Uncharted shouldn't even be a nomination. Uncharted 2? Sure. But 4 is not an amazing game.
Sadly I agree 100%. I expected more from the final chapter of Drake. 7/10 game.

Yep, only thing amazing about are the graphics. UC is not as great as people want it to be. Some points were absolutely atrocious. The first 7 chapters ruined it for me. I finished it, but I have no desire to replay it.Uncharted shouldn't even be a nomination. Uncharted 2? Sure. But 4 is not an amazing game.
That must make some shitty Ubisoft game GOTY for the past 10 years then
I can agree here, and I think it's because of why it's divisive. Uncharted 4, fairly unanimously, is regarded as the best playing Uncharted. Certainly has the best graphics of the series, but there's simply a group of gamers that loved the slower paced build up, walking/talking segments, and had a great time with the pacing, while others felt it just wasn't exciting enough.

Overwatch? more like Overrated!
DOOM is the real GOTY
Multiple levels?
Graphics and?
Shooting and story is by the numbers,
climbing is boring (so 80% of the game),
pacing is attrocious,
puzzles are a joke.
Really don't see it.
Yeah! I remember how everyone was saying UC2 didn't deserve GOTY. Things don't change. Maybe we'll get another rap about how people will be tasting Drake's balls. It's an absolutely incredible game. It excels way beyond the competition on multiple levels.
Uncharted 4 was scaled back in scope to focus on the story and character development, it's as close to a movie I have personally seen a game get.The visuals and art style are insane giving off a realistic yet fantastical look of these landscapes lost to time. The acting in Uncharted is also top of the line and the game comes complete with very fun and robust yet underappreciated multiplayer.
I'll take Uncharted 4's script and acting over something like 2010 Best Picture Winner, The Hurt Locker. But is the script or the acting of Oscar caliber? I don't think so. Then what's so good about a game being a movie instead of, you know, being fun?

No game should ever win game of the year without a campaign.
And for that reason Uncharted 4 will win it this year.
Blizzard marketingReally dont get the hype for Overwatch.
Yep. We're all brainwashed.Blizzard marketing

Eh, Uncharted 4 isn't even the best in its own category this year. Inside is the far more interesting interactive narrative experience imo.
I think we've lost sight of the OP's topic anyway, which was how traditionally difficult it seems to be for a MP focused game to win GOTY over a SP game. If Overwatch can't do it, I'm not sure what the fuck can.
Titanfall 2 is better than both.
There isn't a moving exploding train or a crashing plane section, or a supernatural twist in uncharted 4 like in previous entries so that may hit a sour note with many.
But what if they're not even contenders?
