Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

Yup. Stupid.

I suppose I'll stop my progress and spend time backtracking to fill in the Pokedex a bit until either a friend of mine beats the game or a kind EndgameGAFer comes along, because I really want to play through my game with a Ghost/Fire Marowak that actually knows Ghost and Fire moves.

Which sucks, considering I've put 21 hours into this game in the past three days and want to keep playing, but may also be a blessing in disguise considering I've put 21 hours into this game in the past three days.

Oh, have we opened a FC thread? I'm sure someone here is endgame

I'm still pretty early in the game (just finished the school), but is there a way of seeing if there are any pokemon you haven't caught yet on each part of the island?
I don't remember the poke-name of the device from ORAS, which showed badges/medals for all pokemon caught for each route etc., but does SM have anything like that?

Unfortunately not, all you've got is Rotom.

Huh, that's a huge step down. That feature in ORAS (XY too? I forget) was the single best QoL of life improvement for me, since I like to stick around each area until I catch everything. It's weird that with all the changes for the better that SM has to make it easier and more approachable, they ditched that one.

Steenee is my new favorite Grass type. So adorable I can barely stand it.

As for the late release, don't worry, EUGAF; we'll still be hype. And we also have a (very sleepy) Discord chat for you to join if you like.

Does it have to be from EU though? I would like to join a Discord for pokeGAF.

That's the high point in difficulty in the game

Ilima actually did beat me lmao

Haven't lost since, but that was an early wake-up call

I did kinda double-take when it started Embering me and then I looked at my team composed of Rowlet/Grubbin/Magnetite/Grimer/Cutiefly.

Like..."Uhhh...ummm...huh."

I lost. Rematch I almost lost too but I knew I could survive a hit and it would knock smeargle into potion range and then blaze boosted fire gang for the KO

Can confirm. Ember too strong.

Lol now I don't feel bad about my Ilima fight. My team is Rattata, Pichu and Rowlet so it was really close. Had to sacrifice both Rattata and Pichu to the Smeargle lord.

Blah... At least I'm thankful for high abra encounter rates, was terrible for ORAS. Collecting a ton of them for nature farming.

Am I the only person who sells their rare candies for cold hard cash?

I don't sell mine, but this game feels super stingy with them. XY handed them out like... well, like candy.

I ended up using one to quick evolve my Cubone because I didn't want to miss the window a Night Time because I wouldn't be able to play at "night" again (actually day due to Moon) until Wednesday, because of work.

I'm only the first half of the second island but man, the "healing stations" really takes away the tension you'd normally face. Also I'm very not fond of the region structure. Literally just small paths with maybe a few branching. Even Kalos and Unova wasn't this restrictive!

Also SOS is really lame when you're trying to catch Pokemon.

Eh, healing stations have been a thing for a long time now.

Sorry, having trouble finding this sort of info on this site. There's A LOT of info here. Is there a page showing encounter rates per area or do you have to drill down into a Pokemon's individual page? The former would be nice.

Go to the sun/moon page

Click on the Sun/moon pokedex

Click the pokemon you wanna know where to find

If you want to know what else is catchable on the route, click the name of the route to be taken to its page

Catching the Tapus almost feels weirdly sacrilegious with how revered they are compared to other legendaries. "Let me put your guardian deity in a ball and carry it around with me."

WAT THE FUCK

You can have the breeder exchange a new egg for one of the recently hatched Pokemon in your party (straight into your box).

AND the IV judging can be done from any PC in the game now. You click a button once and it shows the potential of everything in your boxes.

Amazing.

Anyone know where you enter in your location info (like country and state) so it shows up in the Festival?

edit: Looks like you can do it in Global Link

All part of GameFreak's stupid design tidbit where things are left in certain games "because reasons."

Echoing Ilima's Smeargle being surprisingly tough, he only used Tackle against me but it did far more damage than I thought---Pikipek took him down when I remembered it had Rock Smash though.

Anyway, there are two additions to the dialogue I really like, first people now reference their Pokemon with genders (in the past I recall it was always "it" or "name of Pokemon") which feels more realistic since they're basically pets, and second I like how characters reference the first Pokemon in your party. Makes them feel more like your team members when like Lillie tells you Grubbin looks tired, or the Berry Man congratulates your Slowpoke.

Speaking of the Berry Man, does the game secretly heal you before that fight? I swear my Pikipek had been weakened by the Youngster's Spearow but he was at full health when facing the Skull Grunt.

I caught a shiny psyduck! Lvl 15, female, damp ability, mild nature and in a premier ball to boot!

Id be willing to trade for another shiny.

Edit: could i play with this psyduck and not worry about messing with its evs? As in if i trade the person can reset evs?

Is it weird that I'm 6h and half in and I still have not completed the first trial?

Taking my time exploring everything. It's really a beautiful region

How are you exploring anything? This game treats exploration as a sin and forbids you from doing so outside 2 areas until you progress the next story element. One of my biggest peeves.
