutscenes that don't add much to the narrative
- the trials are huge step down compared to the gym puzzles of the last two generations (compare shalour city gym to the volcano trial. the "spot the difference" thing is much less interesting than an actual puzzle of almost any kind to me)
- the routes themselves feel much smaller and much more linear than previous entries
- there's no incentive to explore for objectives, as you always have the big glaring red check telling you where to go

On top of these, the actual density of new Pokemon SUCKS. Even Alolan forms are hard to find. The only new Pokemon I can seem to reliably find are Yungoos, Wishiwashi, and male Salandits.

I'm about to head to the third island. The game could still open up, but it's starting to cut it close as I'm roughly in the high twenties/low thirties with my team.

There aren't any heavy spoilers in my post but I've spoiled it just in case. Just feeling disappointed. Not the direction I wanted them to go after XY :(

Anyone else think that the distribution of wild gen 7 Pokemon is lower than it should be? I spent about about 30 minutes going through the start of Lana's trial (including time spent in lengthy SOS battles) and I saw 1 Morelull and 2 Wishiwashi, and the Wishiwashi were part of the story. Every single random battle except for the one Morelull fight towards the beginning was a Pokemon from a previous gen, a Psyduck, a Poliwag, a Wingull, or a Surskit.

Shouldn't there be, I dunno, more new Pokemon? I feel like I'm fighting way more Pokemon from previous gens than I should be. The first island was way better about this, and I really hope it changes soon.

Finally got lycanroc midnight and I can't see any reasons to use it over Mudsdale :/ worse typing, ability, and weaker too. Looks cool, but Middday has higher speed and an exclusive move (which you'd think they would give to Midnight form since it's slower). Sorry Lycanroc, you're probably getting benched

Endgame spoilers

It's incredibly dumb that you can't fight Lusamine *herself* at the final battle. I was hoping that would be the case. Getting possessed by Nihilego was just for the show and pointless then. Maybe they don't want Pokemon attacking "people"?

How do I evolve my Pichu? He's level 18 and no dice. I want that sweet, sweet, Alola Raichu.
Happiness (which is not related to affection/ Refresh). Walk with Pichu in the party, don't let it faint, don't use the bitter healing items on it (heal powder, revival herb), let it hold it soothe bell, find the massage person in Alola (no idea where), and level it up.

The massage person is in Konikoni City, the town on the south of the 2nd island. You have to complete all of the trials on the 2nd island and then go through Diglett's tunnel to get there

Is there a list online of the % various pokemon show up by route? Not sure how much time I want to spend looking for slowpoke and psyduck in Sun.

Keep playing.

I also don't agree with your last point at all. There are side quests on nearly every route and they usually net you a decent item, a lot of cash, or a TM. I think that makes them worth doing and they often encourage you to explore the route.

I'm a diehard X/Y fan too, but this game is simply better to me. It's more linear sure, but that's not bad thing. At least not for me.

I'm not far, but up to now, I agree with most points... The game is nicer, and the story better, but I enjoyed playing X/Y more. And I think it'll even be worse post-game.

Also, I really dislike the Rotom Dex. It's a huge down compared to the DexNav.

Is it just me or does your avatar never change expression in cutscenes?

The avatar having a wide eyed happy face during the cutscene where the aether president summons the ultra beasts was sorta funny lol.

Yeah it kinda bugs me. There's serious shit happening and you're there with the same facial expression always and Hau always jumping and smiling.

I just got a level 1 shiny Mimikyu through wonder trade. Any chance this is legit and not hacked or something?

I think I might buy Sun as well. I'd like to have a version where I can run Nuz/Wonderlockes. This game seems really fit for that style of challenge.
