The Last of Us Part II announced

cool trailer. hope they make even better a.i. and improve on their (already great) gore system. also for the love of god please drop the help me with this ladder shit.

Also, one more thing. There didn't seem to be anything going on outside, it looked rather peaceful. All of the action happened inside that house as evident by the bodies. Why would Joel be outside then while Ellie fends for herself inside? He comes inside after everything's happened and then checks on her. A little creepy, but really interesting.

My guess is that at some point Joel and Ellie got split up and he was looking for her. She runs off because she's an angsty teen who wants to kill the fireflies while Joel just wants to chill in his old age. The scene we say was him finally catching up to her.

Anyone believing in ghost Joel is setting themselves up for disappointment. Feel free to bookmark this post, if it turns out Joel is dead and Ellie is talking to her imagination I'll buy everyone on Gaf a copy of the game.

My take, from the UC4 pic, is that the Fireflies must have taken Ellie's daughter and she's out to get them. The hunted becomes the hunter.

Also this game's development might be a bit smoother than UC4's without Amy Hennig on board
please go easy on me

I hope we are going to kill Joel, I want to avenge Marlene and give the guy some retribution for how selfish and murderous he was at the end

Well if they live together, I'm guessing almost every day?

After what happened mid game at
Tommy's
you think Joel is ever not strapped?

For the record I'm not sure what side I fall on yet. But if she was hallucinating Joel after just killing a house full of Fireflies it's not unbelievable that she'd see him battle ready.

At the end of the day, a ghost Joel wouldn't be walking through the house, stepping over bodies and checking out the scene and carrying a gun. If Ellie was just hallucinating, he would just show up at the the bedroom door.

Unless something drastic happens this game's pacing and design likely won't be hurt by the director and team being fired along with recasting important roles and shuffling game sequences coupled with rewrites. So yea you're pretty on the nose there.

Did you not play The Last of Us? Joel is unreal protective of Ellie because of how scarred he is at what happened with his daughter. I feel it would be pretty out of character for Joel to just casually stroll up to a scene where he knew Ellie was involved in heavy conflict.

I'm not convinced Joel is a ghost / hallucination here, but its possible
It would be in character if he's conflicted (clearly this is after some kind of a fallout if she went out her own and he had tried to stop her before) and this is a sad fuck, she really is doing this realization kind of moment.

Bookmarked.

I want the Collectors Edition btw.

If Joel's fate wasn't supposed to be questioned it will now. This is hype gold and ND will milk it for everything it's worth.

Uncharted 4 was also quite offensive, because
it DID have two sections where you fight Nadine, but they disable your fighting buttons so you can't hurt their pretty princess
.

Maybe the trope of the expendable male will finally come to an end.

What I remember is Nathan's lack of hand to hand combat and Nadine a highly trained badass.

I'm a little disappointed that they're continuing Ellie and Joel's story, but I guess you need more than just a title to get people interested. Trailer was solid, though, regardless of my thoughts on the characters.

I only hope they've learned the right lessons from Uncharted 4, because with U4, Naughty Dog clearly learned the wrong lessons from The Last of Us. Better implementation of gameplay and story, and less "game stops now so dialogue can play". Fingers crossed, I suppose.

Let's just change this to buying me a copy of the collector's edition game regardless of the outcome.

Avenge someone that was going to murder Ellie without even seeing if that's what she wants? It's interesting how so many view Joel as the selfish one and not the Fireflies who were going to kill Ellie while she was unconscious. Her last memory would've been Joel potentially dying while she drowns.

Also he comes in from the bright light and the lyrics are like "goodness will follow me wherever I go" or something

Dude is totally dead

The Godfather was a perfectly rounded story.

We still got The Godfather: Part II.

...and Terminator 2, Aliens, Empire Strikes Back, Evil Dead II, The Dark Knight etc. etc.

Just remember people freaked out with crazy theories from Uncharted 4. From tone, to plot events that were all 100% wrong. And that's where I think this ghost Joel theory lies.

I think I'll create a Ellie is a ghost theory!
